We have been driving in silence for a few hours now and the mood has not been lifted. We are currently driving through west Virginia and we occasionally stop to make sure we are still on my brothers trail. So far he hasn’t diverged off his path going south which is proving useful.
After traveling all day, nightfall starts to fall upon us. The sun is on the verge of setting and we all need rest to continue our search.
“How about we pull into a hotel? We all should get some rest and continue our pursuit in the morning.” I suggest and no one expresses any objections to the idea. I pull up the nearest hotel and guide Silas there. It’s about ten minutes away and it’s small and local. Hopefully there are nicer rooms availble to fit us. Otherwise we might as well sleep in the SUV.
We pull into the parking lot and we grab our bags from the trunk. The building looks about 3 strories tall and is decorated with beautiful well kept gardens. Everyone remains silent as we walk to the check in counter. The tense atmosphere has not left us. A hard look remains on Silas’s face and that tenseness is spreading from him to everyone else.
We walk through the entrance and find a brunette sitting behind a desk. She is young and she is beautifully tanned and slim. She is reading something on her computer and helping another customer, We sit and wait our turn and finally they are given their key and they walk to their designated room.
We approach and the woman behind the desk looks at each of us. However she takes a nice long look at my mate. Her eyes are shining with something that is making Blanche furious. It takes every bit of strength in me not to possessively growl.
“How can I help you today, handsome?” She purrs. She might as well be Selene's double. My body trembles in need to lash out at this dirty little thing. Silas notices however and takes my hand. His touch soothes my anger and I take a deep cleansing breath. I open my eyes back up and the woman flicks her eyes at me and they are filled with envy. That's right bitch. He's taken.
“Would it be possible to get a three room suite?” My mate asks indifferently. With that request, she annoyingly looks to her computer. I smile in satisfaction that he doesn’t pay any mind to her lust filled eyes. Checks off loyalty on my dream mate list.
“Unfortunately they are filled tonight. What I can do for you is a two room. It also has a couch that is a pull out bed in the living room of the suite. Will that work?” She asks without taking her eyes off the computer.
“Yes, that will work perfectly. Thank you.” He says and she explains the pricing. She gives us the keys and we head up to find our room. As we are walking away she gives me one final dirty look.
Upon entering a door with a large 206, we find a elegant suite with a long gray couch in front of a stone framed gas fire place. Next to the living room there Is a marble kitchen and the rooms are on the opposites sides of the suite.
I carry my bag to one of the rooms and look around. There is a large queen sized bed and a large window that overlooks the small town. I place my bag down and my mate follows enters the room behind me.
“Celeste wants to stay with Alaric tonight so your stuck with me, Angel.” He grins and places his bag next to mine. I had a feeling that would happen. There is no way she would pass up a night with her mate. “That was cute you were jealous over that desk girl.”
“I wasn’t jealous.” I blush and go through my bag to look for something to sleep in.
“Don’t lie. It was written all over your face.” He chuckles and sits on the bed. “You don’t have any reason to be jealous. No other woman is attractive to me. Unless you reject me, you have no reason to worry about that.”
“That will never happen.” I say sharply. I never considered rejecting him. Even if my whole pack hates him I would never do that. Why would he think I would?
“Im not saying you would. Im saying that is on the table if your pack deems me unworthy.” He says.
“Even so, I don’t plan on rejecting you. I honestly don’t give a fuck what anyone else says.” In irritation I yank out my yoga pants. I never dreamed of rejecting him. It is every wolfs dream to find their mate. Sometimes that doesn’t always happen for some. If ranked wolves don’t find a mate In time for their succession, they have to take a chosen mate. Beta James couldn’t find his destined and took Esme as his chosen. We have seen how well that has been going.
“That’s comforting.” He chuckles and yanks his shirt off. “Well if you want, to we can pick up where we left off last night. It looks like my love bites are already gone. I say lets replace them.”
My cheeks redden and my head shoots towards him. He is wearing that same mischievous grin from last night. Then he starts to unbutton his jeans without breaking eye contact.
“You waiting for a show?” His grin becomes wider. I huff out a small breath and turn to the bathroom with my sleep wear and toiletries.
I roughly close the door of the bathroom and throw my things on the counter. I can’t say I don’t like him talking that way but I just don’t know how to react to those statements. He always catches me off guard. I yank off my cloths and put on my black yoga pants and sports bra. I brush out my messy hair and smooth it into a high messy bun. I finish off by brushing my teeth and swishing some mouthwash.
I gather my dirty cloths and slowly open the door. I peek in and he is already laying on the right side of the bed and going through his phone. He changed into some black sweat pants and remains shirtless. He hears the door slightly creak and looks towards me. He lays his phone on his chest and gives me his full attention.
“Im sorry, Angel. I was just messing with you.” He apologizes. I could face palm myself right now.
“It’s fine. I’m too sensitive.” I say and place my cloths on my duffle bag and go to lay beside him. “I just don’t know how to react when you say things like that.”
He doesn’t say a thing. He just chuckles and turns to stare at me.
“What?” I look back at him.
“Just admiring how innocent you are.” He brushes my cheek with his soft hand. Im such an amateur when it comes to this stuff. “Come here.”
I raise my brow an scoot closer to him and his arms wrap around me. He brings me closer till my head is pressed to his chest. His steady heart beat soothes my chaotic mind.
“Even though I want to kiss every inch of your body right now, we need to get some sleep. We have a long day tomorrow.” He says. I look up at his face and he has already closed his eyes. Compared to his tenseness earlier he looks peaceful. Whatever was on his mind must have finally settled.
I bring my face closer to his and I softly kiss is lips. He is more than I ever asked for.
His lips curl into a soft smile and his eyes flutter open. “Can I get another one?”
I giggle and I bring my lips to his again. Before I could connect them, he slightly lunges forward and covers my lips. My eyes widen in surprise and eventually I let go.
After a few moments he breaks away from my lips, and now they are swollen and im slightly panting.
“You do cruel things to me woman.” He groans and gets comfortable with me in his arms. I finally get my breathing under control snuggle into his arms.
“Well you’re the one who’s asked for another one.” I giggle and close my eyes.
“You’re the one who kissed me in the first place.” He says before we get quiet and sleep overtakes us. I find it quite nice to sleep in his arms.
