Chapter 40
Four years later, Katherine was in her office when a reminder went off in her phone. She stopped going through the document in her hand and picked up her phone, when she saw the note in the reminder, she immediately dropped the phone and her writing pen. She took of her reading glasses and arranged her desk neatly. Piling up the documents in one side on the desk.
Katherine stood up and put on her jacket, she grabbed her phone, her handbag and her car key. She rushed out of the office in quick strides that was surprising with her heels. When she got to the elevator, she saw Raymond walking out of it on call and she immediately took the stairs. She can't afford him seeing her now.
Even though they had became quite closer with the years, something's are not in her power to decide. She came out from the stairway on the next floor and took the elevator.
She rushed to her car and immediately got in, she ignited the car while dropping her handbag on the passenger's seat, she was so giddy and happy.
"Ha, at last" she whispered with a happy smile as she steered her car out of the underground parking lot. Minutes later, she pulled over in front of the airport and checked her time, damn, she was already ten minutes late.
She jumped out of the car and inside the airport she ran, her eyes searching frantically at the faces of people swarming around her. She was walking in heavy steps, hoping and praying she wasn't too late. Her eyes looking everywhere she saw a being.
"Grandaunt!" a cute little voice called to her and she turned, she will know that voice anywhere. A sweet smile appeared on her lips as she watched the cute little legs running towards her. She went down on her knees with her arms opened wide as they came slamming into her. Her hold tightened on them as she laughed heartily.
"Oh my darlings, I have missed you" she said before she started kissing them all over their faces "muah, muah, muah, oh my honeys. Come one, give me a kiss."
Two little mouths touched each side of her cheeks and she grinned. Oh, her lonely days are over.
"Ha, thank goodness it's you Katherine, this two won't give me a heart attack" Mercy said as she panted heavily, she glared at the two little munchkins who were now laughing at her, "how many times will I tell you to stop running off like that?"
"Sorry nanny Mercy" they both chanted in their cute little voices.
Katherine smiled then and faced the little ones, "you should take it easy on old Mercy here. You don't want her looking for you everywhere and it's your first time here. You can't afford to get lost."
"Sorry grandaunt, it's all Sofie's fault, she was the one who started running first and I had to follow her to make sure she is okay" said a cute, handsome little boy with brunette hair and light gray eyes. His lips were thin, pinkish and added a spark of beauty to his sweet little face. He was grinning at the little girl who was pouting for being blamed for their naughtiness.
"You are lying. You were the one that said you want us to find grandaunt first" Sofia, the little girl with honey gold hair and big emerald green eyes. She had a small pouting lips that made her so adorable that one will want to kiss her at sight. Her cheeks were chubby that one will want to give it a pinch because of how soft they looked. She looked so adorable and cute. She was pouting now and pointing her finger to her elder brother who is about two inches taller than her and grinning.
"Don't listen to her grandaunt, she is lying" he turned to say to Katherine immediately.
Katherine chuckled, "alright, alright. No need to keep throwing blames. Maybe you should-" she was interrupted by a lady dressed in skinny jeans with a long coat. Her honey gold hair was left flying on her shoulders, she was wearing sunglasses and high heels. She was dragging a trolley of luggage behind her and was smiling as she approached closer.
"I told you they ran away because they might have seen aunty Katy nanny Mercy" she said as stopped and looked at the little ones, "I will deal with you two when we get home" the two children pouted and stared at their feet. The lady chuckled before looking at Katherine, her chuckle blossoming into a beautiful smile, "aunt Katy" she hugged the older woman tightly who also hugged her back.
"Oh my dear, I can't believe you finally decided to come back" Katherine smiled.
"I'm done with school, what else will I be doing there? Beside I know you are missing these two devils."
"We are not devils" they said grumpily, deriving a laughing fit from the older ones.
"Let's us go. I can't wait to finally hear their laughter at home."
"Believe me aunt Katy, you won't be hearing laughter. You will be complaining" Felicity rolled her eyes.
"No problem, I won't mind" she smiled and grabbed the hand of each of the little ones as they walked out of the airport.

Raymond went to Katherine's office to ask her something, he knocked on her office door but no one answered, "Katherine, you in there?"
When he got no answer still, he turned the handle and pushed the door open only to see the office was empty. He frowned and fetched out his phone from his pocket to dial her number. Why didn't she tell him she was going out? He wondered.
The call connected on second ring, "hey Katherine, I'm in your office, where are you?"
"Oh I'm sorry, I had to run out a bit. Sorry I didn't tell you."
"It's okay, will you be back?"
"Em...not really. It will have to be tomorrow. Do you need me for anything?"
"Em, no, not really. Eh, I-I just wanted to em, ask you something."
"Really? What's that?"
"Actually, I just want to know when you will be going to Florida, you know. There is something I want you to give to her for me."
