Chapter 26

When Raymond got home that day, he had dinner with Felicity before following her into her room.?
Felicity was surprised and she asked him out of her excitement "are you sleeping with me today little Ray?"
Raymond stilled for a moment but he smiled later "no, not today."
"Oh" a trace of disappointment was clear on her face "why are you here then?"
"I want to talk to you" his fingers traced her face involuntarily, realizing what he was doing, he dropped his hand. Just why is it that she makes him wants to be gentle with her, no woman has ever derived such feelings from him and he is not sure he likes it. He can't lose to Katherine by loving Felicity right?
"What is it?"
"I talked with aunt Katy today."
"Why?"
"Do you remember the day we went to grandparents house?" When she nodded, he continued "we talked in the car about you having a miscarriage right?"
"Yes" she whispered.
"Don't worry, it's fake okay?" He smiled "we will have it tomorrow. Grandma will visit us and nanny Mercy is going to pour blood on you."
Felicity stiffened "no, I don't want blood" the panic was evident on her face as she started shaking.
"It's okay. It's not real blood, it's a paint" Raymond grabbed her shoulders to steady her "it's only a red paint, it's not real blood okay? And you will only sit on it, you will not touch it, then I will come and I will carry you away."
"Like a princess?" She asked with her tearful eyes.
"Yes, like a princess" he smiled "you don't have to worry okay, I will be there."
"You will not leave me?"
"I will not leave you."
"That day, mummy and daddy left me" she sniffed.
"I won't" he hugged her, when Katherine told him, he really didn't know she was that sensitive to blood. And if it wasn't for the matter at hand, he will never have to let her see a drop of blood.

The next day, Hana and Desmond visited them like planned. They bought a lot of baby things and an ice cream for Felicity, it was her favorite and she didn't hesitate in showing them she loves it by jumping up and down. Hana had to still her, "now now, little Lee, you wouldn't want to hurt the little one in your tummy right?" She removed a strand of hair from her face affectionately.
"I told you we shouldn't even get her the ice cream" Desmond said grumpily.
"Just this once, let her have it this once."
Felicity smiled and started licking the ice cream. Mercy came and took all the baby things they bought to keep in a safe place. Hopefully, the time will come for them to actually use it, she thought.
While they discuss later as they wait for Raymond to come home, Mercy approached them "alright Felicity, it's time for you to take your bath."
"Oh, it's true" Felicity stood up "grandma, grandpa, please wait for me, I want to take a bath" she beamed.
"It's okay dear, we will be here. Just be careful in the bathroom okay?" Hana advised worriedly.
"Yes grandma" she and Mercy left.
When they got to Raymond's room, Mercy asked her to undress while she entered the bathroom and spilled some of the blood on the floor. She called Felicity in later. She froze when she saw the blood "is it really paint?"
"Yes dear, now come on, get into the bath and pour some water on your body, we have to make it look like you slipped and hit your stomach on the bath."
Felicity did everything she was told to do, Mercy spilled some blood in between her legs before asking her to lie on the floor and wait for a while before screaming.
She nodded and Mercy left the room. By the time she came downstairs, Raymond was already back and discussing with his grandparents, he looked at her then and acted naturally "she is still taking her bath?"
"Yes sir, she is still in the tub" she smiled "I will go fix dinner" with that, she entered the kitchen.
"Grandma, I need to go freshen up too and to get Felicity out, she loves the water a lot."
Hana chuckled "I can remember I loved the water too when I was pregnant with your father."
"Please don't reminisce now" he rolled his eyes.
Hana slapped his chest jokingly "go away you foolish boy, you stink like a troll."
"Grandma" Raymond called before rolling his eyes once more "you know I don't..." His sentence was interrupted by a shrilling scream that his heart missed a beat, he almost forgot it was part of their plan as he dashed up the stairs. The scream sounded so real, Felicity must be an actress to scream like that, he thought as he pushed open the door to his room.
Felicity was lying in the blood crying, her tears were real, her hands covered in blood. Raymond forgot about the plan and rushed to her, he picked her up and she was sobbing hysterically staring at the blood that covered her arms "mom" she whispered "mom."
Raymond knew it was not acting anymore, he hugged her tightly to him "it's okay, I'm here."
"Mom....dad...mom" she kept whispering.
"Oh my God! Felicity" Hana shouted as she approached them "what happened."
"I think she slipped" Raymond answered, he hate to carry on with his line now but he knew Felicity's sacrifice mustn't go to waste, he picked her up "get me a towel" he said to Hana who immediately got him one, he wrapped Felicity with it when Mercy and Desmond entered the bathroom.
"Felicity" Mercy shouted, she rushed to hold her.
