Raymond stilled like a statue when he heard her, does that mean Felicity ended up telling her everything? But why? He regained himself almost immediately, not letting her know he was shocked at her question "firstly, I will like to oppose you on that, the contract didn't say I'm not to go close to her, it said that I'm not to hurt her which I didn't? She didn't complain that I did anything right, so technically, I didn't breach the contract."
"You did and you know it. You were not to hurt her, not to touch her and you did the latter!"
"Yes I did. And I assure you it won't repeat itself. I was drunk that night and like every other married man, I wanted to have my wedding night but then I remembered the contract, which made me stop. But in my defense, she actually enjoyed it."
"I can't believe you!"
"But she did. The way she was moaning and calling out to me."
"I never allowed you to do that to her Raymond!"
"Hmm, first name basics? I don't think I ever allowed that."
"But you address me with mine."
"You are my staff McCarthy, and I owe no explanation to you but I only do that when there is someone else around."
"Fine, I'm sorry, Mr. Baldwin. But that still don't explain the fact that you didn't follow the rules of the contract. What should be your penalty then?"
"Now to stop you there. Legally, Felicity is my wife and I have every right to do whatever I want with her" he can't believe he was fighting over this, trying to leave a point when he knows there is none. He breached the contract means he breached the contract, he can't see why he was trying to justify his actions. But one thing is clear, he will never lose to Katherine neither will he admit to having an attraction to Felicity, which he knows he don't.
"Between us and the contract, you know it's fake. We only carried on with a real wedding because your grandparents offered to prepare the wedding. So don't hook you faults on the wedding. You went against the rule!"
Raymond pinched the bridge of his nose, he just have to admit it, there is no reasoning with Katherine, especially when she knows she is right. "What do you want McCarthy?"
"I want to shorten how long Felicity has to live with you."
"There is absolutely no way I'm going to agree to that. We said one year, then one year it shall be."
"You breached the contract. You deserve to pay a penalty!"
"Fine, mention what ever you want but there is no way I'm going to agree to shortening the length of her stay with me. I said one year for a reason and you know it. This contract is not going to end before I get my reason of even signing it, so dream on McCarthy!"
"You were the one who broke the rules, I should be the one to raise a penalty!"
"And I say mention whatever you want!"
"And I did!"
"There is no way that is going to be possible McCarthy. Stop pushing it. We agreed on one year because that's how long I need for my grandparents to give me the company. This contract can only end when that time happens. Not a day less or a day more, do I make myself clear?"
Katherine had to bit her tongue to swallow her words, this man in front of her is still her boss, no matter what, she shouldn't push him to the edge, but he started it. Where is the pride and boastful Raymond who always claimed that her niece is not his type? "I can't believe that after all your denials, you still fell for my niece" she smirked.
"What the heck are you talking about?"
"Oh you do know what I'm talking about. All those your prideful words were nothing. 'Dream on McCarthy, I will never fall for your niece' 'don't worry McCarthy, your niece is not my type' 'I don't do love McCarthy and if I do, it certainly won't be with your niece' well, look what happened now. You actually went to her on the night of the wedding. You didn't even wait for a single day more or even like five months before" she mocked him.
Raymond was embarrassed, he couldn't look up at her, but there is no way he was going to admit it "your all too innocent niece seduced me" he regretted the words immediately they left his mouth. Who would ever believe a girl like Felicity is capable of seduction? But come to think of it, she did seduce him. She intentionally turned on the hot water tap that night and showcased her succulent breasts with cute pink nipples in front of him. Thinking of those sweet nipples and the feel of it in his mouth, a certain part of him immediately reacted and he cursed inwardly.
"What? Felicity, seduced you? Listen to yourself. She had known no man her entire life. Ever since her parents death, you are the first man that have ever crossed her part, so tell me, where have she been with a man that she is capable of seduction?"
He knew that was a lame excuse, he mustered up the courage to look at her and he tried to shun her with his authoritative voice "mind the way you speak to me McCarthy, I'm still your boss and believe me, you don't want to know what I'm capable of" he crossed his arms on his chest as he stared at her in an intimidating manner.
"Yes you are and I will never forget that but that also doesn't mean I cannot mock you for failing on your own words. Looks like the arrogant and playboy Raymond Baldwin has been tamed and it took only a novice bride to bring him to his knees, hmph" she turned and left the room.
Raymond slumped on the armchair, he wiped his face and let out an exasperated sigh, he knew he shouldn't have gotten attracted to Felicity but that doesn't mean he has been tamed by her. He is Raymond Baldwin and he can't be tamed, yes, no one can bring him to his knees and he is going to prove that to McCarthy. It's going to take a strong woman to get him to bend and that woman is certainly and will never be Felicity Amelia McCarthy.
After confirming that to himself, he nodded and stood up to go take a shower. When he opened the door, he heard Felicity's cute voice saying "nanny Mercy, I'm pregnant!"?
What?
What the fuck?
What does she mean by being pregnant?"
"What do you mean Felicity?" He heard Mercy asked in a light chuckle.
Yes, what does she mean? He also wants to know.
"Stop Felicity, you are not pregnant" Katherine voice was heard.
"But I really am, little Ray slept with me last night."
Raymond face palmed when he heard that, how come he didn't think of that? And this is the woman Katherine believes will bring him to his knees? A woman who believes a man sharing a bed with her for a night will get her pregnant? Ha, dream on McCarthy.
"What do you mean he slept with you?" Mercy asked as he walked up to them.
Felicity's eyes brightened immediately she saw him and she ran to him, she hugged his arm to her chest "little Ray, I'm pregnant" she announced "this morning I was dizzy just like grandma mentioned that other time and remembering you slept with me last night, I knew I was pregnant. Are you happy?"
Raymond freed his arms from her tight hold, he could see the look of rejection on her face but he couldn't care less, he wouldn't let himself care "you are not pregnant" he dropped.
"Why does everyone keep saying that?"
"Because you are not" Katherine added.
"I don't understand. Grace said if a husband and a wife sleeps together, she will become pregnant and grandma also asked me that last time if I was feeling dizzy. Little Ray slept in my room last night and I felt dizzy this morning, so I'm pregnant."
Raymond rolled his eyes, "it will take more than a husband and a wife sleeping together for her to get pregnant."
"Really, what else?"
"Well the husband has to put his sausage or so you will call it, into the wife's..."
"Raymond!" Katherine shouted.
"What? Isn't she supposed to know at her age?"
"Not like this."
"Whatever" he rolled his eyes again.
"So, I'm not pregnant?" Felicity asked with a tinge of tears in her eyes.
"You should be happy. You really don't want to be pregnant. You have to take care of yourself first before taking care of a child" he mocked and walked to the foot of the stairs "imagine a child raising a child" he scoffed "unbelievable" he climbed up the stairs.
Felicity was hurt by his words, she might not be matured enough but she is intelligent "little Ray called me a child" she choked out, her tears fell almost immediately.
"Darling it's okay" both Katherine and Mercy reached out for her.
Raymond heard her words from the stairs and his heart broke. He didn't want to insult her condition but he just really needs to prove to Katherine that he was not falling for her and also...to himself.
But if so, why does his heart feel like he has been pierced by a thousand knives? Why does he want to be the one hugging her now, telling her he was sorry. But he couldn't, he has to make his point and so, he walked on.
