Chapter 42

*Silas’s POV*
“Luna you need to calm down. Im just as worried as you are.” I keep my composure and say into the phone. After my mate was kidnapped I didn’t know what else to do. Their scents are masked and Aiden ran in a direction away from the rogue scent the Beta and his group are following. So the lead they have is probably a feint to steer us in the wrong direction. Now we have nothing to go off of and Athena can be Goddess knows where. In Damons hands.
“You were supposed to protect her! Shes my baby and this packs last hope of an Alpha. How could you let my sweet girl get taken?!” She sobs into the phone and expresses her anger and sadness that her daughter Is in danger.
“I know Luna, but this isn’t helpful right now. We need to get a lead on her fast.” I whisper.
“Didn’t they leave any scent behind? Couldn’t you have tracked them to where James is currently trailing them?” She suggests while choking back a sob.
“If that were the case I wouldn’t be on the phone with you right now. Their witch managed to cloak their scent and Aiden ran in a direction away from the main rogue scent. Meaning the one the Beta is following is a feint.Their hideout is somewhere else.” Witches are nothing but trouble. They find a way to escape anything.
“You mean they are leading us on a wild goose chase? The bastards.” She growls.
“Can you think of any other way to find my mate? I fear of what Damon might do to her.” I ask with hope. She goes silent for a minute probably pondering on a solution to this predicament.
“I got an idea, ill call back.” She says and immediately hangs up the line.
I slowly peel the phone away from my ear and end the call. She did nothing to deserve this. She is an innocent woman who I cursed by being her mate. Only if I had the heart to kill my brother long ago, none of this would be happening. Many would still be alive right now. Many of my innocent pack members, the innocent packs the attacked, Athena’s father and many comrades. They would all still be alive and well if only I did what was necessary
Rage spreads through out my body to the point I see red. I pace around the hotel room and start to release my anger on the objects around me. The lamp flys across the room and smashes against the wall. I flip the bed over and punch a fist into the wall. I roar in resentment and bury my face in my hands. I hate myself. It’s my fault this whole ordeal is happening in the first place. I should have just rejected her. If I done that in the beginning she would be safe. I collapse on the ground and think of all the thousand reasons why I hate myself.
As I lay resenting myself I hear the door of my room click open. I slowly lift my head and find my Beta looking around the room with wide eyes.
“What do you want Alaric?” I ask with annoyance.
“Did you call the Luna?” He asks and continues to scan the room.
“Yes, she said she may have an idea. Im waiting for her to call back.” I shrug my shoulders.
“It’s better than nothing.” He sits next to me.and sighs deeply.
“I shouldn’t have let her become involved with this search. You and I should have just looked for Aiden and Damon by ourselves.” I groan in my hand with shame. I shouldn’t have gotten her involved.
“You and I both know she wouldn’t take no for an answer. Damon killed her father and took her brother. You really think she would stay behind and do nothing?” He sighs as he scolds me.
“I know, but you and I know perfectly well I could have damn well prevented this.” I say through my clenched teeth. “If I just had the guts to kill Damon when I had the chance, none of this would be happening right now.”
“Well lets say you did kill your brother.” He sharply gets up and starts to clean up the mess I made. “You wouldn’t have had any reason to travel to the Mystic Evergreen pack. You may have never met Athena or proved our innocence of our parents past ways. We wouldn't have been given the chance at a fresh start if you killed him back then. We cant charge what happened. What we need to do now is find out where she was taken and take care of your bastard brother once and for all. Now get up and help me clean this up.”
Why is he always right? I do just as he says and pick up the shattered pieces of light bulb that lies on the ground.
Then suddenly a rippling pain spreads through out my chest. It causes me to fall to my knees and place a clenched fist on my chest. I groan and it spreads throughout my body.
“Silas, whats wrong?” He rushes towards me.
“Vladimir whats going on?” I yell into my head.
“Mate. Someone is hurting our mate. Someone is taking advantage of her.” He whimpers and growls the final statement.
Damon. How dare he! How dare he touch her. How dare he touch whats mine!
“Silas? Silas whats wrong? Talk to me.” Alaric rushes to my side and asks frantically.
“Damon. He’s hurting Athena. I can feel it through the bond.” I say through clenched teeth. Vladimir is seething and its taking everything in me to keep him contained. Damon will pay for this.
Just as im about to succumb to my rage. My cell begins to ring. I answer it with lightning speed and before I could say anything the Lunas hopeful voice floods my ear.
“How fast can you get back to the pack house? Freya might have a way to find her.”
I don’t listen to another word. I speed out of the room and out of the hotel. I call upon my black wings, grow out of my back and rip the t-shirt im wearing into two. I leap into the night sky and fly high into the cloudless canvas. I beat my wings with all my might and fly as fast as I can back to Ohio. I still feel Athena’s pain through the bond and its brutal. Whatever he is doing to her, he will pay for it. Ill kill him. No more hesitation. Damon is no brother of mine and never has been. He is a cold blooded monster who shares the same blood.He is nothing to me.
In about an hour land in front of the Evergreen pack house. I see the Luna and she rushes out of the house with a tear stained face. She crashes into me and cries into my chest.
“Please save her Silas. Make those fuckers pay.”
“Of course Iris. I promise you. You will get your daughter back.”
She doesn’t let me out of her grasp and someone comes out of the pack house. Freya comes to my side and places a supportive hand on the Luna.
“Luna, im sorry but I need him to find her. We will get her back, stay strong.” Freya says softly and now I can feel her embrace loosen. “Follow me, we need to do this without an audience.”
Freya goes back into the pack house and I lead Iris in with my arm around her shoulder to support her as she continues to weep.
We go up the stairs and she leads us to Athena’s room. Freya opens the door and motions me to go inside. I turn on the light and she closes the door behind us. I sit the Luna on the bed and wait for Freya to tell me her plan. She sits on the vanity chair across the room and looks at me with hesitation. Shes not confident about her solution.
“The only way i can personally come up with is a combination of spells. This particular combination has never been preformed before and it can potetially be dangerous. We have no idea how it could turn out." She says.
"What exactly are the spells?" I ask willing to try anything.
"A locator spell and a soul convergence. i will be able to call upon Athena's soul into a sacred space that no one can access except me. From there, i will preform a locator spell to get a reading on where her physical body is. I need you as a connection and beakon. As her mate, you're my best connection to her. Her objects can help me make the connection stronger and i need Iris here as my anchor to bring you back. Your soul will be joined with Athenas and there you can reassure her that we are coming for her." She explains.
"What are we waiting for?" I ask with impatience.
"There are risks. If something happens, your soul could end up in limbo or the locator spell might not work. Are you sure your willing to go into this?" She asks.
"If there is a chance at finding her. Of course i am."
"Lets get started then." She smiles and holds a hand out to me to take.