"Take her to a hospital Raymond" Desmond barked.
Raymond carried her out of the room and the rest followed him. Felicity was still sobbing in his arms and calling out to her parents softly. They got to the car and Mercy joined him while Hana and Desmond got into their own car with their driver.
Katherine was called on the way to the hospital and they all met there. Raymond's doctor rushed to attend to Felicity immediately while the family members waited in the hall.
Raymond signaled Katherine out to talk with her, "what is it?" She asked.
"I think she is really affected."
"Why do you say so?"
Raymond sighed "she was crying really bad and calling out to her parents when I found her."
"Oh my God, it's the blood" she covered her mouth as her eyes teared up "we shouldn't have..."
"I know, I'm regretting it now. I filled in Henry on our way here, so he is examining her for real now."
"Oh God" Katherine exclaimed "she was really affected during the accident. She hasn't even fully recovered."
"She will be fine" he tried to comfort her.
"She didn't speak for six months after the accident. Seeing her parents in that pool of blood, God, what have I done?"
"Katherine calm down, she will be fine. You will see."
Katherine looked at him, even though he was acting tough, she could see the worry in his eyes. She doesn't know why, but she relaxed at his voice. Maybe it was because he cared for her? She can't tell.
They rejoined the others later just when doctor Henry came to meet them, they all swarmed around him "how is she?" Hana asked for all of them.
"She is fine only that" he shook his head slowly "I'm sorry but, she lost the baby."
"What?" Hana was the first to react "what was I expecting, with all those blood" she hugged Desmond and wept in his arms. Desmond tried to calm her down.
"The fall caused a big impact on her stomach which forced the baby out. I'm truly sorry" he looked at Raymond and signaled him out. Katherine followed them "she will be fine. What could have affected her so much?"
"She watched her parents die. She saw them in their own pool of blood. It was a ghastly car accident" Katherine answered.
Henry nodded "no wonder. But it's okay, she will be fine. She is asleep now."
Raymond and Katherine nodded "thank you."
They went back to the others and they all sat down quietly in the hall.
"Sorry little Ray, I guess you are the most affected. Please stay strong okay, Felicity needs you now" Hana comforted him "another one will come, and he will stay, alright my darling?"
Raymond nodded and smiled faintly.
Desmond said a few words of consolation to him too, as well as Mercy. They stayed together as they waited for Felicity to wake up. Hopefully, better than she was before rather than worse. Raymond and Katherine were actually the ones that said the prayers. Hana and Desmond left later in the night while Raymond and the rest waited.?
The next day, Katherine and Mercy stayed with Felicity when Raymond was called for a meeting at the office. He promised to be back once the meeting was over. Katherine stayed beside Felicity on the bed, seeing the way she was, she regretted coming up with that idea despite knowing she hates blood.
But there was no better way to make the plan more realistic, she prays now that nothing happens to her.
Felicity opened her eyes not long after, she looked from Katherine to Mercy who was looking at her expectantly, her eyes welled up and she muttered "mom."
Katherine squeezed her hand and smiled faintly to her "it's okay my dear, I'm here."
Felicity said nothing but looked at the ceiling, tears strolled down from the corners of her eyes. Katherine dabbed them away and offered to prepare her favorite food for her as breakfast but she said nothing.
When the food was brought, she didn't eat much. Katherine tried to coerce her to eat more but she only curled herself on the bed and said nothing.
Fear was building in Katherine's heart but she didn't want to believe it. Both she and Mercy tried to get her to talk but she said nothing. She only let out "mom" once in a while.
When Raymond came back in the evening and saw the situation at hand, he also tried to make her talk but no progress. Even her eyes that always lit up at the sight of him was dull and soulless when they met his.
He was feeling nervous inside that his stupid idea may have taken the once cheerful and happy Felicity back to the day she lost her parents and he doubts if he would ever forgive himself should that be the case.
Hana visited too along with Desmond, when they saw Felicity so quiet, their hearts went out to her. Hana tried to cheer up "don't worry my darling, you will get pregnant again okay. You don't have to be like this, now, grandma will buy you ice cream when you get back home okay" she smiled but unlike the usual times, she didn't receive the smile back.
She dabbed at her tears while Desmond squeezed her shoulder, she patted his hand and smiled to him to tell him that she is alright. They only have to worry about Felicity now.
Raymond on the other hand didn't know what to do, he called the doctor to examine her but after everything, Henry still told him that she was okay. That she just didn't want to speak.
Felicity was discharged the next day but rather than play around the house as always, she went up to her room and laid down. Her quietness was driving Raymond insane and only then did he realize how much he likes her cheerfulness and her childish actions. Right now, he will take anything she gives him, as long as it gets her to talk.
