Chapter 19
A knock on the door got Raymond to look up from the papers he was working on, "come in."
The door opened and Katherine entered, she took a deep breath before approaching his desk. Raymond's eyes were on her every step she took, he was trying to figure out why she came to his office. Ever since he got married with Felicity, Katherine had never come to his office, "sorry for interrupting your work sir" she apologized.
"No need McCarthy, rather I'm wondering why you are here."
"Actually sir, I have been thinking" she heaved a breath "I was hoping if you can allow Felicity to come spend the weekend with me. I have missed her a lot."
A slow smile crawled up to his lips, "ah, Katherine, Katherine, Katherine" he shook his head slowly "look at what you are asking. That I should let my wife spend the weekend with you, what about me her husband?"
"Well, I believe you will have somewhere more tantalizing and important you will like to be and you won't have to worry about her when you are away."
"I don't have anywhere I will want to be McCarthy, or you have somewhere you want to introduce me to?"
Katherine remained silent for a while "I just miss her" she whispered.
"Then you have to deal with it. Felicity and I are married, I will love to spend the weekend with my wife."
Katherine looked up at him then "but the wedding is not real. Besides, I'm sure she will be disturbing you by now. I'm giving you a chance to be free from her whining this weekend" she pouted.
"Point of correction, the wedding is real. And no, she is not disturbing me, maybe a little but the truth is that I..." Kind of enjoys it, he wanted to add but he can't let her hear that, neither will he bring himself to say it "I can deal with it and I don't need your saving from my wife."
"Are you falling for my niece sir?" She gave him a cocky smile.
"Dream on McCarthy. It's only been two weeks, a man like me don't fall in love and even if we do, it will take more than two weeks to get us to bend. It's that clear McCarthy?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Whatever! I hope you don't anyway. I wouldn't want my niece spending the rest of her life with such like you. You will do nothing but break her heart" she mumbled.
"What is that I hear McCarthy?" Raymond asked with an icy tone.
"Nothing sir, I said nothing."
"Good."
"But sir, about my request..."
"My wife will not be spending the weekend with you. But as the good nephew in law that I am" he smiled "I will allow you to come over to my house and spend the weekend with her. The choice is not open forever" he added before going back to his document "that will be all McCarthy."
Katherine wanted to stump her foot in anger but no matter what, she mustn't forget who she was talking to, she sighed to calm herself "I will think on the option sir."
"Your choice and be fast with it before I change my mind."
"Yes sir" she glared at him before leaving the office.
Raymond looked up then, his gaze at the door as he wondered why he refused Felicity going to her place. It's not like there is anything special she was doing for him or that sort but why couldn't he let her go? Why did he have the feeling that Katherine might introduce her to another man? If Katherine was like that, would Felicity still be a virgin? Ah, he must stop having this wild thoughts but the truth is, he only feels relaxed and at home when she was within his eyesight. Anytime he is not with her, he keep having this feeling that he won't meet her at home when he returns. Does he like this disturbing feelings? Hell no. He hate it with passion, he has never been so unsecured with a woman before, who she is with or what she was doing at the moment is not his problem, but the same doesn't go with his wife.
She acts like a child but it was that her innocent nature that keeps drawing him in, the fear that she knows nothing and might get into trouble always grips his heart and now Katherine just asked if he was falling in love with her? Hell no, no, a big no, a big big no, a big bigbig no, he is not falling in love with her, he can't fall in love with her, she is not his type of woman, she is too innocent for his liking. But why was it that last night when he was with one of his bimbos, he couldn't stop thinking of Felicity's shy innocent hand on his sausage? Damn, why is he always thinking of his dick as a sausage now?
He face palmed and cursed Katherine for walking into his office and making him think now, he tried to clear his head so that he can concentrate on his work and thankfully, he was able to do it.
?
Getting home later that evening, Raymond got out of his car, he loosened his tie and removed his jacket, he folded it on his left arm and picked up his briefcase before walking into the house, "little Ray" a honey gold haired woman ran into his arms, em, make that a girl since that was how she acted. His left arm holding his suit subconsciously wrapped on her waist to steady her, "look who came visiting" she said excitedly while Raymond released his hold on her when he realized what he was doing, he looked behind her at who was sitting on the sofa. Surprised clouded his eyes when he saw Grace "she just showed up today" Felicity continued, "she said nanny Mercy texted her the address" she chuckled and went to sit beside Grace again whose attention was fixed on Raymond.
Raymond approached them with a faint smile "how are you Grace? It's so nice of you to pay us a visit."
"I'm okay and I'm sorry for not coming sooner. I was just so busy at work" she smiled shyly.
"Hey, I thought you said your boyfriend wouldn't let you leave him alone at home?" Felicity accused.
"No, not that Felicity, I was busy at the office that's what I said, you just didn't hear me well" she tried to cover up.
Felicity pouted with a creased brow "I'm pretty sure I heard you correctly, you also said you have never seen a man wild like him in bed, which I still don't understand what you mean by now" she looked at Raymond with her eyes shining "little Ray, how can a man be wild in bed?"
"Don't worry, I will show you one day" he smiled.
Felicity nodded with a smile then.
"Em, I em" Grace was at lost of words, if she had known Felicity would go blabbing everything she told her in front of Raymond, she wouldn't have said anything at all "how was work today?" She decided to divert the discussion.
"Great, thanks for asking" he replied before looking at Felicity "where is nanny Mercy?"
"Oh, she left with Gloria, they said they were going to get groceries."
"Okay, I will be up in my room" he climbed up the stairs and disappeared from their view while Grace kept staring at the empty staircase dreamily.
"What are you staring at? Is there something up there?" Felicity asked, jolting her back into present.
"What? Nothing. No, there is nothing there, I was just admiring the...em handrails."
"It's beautiful right?"
"Yes, Raymond is a man of taste" she said with a flirting tone which sadly, Felicity did not detect "what are you still doing here? Your husband is back from work, you should go up to your room and take a shower so that you will smell nicely to him by the time he comes downstairs."
"Really? Is that necessary?"
"Of course, don't you want your husband to keep loving you?
"I want him to keep loving me."
"Then always make yourself beautiful and ready for him. Now go up there and take a shower."
"Oh, okay" Felicity sprung to her feet "do you want to come with me?"
"No, I will like to look around."
"But I already showed you everywhere."
"Yes, but this place is so big, I have forgotten some places" she smiled "go on, I will be right here waiting by the time you return."
"Alright" she climbed up the stairs straight to her room.
Grace went upstairs almost after her.
"This is Raymond's room" she smiled and opened the door, she walked in only to see Raymond stepping out of the bathroom, he had a towel on his waist, beads of water on his upper body, his biceps, his torso so alarmingly beautiful and inviting, she sensed herself wetting in a particular place and she smiled.
Raymond was shocked to see her.
He never knew he will be meeting someone in his room and it happens to be his wife's best friend, looking at him like that.
He walked to his wardrobe and brought out a new towel, he used it to dry his hair as he said "I dislike people entering my room without knocking."
"Sorry, my bad. I will have that in mind for next time."
