Chapter 44
I am hurled through space and thrown back into my body. I slightly open my eyes and meet with light that is too bright. I squint and try to see where I am. A few paces to my left I see Freya frantically writing something down and the Luna approaches me seeing that I’m awake.
I try to get up but everything starts to spin and my arms and legs feel like jelly. I grunt as a zapping sensation runs through my body. Damn it.
“Easy there, Don’t hurt yourself.” The Luna pushes me back down so I wont get up.
“Did it work?” I ask and rub my eyes. Why is it so fucking bright?
“Yes, and its also extremely convenient where they are located.” She looks at me with a sparkle in her eye.
“Where?” I raise my brow. She grabs the piece of paper she was writing on and gives it to me. I grab it and look at the words and coordinates written. My eyes widen.
“They are near Waupaca, Wisconsin.” Damon can’t be that stupid. They aren’t far from where my pack is located in Antigo.
“If I’m remembering correctly. Your pack is located in Wisconsin.” The Luna says.
“I need to leave right away.” I say and try to get up again but my body still hasn’t recovered. The shocking sensation is still there but not as bad.
“I agree, but you need to let your body recover. Its in shock from staying alive without your soul sustaining it.” Freya says and sits next to me with a vial in hand. “This can make the recovery faster but I’m not completely sure how long it will take exactly.”
I don’t hesitate. I pop open the bottle and in one swig I down the concoction that slightly burns down my throat. Within moments, I already feel a bit more alert and stronger. I get to my feet and my legs aren’t jelly. I whip my cell out and dial my Gamma. On the second ring she picks up.
“Everything going alright, Alpha?” She asks. “I got a call from Alaric and he said you flew off not giving a word where you were going.”
“Im sorry, Lotte, I’m going to need to explain later. I need you to get a group of warriors ready. Damon never left the state. He is hiding there and holding my mate hostage. We need to go get her.” I tell her and I hear her gasp on the other end.
“You found your mate? Why didn’t you tell me you pompous arrogant ass? You better explain yourself when we take care of this.” She takes a deep breath and calms herself. “Where will you want us stationed and ready for your next order?” She asks and starts yelling at commanders that happen to be by her to prepare.
“Meet Alaric and I In Oshkosh. We need to get the drop on them while we can. They don’t know we are onto them.”
“Understood.” She says simply and hangs up. I hang up my end and look at my call list and find Alaric called me ten times. Damn it, he’s probably panicking. I click his name and he answers immediately.
“You complete utter dick! You scared the ever living shit out of me. I know you’re my Alpha, but as your best friend, I say fuck you man!” He yells into the phone. My eyes widen at his outburst. He’s not wrong though. After my surprise passes, I lightly chuckle. He’s lucky he’s my best friend. A regular Alpha would have beaten his ass for this disrespect.
“Im sorry. I know disappearing was uncalled for, but Freya was able to find her.”
“Wait, you’re all the way back at Evergreen? So where the hell are they then?” He asks with barb still in his voice.
“You’re going to laugh. Damon and his minions haven’t left. They are relocated near Waupaca.” I chuckle at the thought he was never that far away.
“Is he stupid?” Surprised, he lets out a sigh.”That’s rather convenient. Did you call Lotte?”
“Yea she’ll meet us there with a team of warriors. Get to Oshkosh, tell the others to get back to Evergreen. This is our packs fault and something we alone should clean up.”
“Understood. Ill be there soon.” He says. “Don’t think for one second you’re off the hook yet. Ill beat your ass when I see you.” He hangs up his end. I smirk and hang up. I look at Freya who has a determined look in her eyes.
“Like hell you are doing this without us. Im going with to help.” She says not taking no as an answer.
“Everything that’s happening is my fault. We need to be the ones to end this.” I say simply. “I wont put anymore of you in danger.”
“You forget they have a witch in their ranks. You don’t stand a chance if I don’t have your backs.” She says in matter of fact. I cant argue with that. She will see us coming from miles away if we don’t have Freya to cover our asses until we launch an attack.
“Fine, but please don’t do anything to put yourself in great risk. I don’t want to have to explain to Athena why you were hurt or killed.” I firmly add.
“I will definitely try.” She cracks a slight smile. “Plus I wont die so easily since I have my own family to come back to.” Then the Luna returns with her cell in hand. I didn’t even notice her leave.
“I called James. He and his team will meet you there. You need all the help you can get.” She says firmly to tell me this is not up for debate. I sigh and reluctantly nod my head. I pray to Artemis that none of them get hurt.
“Ok we need a plan before we charge in. What would you recommend Freya?” I look back to her. She snaps her figures and a map appears in her hands. She lays it across the bed and ponders.
“For me to cloak you and your pack warriors I need you all together. We need to move as one unit.” She says. “However when we arrive I need you to hold off until I can neutralize their witch. If I can get to her undetected it will make things a whole hell of a lot easier.”
“Our best bet would be to catch them by surprise from the North. That’s the most dense part of the forest where they are.” I point out on the map.
“So we will over power them. What if Athena is guarded? They will most likely use her and Aiden as leverage. They may hold daggers to their throats for all we know.” She has a point. It would put at an easy disadvantage.
“Well, if you can stay undetected and cloaked. That would solve that problem. Just sneak up and snap their necks if that’s the case.” I shrug my shoulders.
“Sounds like a plan.” She smiles and the map disappears.
“Well? What are we waiting for? Lets go get her.” I say and Freya leaves to get things she needs.
I continue to pray Athena is alright. She looked completely and utterly broken. Seeing the desperation in her eyes makes me want to hide her away from the world. Just lock in her a room to keep her from any more harm. To keep her away from even her own pack. Where no one else will lay a hand on her again.