"Oh. Em, I don't really know yet. I will let you know when I decide."
"Okay, thanks. I hope you are okay?"
"Yea I'm fine."
"Alright then. Take care of yourself."
"Thanks, see you tomorrow."
He hung up and looked around the office before leaving for his own.
?
Meanwhile, in Katherine's home, she hung up the phone and stepped into the house to hear the children shouting as they ran around the living room. She sighed as she gently placed her phone on the coffee table, her eyes not leaving the playing children.
She ended up drifting into thoughts as she wondered how Raymond will react when he finds out he has not one but two children.
Will he be happy and will they give him more motivation to win back Felicity?
Or will he get scared and back off from his responsibilities?
Knowing Raymond, he will never do the latter. Or is she thinking too much?
But, these few years has given her a better understanding of who he is. It turns out that his cold, aloof nature was just a wall he put up to protect his fragile heart.
Learning from him how his own parents abandoned him for some contract made her feel bad for him. She means, which son won't feel dejected that his own parents abandoned him, making him feel like his unimportant in the world?
Her eyes settled on the little boy who seems to be the duplicate of his father, only that he is the mini version of him. Something tells her that he will not only look like his father but will also take on his personality.
Even now, at four eyes, he already owns that Kingly halo, what more of when he grew up? He might even be ten times Raymond in arrogance if not properly trained and cautioned.
Which is why she feels that Raymond should be around them because they will come a time when both her and Felicity can't even control him and that will be when the father will be needed. And someone like Darryl will only listen to his father if he fears him.?
If he ends up becoming a teenager before Raymond will be introduced in his life, then it's bye bye father's respect because he will find it hard to listen to him just like Raymond hardly listens to his father now.
She just don't know why the boy took after him so much while his little sister is just like their mother.
Even at four, Darryl is already so scheming and smart, imagine when he becomes a teenager or an adult? He will be worse than his dad, that she already know.
Someone like Darryl will not only rent a bride to fool his grandparents but will also adopt a child and claim as his own. That's how scheming he can be, so she and Felicity really need Raymond to tie him down, if not, he will be a lost ship because it's even hard to control him now.
But the problem now is, will Felicity forgive their father?
"Aunt, are you okay?" A heart soothing voice called her out of her thoughts and she turned to see her niece carrying a tray of snacks, standing beside the kitchen door. She smiled to her and nodded.
"Yes, I'm okay."
"Okay" Felicity nodded "it's just that you have been standing there for long" she placed the tray on the coffee table and looked at the playing kids "alright enough, come have a snack. Darryl!" She shouted to the boy who was tying his sister's hair in a knot with a stray thread from her gown.
The boy looked at her and grinned, freeing his sister from his prank and running towards them with his little feet.
Felicity sighed, what is she going to do with this boy? So many times she had been tempted to put him in a box and mail him to his father since he took after him so much but at the end, she will always abolish the idea. He is her son and hers alone. She will take care of him.
It wasn't long, Sofia's crying voice was heard as she expected, she looked at her to see that Darryl had squeezed a cracker to crumbs and poured on her hair. Felicity sighed and carried her in her arms before glaring at Darryl who just shrugged and started eating his snacks quietly.
Katherine chuckled before helping to dust off the biscuit from Sofia's hair, "where is Mercy?"
"She didn't sleep a wink in the plane because of these two and so is taking a nap."
"Age is catching up on her."
"Of course" Felicity nodded absentmindedly while dusting her daughter's hair "she said she will be leaving to check up on her daughter though."
"Of course, it's been long she saw her. I can't thank her enough for what she did for you."
"Neither I aunty Katy, neither I."
"I have been meaning to ask you, now that you are back, what are you planning to do?"
"What else? I'm going to get a job. I won't let you handle all the expenses."
Katherine smiled, being a mother has changed Felicity a lot, coupled with the lessons she took. Sometimes, when they converse, she finds it difficult to believe that this is her Felicity who hardly converse for long without adding the stories she read in a picture book and always demanding to be taken to the amusement park and love eating cakes and ice cream. Although she still love those but not as before, "oh. Have anywhere in mind?"
Felicity shook her head and picked a cracker, feeding it to the little one sitting on her laps, "not really."
"There are some vacancies in the office. I'm sure you will be hired if you apply-"
"Aunt, I don't want to work for him" Felicity interrupted.
"But he will pay well-"
"I don't want to see him. To hell to both him and his money."
"Felicity."
"Aunt please. I don't want to talk about him."
"Who don't you want to talk about mom?" Darryl looked up from his plate of snacks.
"Shut up and eat" Felicity shunned.
"Is it my daddy?" He persisted.
Both Katherine and Felicity went into shock.
How did he know that?
"Who told you that?"
The boy shrugged, "well, nanny Mercy said I will meet someone important to me when we come here. And the only person important to me who I haven't met yet is my daddy."
