Chapter 48
*Athena’s POV*
“I must admit, your mate is quite the pet. She will make quite the queen and bed warmer.” Damon sneers at my growling mate. “And I must say, she was exquisite and quite the fighter.”
His smirk widens. “Maybe if you give me what is rightfully mine and beg for forgiveness. I might just share her with you.”
Silas roars in fury and once again lounges at him. Only this time Damon jumps to meet Silas and shifts midair. They snap and try to latch onto each other's necks.
Then a large group of Lunar wolves charge at the rogues and fighting breaks out all around me. Then from the opposite side of the camp Evergreen wolves emerge to join in the fight. Its Beta James’s group. They join the group of Lunar wolves and take down the rogues one by one.
Running towards me I see Freya, using her magic to clear a path towards me and taking down any rogue in her way. The Lunar wolf protecting me steps to the side and takes a knee for me to get on her back. I attempt to get to my feet but the wolfsbane makes it feel as if intense lightning his shooting through my limbs. I fall back to the group with a whimper and the prickling flower crown on my head falls off.
Freya finally reaches me, and crouches done next to me. “Come on sweet girl, you need to get out of here.” She huffs in exertion. She lifts me up and I grit my teeth. I grab onto the wolfs fur and hoist myself up with a helping hand. Once I am secured, Freya turns her attention to the she wolf before she heads back to battle. “Time to go.”
The mystery wolf nods and takes off into a sprint through the camp. She picks up speed once out of this hell hole. Trees are whipping past us, and I hear something running behind us. I manage to crank my head behind us and see two rogues are following.
“W’We’re being followed.” I inform the wolf a bit more frantically I should have. She looks back and a smirk forms on her wolf face. Knowing something that I don’t.
Then she takes off from the ground and flys high. I hold on with all my might as she beats her wings. She is the fastest flyer I have ever seen. The two following cant keep up. In moments they are only specs in the distance. She looks back to confirm that they are no in sight. She starts to descend back to the ground. From there she trots to what looks like a large pack house In the middle of a dense wood.
Then once we get close, a younger woman comes running out of the house and up to us with a set of cloths for the wolf carrying me. She Is a tall, dirty blond, a dark violet mark on her forehead, and icy blue eyes. She gives the cloths to the wolf and offers me a hand to dismount. I start to reach for it but hesitate. She notices my timidness and offers me a gentle smile.
“It’s alright, my name is Cirilla. Im not going to hurt you, I want to help you. Can I help you off the Gamma?” She asks softly. Wait, the wolf I’m on is the Gamma?
I take a moment, but finally give her my hand. She gently helps me slide off the wolf and holds me up. As soon as I’m off, the Gamma runs behind a tree to shift back. The woman that steps out is a breath-taking beauty. She has fiery red hair that reaches her middle back and violet eyes like Silas. Her hair is beach curled to perfection and slightly taller than I am and has just the right amount of curviness.
She runs up and they both help me inside the pack house. Its big but not as lavish as others. It's still nice with a darker setting and white furniture.
“Where do you want her?” Cirilla asks.
“The Alphas room, she’s his mate so she might as well get acquainted with it.” She smirks slightly. If I didn’t feel awful, I would have laughed at that comment. She’s just like Celeste.
They take me to a large and dark stained oak door. Cirilla opens it with a click, revealing a large light grey room and a huge king-sized bed covered in black sheets. There is a dark wood desk with papers neatly stacked and a large bookshelf in the corner filled to the brim with every book imaginable. I can even see the whole Harry Potter series from here.
They lightly place me onto the bed and let me go. I sink into the mattress that feels heavenly and the silky sheets under me are soft against my battered body.
“Before I start checking your injuries would you like me to get you anything? Something to eat, water?” The one called Cirilla asks and places a soft hand on mine.
“Water would be amazing, thank you.” I painfully smile.
She leaves the room leaving me with the Gamma. She takes a seat by my feet and studies me.
“So Silas finally found you.” She giggles. “Thought I would never hear the end of the tantrums on how he’ll never find his mate. He was completely hopeless since he turned eighteen.”
“He was that bad huh?” I giggle with her but wince.
“Mhmm. Fair warning, while you’re here, watch out for the pack sluts. They all jumped at the chance to please the Alpha. Finding out that he has a Luna now will make them livid. They’ll probably try to claw your eyes out.” She shakes her head.
I bark out a laugh that makes my ribs hurt. “You got them too huh?”
“Yup. There is always at least one. Im Charolette by the way, but you can call me Lotte.” She smiles.
“Athena.” I smile back. “You remind me a lot of my best friend. She is obnoxious and says it like it is.”
“Then I gotta meet her, sounds like we will all get along just fine.” Her eyes gleam. Cirilla comes back with a glass of water and a medic bag.
“Shes not annoying you is she? This one can be quite overbearing sometimes.” Cirilla giggles and hands me the glass. I take a huge gulp and try not to spit it out as I see Lotte blow up like a pufferfish.
“Annoying. Just because your Alarics sister doesn’t mean I wont kick your skinny ass to China.” She huffs.
“You’re Alarics sister?” I ask and my eyes widen. Why didn’t I see it before they look so much alike.
“Yup, sometimes not always proud of it. He can sometimes be a bitch boy and a half. I don’t know how the Alpha deals with him.” She shakes her head. Said like a true little sister. She sits next to me and the medic bag.
“Im just going to check out everything and make sure you don’t have lasting damage. After that ill give you something for the pain. Will it be alright if I take this off?” She slightly tugs at the sheer dress.
I swallow some bile that built up in the back of my throat and slowly nod.
She lightly tugs it over my head and I close my eyes and remind myself there is nothing that will hurt me here. He is not here. He is probably being ripped to shreds by my mate right now.
She examines my bruises and cuts and occasionally asks if it hurt while she is touching. She checks to make sure there are no bones broken and asks if the wolfsbane in my system still feels intense.
After she sees there is no long-lasting damage, well expect for this mark etched into my skin. She gives me a injection for the pain and a couple of ice packs for the swollen lumps.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have a witch healer here. Does your pack have one? Only they know the recipes for expelling wolfsbane. This damage will quickly heal when your wolf returns.” She says and gathers her things. I didn’t notice Lotte leave because she returns with a set of cloths that look so comfortable. Cirilla takes them from her and turns towards me. “Would you like help getting these on?”
“No, I think I can get them on thank you.” They smile and talk to each other while I fumble around getting undergarments, fuzzy pants, and a plain soft t-shirt on. Just as I finish there is a knock at the door.
Lotte walks up and turns the knob revealing Silas and Freya. Here safe and sound.
