Chapter 27

*'My friend, the females are okay for now. They’re understandably scared and uneasy but they remain unharmed,'* Hezin told Ajax.

*'That's a relief. They're moving us. We appear to be in some sort of large city. From what we've overheard, it might be the capitol of Talos. We've been told that once we get to the slave camp we'll be held there until King Reniac decides our fate,'* Ajax told him as he tried to take in everything he could.

*'I'm watching through your eyes so that when we come to Talos we'll know where you're being held.'*

*'Awesome! I hope what I'm seeing helps. With all this time on my hands I've been thinking and I couldn't help but wonder why the Titans are bothering with Lycan slaves if they simply plan to unmake everything. It seems like a waste of resources and gives hints as to what they're planning,'* Ajax told him. He found he was enjoying these conversations with Daemoni. They certainly made this crazy idea of his much more tolerable.

*'I was wondering that as well. My Queen suspects it's because they don't believe the realms will be unmade rather that only their powers will be returned and that all realms will then submit to them. Her information comes from Lord Chaos himself so I tend to believe him.'*

*'That actually makes sense. Everything I've heard and what little I've seen says that King Reniac has a rather large ego. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he saw himself more important than even Lord Chaos. Seriously, though, are they stuck in the olden Earth times. I don't see anything mechanical, no cars, no trains, nothing but weird creatures pulling carts. It really feels like I've stepped back in time.'* Ajax bemoaned. The smells that accompanied the lack of technology were far from pleasant.

*'I would think that would be because Lord Chaos cut them off from the other realms, but I find it interesting that they've progress so little themselves,'* Hezin mused.

*'Well, we've arrived at some sort of camp near the center of town. They're unloading us and moving us to another cage inside the largest tent. They'll probably keep us here for a while.'*

*'I'm right here if anything changes. Either way, I'll check back in with you after a while.'*

Ajax settled down into his new cage as he fiddled with his metal collar. His wolf wanted out badly but he was unable to shift with the collar. Looking around he realized most of the other Lycans were still unconscious. It made him wonder what they gave them for it to affect them so strongly. Whatever it was, the sooner Thea got his butt out of this cage and collar, the happier he'd be.

Darius was involved in looking over the latest reports that had come in when his phone rang. “Yes, Merie?”

“Dr. Hustinger just called. They've finished their tests and he has some interesting results he wants to go over with you. Do you want me to have him come to your office?” his assistant asked.

“No. I'll go down to the laboratories. It keeps them in check if I to make an appearance every now and then. I shouldn't be gone too long.”

“Lunch should arrive soon as well.”

“Excellent, please let Helen know. I'll be back soon,” he said before he hung up and got up to head down to the laboratories of D Corporation. Taking the elevator down to the labs he was relieved that the tests were complete. The Red Moon was right around the corner and Thea needed these results as soon as possible. Exiting the elevator and pushing through the laboratory doors, he asked, “You have results, Dr. Hustinger?”

Dr. Hustinger, the head of the laboratories of D Corporation, replied with a nod, “We do. When you told me this was highly dangerous you weren't joking. With the unique structure of the Mythic blood you provided I held out little hope this would work, and I couldn't have been more wrong. It destroyed the blood instantly until we reached a dilution of one to five thousand. It was at that point that it lost it's viability.”

“So, at what ratio does the harm to the Daemoni stop?”

“That's where things get interesting. This poison loses its viability against Daemoni blood at a ratio of one to five hundred. It’s ten times stronger against the green Mythic blood than it is against the Daemoni blood. For sheer comparison we tried against human blood. With it's weak qualities in comparison to the two other blood types we thought for sure human blood would be the weakest against it. The contrary is true. It loses it's viability at a ratio of one to one hundred.”

“Did you test Lycan blood?”

“With all of the issues against them, we thought we should. It falls closer to the Mythic blood you provided to us.”

“Very, very interesting indeed! Do you have any of the poison I provided to you left?”

“We do. We really didn't have to use much. We sealed it back into the box you provided to us. Here it is along with the reports I'm sure you'll need. Is there anything else we can help you with?”

“No, this is exactly what I needed. Thank you!” Darius smiled as he gathered up the report and box. Leaving the laboratory he headed up to his office where he pulled out his cell phone and immediately called Damian. “Hey! I have it.”

“Oh wonderful! I'll be right there,” Damian smiled.

“See you soon,” Darius replied as he sat everything down on his desk and went to his safe where he'd kept the remaining vials. Pulling out the special case, he closed up his safe and walked back to his desk. Opening it up the box, he replaced the vials just as Damian appeared in his office. “How is my granddaughter?”

“In perfect health now but incredibly busy, as you can imagine. I have to remind her to eat, and she still gets irritable when I force her to take a break,” Damian chuckled.

“She's always been like that. When she gets involved in solving something, whether is be a translation or ending a war, she goes and goes. Thank you for always looking after her. She needs that. It's why she had Glen before you. I know Glen misses her.”

“He does. We've had him and Danyael to the palace for visits regularly. Amelia has been trying to convince him to join her at the palace because she said that she needs someone of his caliber. I think she just wants to know how he managed to keep up with Thea,” Damian laughed.

“That's a secret we've all tried to get out of him. He just laughs at us!” Darius chuckled. “Ok, back to business. Do you have the ability to dilute?”

“We do indeed. We just didn't have the ability to discover the ratios in a timely manner.”

“Well, you'll be surprised by what we discovered. The Titans are fifty times more susceptible than humans are and ten times more susceptible than the Daemoni. The only ones that we tested that have a similar susceptibility to the Titans are the Lycans but after everything that we've learned about their connection that actually makes a lot of sense,” Darius explained as he showed Damian the reports.

“So we'll be able to dilute it and it won't harm the Daemoni. That's fantastic news!”

“I would be wary of it in it's purest form. The only one safe at that stage is Thea herself,” Darius smirked. “She'll enjoy knowing that,” Damian chuckled. “How much did you have to use?”

“Maybe a tenth of one of the vials so you should have plenty.”

“This will turn this war on it's head! Thank you for everything, Darius,” Damian smiled as he shook Darius' hand.

“There’s no need for thanks, we're family. Anyone who declares war on family, declares war on us!” Darius said as he returned his smile and grasped his hand firmly.
