Chapter 12
It’s been 24 hours since the scout team left and there is a fearful aura around the pack house. Everyone is afraid their loved one’s won’t come back. Aiden went out on a run and as usual didn’t say anything to anyone. Mom and I plan to go talk to Freya later today when she is in at the pack hospital. I try to keep my wondering mind off of everything by helping Mom prepare for reinforcements that will be making an appearance in a day or two. We prepared rooms and counted our supplies to make sure we have plenty.
*Unknown POV*
I’ve been traveling for 2 days now and I’m about to approach the Mystic Evergreen Territory. Those Rogues I recently banished from my pack have been wreaking havoc around the Mideast. My resources recently told me that the most recent pack they’ve attacked is the Mystic Evergreen pack and they killed their Alpha. Which is very surprising. This pack is supposed to be the baddest and strongest pack around and 30 rogues managed to kill their Alpha. They were banished for mutiny and treason. Even though I’m the rightful Alpha of the Lunar pack, one wolf and his followers didn’t like that fact. They set fires to homes, took hostages, and even attempted to kill me.
My Beta and I have been traveling and tracking the rogues down to end their Havoc. They have been causing so much trouble for me and it must end. We have been trying to rebuild the pack and this issue will ruin that. Our parents, who made up the pack before us were greedy and took what they wanted. They were cruel and ruthless and deserved what they got. We don’t want to be anything like them. We want peace between us, and they head packs of the US.
We are driving up the mountain and we stop right outside the territory. We put the SUV in park, and we hop out and enter the territory.
“Maybe this isn’t such a good idea Alpha. They will most likely see us as a threat.” Alaric, my Beta says to me hesitantly.
“That will most likely be the case, but we need to try to make friends with them if we are going to have a chance to rebuild. Plus, we need to explain that the wolves that attacked were not us.” We continue to walk through the forest in search for the pack.
“Hey, stop right there Rogues!” A voice yells and we hear the footsteps of warriors approaching.
“We mean no harm. We have come to speak with your leaders.” I say and hold my hands up in surrender. We find about 10 warriors surrounding us and they are in defensive stances.
“Keep your hands up and go down on your knees. Our Luna and Gamma will decide what to do with you two.” Alaric and I do as the warrior says and they bind my hands behind my back. The motion us to get up and we head deeper into the Forest. It’s takes about 20 minutes to reach the pack village and the wolves either look at us with fear or disgust. The pack house comes in sight, and we head in that direction. We approach a pack house and once the doors are opened a strong scent invades my nose. The scent of fresh fallen snow and mint. It’s so intoxicating and I take deep breaths. It reminds me of the first snow fall of December and candy canes. I continue to take breathe in the scent as if i can’t get enough of it. Then my wolf Vladimir becomes excitable and says. “Our mate is near.”
*Athena’s POV*
The pack is on high alert because wolves made their way into the territory. Only two though. The warriors managed to capture them, and they are being brought here. What if they are Lunar rogues?
My Mom and Gamma Chione are speaking frantically with Darius and the other Alphas until we hear the front doors of the pack house open from the meeting room. The most intoxicating and amazing smell hits my nose. Pine and eucalyptus, my two favorite scents in the world. It’s almost as if it’s flooding the room. Blanche is becoming frantic, and I can feel her excitement.
“Athena, our mate is here.” She pants in my head. No way. He’s here? He is really here. “He isn’t a part of the pack though. I can feel his strength and his powerful aura. He must be an Alpha.”
“Blanche, we need to keep leveled heads. He must be one of the wolves they are bringing in.” I tell her and she calms down slightly. The patrol warriors bring in two large male wolves. They are both stunning. However, one catches my eye and I notice this amazing scent Is coming from him. He locks eyes with me, and I can see his wolf trying to reach out to me. He is beautiful. He is tall about 6’2”. He has amazing muscle tone and very dark chestnut hair that is nicely trimmed. His skin is slightly tanned and smooth. His face is freshly shaved, and his jaw is sharp and nicely defined. His eyes are a unnatural but beautiful dark violet color. However, what is most striking about him is the violet crescent moon shape tattoo on his forehead and detailed swirls and markings around it. I’ve never seen any wolf like him. The other wolf with him looks a lot like him but he has dirty blond hair and icy blue eyes. His build is very similar to my mate, but he is slightly shorter. I see him scan the room and his eyes land on Celeste. I can see her go tense and I even see sweat break out on her forehead. He must be her mate.
I turn back towards my mate, and I see he hasn’t taken his eyes off of me. It almost looks like he is awe struck.
“Identify yourselves.” My Mother sternly says and causes us to break eye contact. He clears his throat and looks at her.
“I’m Silas Black and this my Beta Alaric Lightwood. I am the Alpha of the re-established Lunar pack, and I came here looking for the rogues that were recently banished from my pack. They have been wreaking havoc around the states and we want to end that.” He says. His voice is beautiful and deep like honey. It makes me shiver in anticipation.
“How did you and your current pack survive the occurrence 20 years ago? We thought Lunar wolves were extinct.” Mom questioned.
“When the original Lunar pack found out you were coming after them, they hid all the children in a neighboring allied pack. They didn’t want our kind to go extinct and we were hidden until we could restart the pack. There were about 200 of us that were taken in and hidden.” He answers. “We want to be different from our parents. They were greedy wolves. We only want to rebuild and re-establish our pack and become allies to the head packs.”
“How do we know that you are not allied with these rogues. For all we know this could be a dirty trick.” Chione comments and eyes them.
“We come with good intentions and mean you know harm. I also want to offer my condolences for the lives you lost during your battle with them. We promise we want to be allies and help bring them to justice.” He says. I can see it in his eyes. He isn’t lying. He is being sincere and wants to stop them. The Alphas are frantically whispering. Not knowing what to do with the Lunar wolves who are supposed to be dangerous enemies.
“Mother, maybe we should consider this.” I whisper to her. “I can tell. He is telling the truth, and we have to give him a chance. We may not trust them because of what happen in the past, but we can’t hold them responsible for their predecessors’ mistakes or what the rogues did.” She looks me in the eyes, and she ponders for a moment.
“My daughter is right. However, you two will be contained as a precaution. You need to earn our trust and you will be free to go when I see fit. You will be monitored 24/7. I pray you are telling the truth. Scouts were sent yesterday morning to search for these rogues and you will be notified what is to be done.” She proclaims and Silas nods his head in understanding. “Take them to the guest quarters and make sure there are guards outside their doors. Only the Gamma, me, and my children with have access to them. Dismissed!” Silas turns his attention towards me, and he doesn’t break eye contact with me until he leaves the room.
