Werewolves. Everyday people shifting into powerful wolves under the light of the full moon. Cursed beasts that cannot tell between friend or foe. Creatures that live only on instinct and howl viscously at the full moon. Well, that’s everyday folklore. Let me tell you the real story.
Thousands of years ago when the divine beings roamed the earth, a king named Lycaon worshipped and served the God Zeus. He was a greedy and impatient man. He wanted to confirm if the god he was worshipping was the real Zeus. So, he had his youngest son slain and served his remains as a meal for Zeus to determine if he is all knowing. When Zeus discovered that human remains were served to him, he was disgusted, outraged, and found Lycaon’s doubt in him distasteful. So as Punishment, he and his sons were transformed into wolves for eternity and returned the young boy to life. Centuries later a young goddess named Artemis found Lycaon and his sons in the forest hunting for food to sustain themselves. She followed them for 10 days and 10 nights straight and observed them. When she finally made herself known to Lycaon and his sons, they feared her because they didn't want to be punished more than they already have. When she looked into their eyes, she found sadness and regret, she pitied them. She went to Zeus herself to find out what they did to deserve such a sentence. As she discovered their story, she granted them a gift. Instead of being wild beasts that live on instinct they will be both human and wolves. They may turn into their original human forms for a reprieve and when they are suspected they transform into wolves to protect themselves and to serve the rest of their sentence. Artemis was their savior and they worshipped her from that day fourth, and thus the werewolf race was born.
My name is Athena Goldstein, and I am a werewolf. I am the daughter of the alpha of the most powerful pack in the world, the Mystic Evergreen Pack. We are not just a pack of normal wolves. We are gifted with special powers to influence the elements. Fire, ice, wind, nature, and so many more. My father Granite is a powerful man and can manipulate lightning with his wolf Aeolus. My mother Iris is the Luna of the pack, and she is a very beautiful woman. She and her wolf Aurora have the ability to control nature like plants and animals. Me and my twin brother Aiden, haven't turned 18 yet and we won’t know our wolves or powers until then. Lastly there is our little sister Autumn, she is 8 years old and the sweetest girl you can meet. We are a feared family and pack in this whole world. However, everything changed when a certain pack and a beautiful man came into my life. That’s how it always is isn’t it? A certain damsel is plagued with new responsibilities and a big strong man appears to solve all her problems. Then runs into the sunset with a happy ending. Classic right?
