Chapter 22
Ajax took a deep breath as he looked around his cabin, making sure he hadn't forgotten anything. He left his cell phone and wallet in his safe because he knew he'd lose them as soon as he was taken and replacing them would just be a pain. He'd made sure everything was clean and put away, that his refrigerator was empty of anything that could go bad, everything that he could think of.
He wasn't sure how long he'd be gone but he hated the idea of coming back to a mess and a science experiment. He couldn't think of anything he still needed to do so with a steadying sigh he said, “You ready for this, Hezin?”
*'Of course. You'll be taken care of,'*
Ajax smiled and nodded. “Ok, then let's do this.” Leaving his cabin, he got onto his bike and headed towards the main gate. His plan was to park his bike near the gate and then take a walk. Hopefully, the Titan's would jump on a lone Lycan. Once he arrived, he parked his bike and then went to the main gate and made it seem like he was sneaking out.
Just as he stepped through he suddenly heard, “Ajax! What the hell are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself killed?” Avalina whisper-yelled. She'd been out on a run, needing a bit of space, when she'd seen Ajax heading towards the main gate.
“Lina, my gorgeous wolf, please go back inside the compound. I'm just going to work. I have to,” he tried to explain while trying to get her to go back into the compound.
“No! You're trying to get yourself kicked out of the clan. Filtairn is going to be furious when he finds out that you're risking yourself for a bartending job,” Avalina lectured.
“Lina, my love, I promise I know what I'm doing. Please, beautiful, trust me,” Ajax pleaded, trying desperately to get her back into the compound.
“Ajax,” she growled. She suddenly went quiet as her face paled as she looked over his shoulder. “Oh shit!”
“They're here aren't they?” Ajax asked under his breath. “You need to run, NOW! Run back to the compound.”
“I'm not leaving you, stupid wolf. If we get taken, we get taken together,” Lina snarled.
“AVALINA! RUN! PLEASE!” Ajax hissed desperately.
“We have two more, this time a female. She’ll be lovely on the slave market,” one of the Titans smiled.
“She's pretty, I might have to take her for myself,” another said snidely.
“Not if the King sees her. He needs a new plaything,” the third said.
“Fuck that!” Avalina growled as she let her wolf out and she turned to attack them.
“DAMNIT!” Ajax snarled as he also released his wolf.
*'She's rather stubborn. I wish you luck with this one.'* Ajax snorted as he heard Hezin in his head.
*'Don't I know it,'* he responded with a sigh in the same manner. As they both moved to fight against the three large Titans, Ajax knew their fight was impossible. He just needed to make sure Avalina didn't get hurt. He blinked in surprise as one of the Titans pulled out a crystalline rope and started to whip the air. '*What is that?'* he asked Hezin.
*'I don't know, but even through our link I can feel the power. Take care with it!'*
*'Lina, don't let that whip hit you!'* Ajax sent to her via their Lycan link.
*'Got it!'* she replied back. The Titans continued to circle them when all of the sudden Avalina felt a sharp stick on her back leg. "What the..." Avalina moaned as she fell unconscious.
"Dammit! Lina!" Ajax howled as he stood over her unconscious wolf. Suddenly he felt the same sharp stick as he looked around, and saw a smaller Titan dressed in a long robe as he also felt the darkness surrounding him.
Hezin snarled as he sat up. He was worried this would happen. Disappearing from his room, he appeared on bended knee in front of Damian. “My Prince. Ajax has been taken along with the sister of the chosen one. They've been given an injection of something that has rendered them unconscious. I need help to awaken Ajax so that he can save the she-wolf and can tell us where he's been taken to.”
Damian nodded as he listened to Hezin. “Galena, please come to me.”
Galena appeared with a bow as she answered, “How may I serve you, my Prince?”
“Dear sister, Hezin needs some help in awakening someone he is possessing. Can you share with him the ability to deal with the drug that is making them unconscious?” Damian asked.
“Of course,” Galena smiled at Hezin. Taking his hands into hers, she closed her eyes and sent to him the incantation needed to push the drug from Ajax's body.
Once she was done, Hezin bowed to her as he said, “Thank you, my lady.”
“Of course, Commander Hezin. Anytime you need my help, please come to see me.”
Hezin smiled and nodded before saying, “I'll return to my quarters and will let you know as soon as I have anything to report, my Prince.”
“Of course! Thank you again, Hezin,” Damian smiled at him as he watched him leave. “What do you think of Hezin?”
“He’s more loyal than most. He’s to be trusted completely because he could never harm his Queen or her mate,” Galena replied with a smile.
“Of that I have no doubt, but that's not what I ask, my sister,” Damian smirked.
“Dear brother, just because I was mistaken in thinking I’d found love with a human doesn't mean I'm ready to be mated. It will happen one day.”
“Of that I have no doubt. You deserve happiness more than most.”
Galena smiled at her brother before leaving to return to her quarters. She knew her Queen would need her again soon and she needed to replenish her powers completely.
Hezin quickly returned to his quarters and laying down, he closed his eyes and began to push his powers into Ajax as he said, “Breathing in and out, may that which forces your eyes closed, leave your soul so that I may know what you know, see what you see.
“Breathing in and out, may that which forces your eyes closed, leave your soul so that I may know what you know, see what you see.
“Breathing in and out, may that which forces your eyes closed, leave your soul so that I may know what you know, see what you see.” Over and over he repeated it as he felt the drugs in Ajax's body seep out of his pours.
As he felt Ajax return to consciousness, he said to him, *'Don't let them know you're awake. When you can, slowly open your eyes and look around you.'*
Ajax heard Hezin and tried not to move or groan, both of which he wanted to do. Whatever the Titans had used to knock him out did a number on his senses. Looking around after slowly opening his eyes, he was surprised to see that he and Avalina were in the back of a car. *'I’m in a car of some sort. It looks like the Titans, transferred us to these... they smell like Daemoni... that are driving us. Any idea where they’re taking us?'*
*'Portals are hard to create and drain even the most powerful quickly. If a portal is created near a natural source of power, it lessens the drain.'*
*'So they're probably taking us to where a portal is. I need to get Avalina out of here.'*
*'Look around, is the car door easily unlocked? Can you hear if you’re on a busy road or not?'*
*'They must have a lot of faith in that sedative because our hands aren't restrained and the doors aren't locked. I don't think we’re on a busy road, why? You aren't suggesting that I push her out from a moving car onto the road are you?'*
*'It may be our only chance to save her but I don't suggest that you push her out and not go with her. This is what I suggest you do. Wrap her up in your arms and both of you escape. Then, push her somewhere hidden, perhaps under another vehicle, and distract them so that they only end up recapturing you.'*
*'Yeah, ok, I think that'll work. We're slowing down. Ok here it goes.'* Pulling Avalina into his arms, he pushed open the door and rolled them out of the vehicle. As soon as they came to a stop, he looked around for someplace for Avalina to hide. Seeing a vehicle nearby, he rolled her under the vehicle and then seeing an orange cone nearby, moved it so that it distracted from her shadow.
He hoped between that darkness, orange cone and him running, it would distract them from finding her. He also noticed a bunch of humans nearby. Those that had him wouldn't want to make a big scene. Running towards the people, he made a point not to run too fast, after all he wanted them to catch him.
With a smile he saw the car stop and immediately those in the car started to chase after him. He put up a minimal fight as if he were still groggy when they caught up to him. “Nothing to worry about folks, it's just our drunk buddy thinking he's being funny,” the passenger called out.
“Shit! Where’s the other one? Do you see her?”
“No, but I think we should get out of here. Too many cameras and we don't need the cops showing up,” the driver muttered as they half carried, half dragged him to the car.
“Ok, ok. We'll just act like we only ever got one. Let's get out of here. Dammit how is he waking up so fast? He should be out for a couple of hours.”
“You know how stupid those creatures are. They probably didn't give him the right dose,” the driver complained as they opened the back door and shoved him inside “Come on bud, let's get you home,” he said really loudly for the benefit of anyone watching.
“Escape like that again and we'll kill you and be done with it. We clear?”
Ajax simply nodded as he moaned softly. *'They bought it. We aren't far from Mythos.'*
*'Then she'll be fine. Are you ok?'*
*'Yeah, I'm fine. Let's see where they take me now.'*
