Chapter 35 *** Running Away ***
[ CHAPTER THEME SONG:
I don't want to be you anymore By Billie Eillish]
[ VERONICA'S POV ]
I ran into the rains without looking back at the party that I left behind. Perhaps no one noticed me not even Blake who was busy with his old friends.
Their words broke me like a glass. I knew that I was going to invite another new rumours but being called the mistress of my own brother-in-law hit me the most. I wanted to die at that spot when they told me that I had cheated on my sister.
Perhaps they were right! It was my fault! I had to restrain this feelings from him. I should have gone away from him before things had taken further between us.
I cried under the rain and started walking towards a random direction without my knowledge. The rain was heavy, washed off all my make-up and showered my body like a dog drenched in rain.
I had to find a way to run away from him. If I stayed more with him, I would fall in love with him more and more. After all, no one can control your heart not even you.
With all this thoughts muddling inside my head, I walked towards the dark streets without looking back at the house that I left behind me.
[ BLAKE'S POV ]
" My turn! ", Herman yelled at me when I fetched another round of cards as mine. I was having great time here. Since Veronica was with me and we had a perfect time together. I liked the harmonious relationship between us. I cracked dirty jokes with her as she blushed and gave me cold glares occasionally.
God! I loved to tease her! She was a bundle of joy for me. Even with Victoria, I never felt such comfort that I sensed around Veronica.
Herman and his friends began to teach me as I won two rounds and they all bombarded around accusing me that I had tricked them. Honestly, I didn't use any trick. I was just lucky today and perhaps my shining star was here beside me that's why. At this thought, I looked up to find Veronica with a smile.
Staring hard at the place in where she was standing before, I saw no one. I swiped my gaze across the entire mansion but saw her now where. My veins popped out on my forehead in anxiety as I stood up leaving my nearly won game.
Nothing was important to me than her!
I walked at the center of party and carefully searched every corner of the hallway but there was no sign of her. Thinking that she had gone to washroom, I made my way into the ladies Washroom and there, I bumped Aliyah, Herman's fiancee.
Aliyah gave me a relieved smile and spoke in a concerned voice,
" Mr.Blake, I was going to inform you just now. Do you know that where Veronica has gone? I saw her running into the rain from upstairs. She seemed to run away from the party but didn't take her care. Is she all right?"
My expression sank before I hastily thanked Aliyah and made my way outside in haste. She wasn't a woman who could actually go missing without any reason. Something might have happened with her since she didn't even bother to inform me once.
My heart raced in anxiety as I parked my car out of the mansion and drove outside. Clutching the steering wheel, I murmured looking through the glass of car deeply,
" Where are you, Veronica? Please don't leave me."
A desperate cry broke out from my throat as I started to drive slowly in the street. I was intentionally driving slow so that I could watch around and search for her. Since she hadn't gone out for long, I believed that she didn't go far away.
With this hope, I started driving my car slowly. Raindrops crashed against my car windows heavily making it almost impossible to see what was laying behind it.
After wandering around the street for a while, I found no one. My heart almost stopped breathing at the thought that Veronica could be in danger same like Victoria. I didn't give up and insisted on looking for her further.
Half an hour later, I paused my engine abruptly when I noticed a sitting figure amidst the rainfall. Though it wasn't clear enough, I could detect that it was girl sitting under the redrock tree.
I unfastened my seatbelt hastily and hopped down from my car ignoring the heavy rain that were pouring down on my head.
I breathed in a sigh of relief when I saw the woman was none other than Veronica. She was soaked hard and appeared pale, broken in surface. Scooting closer, I heard her low cries. My heart collapsed at that moment and I couldn't wait to hold her closer.
What happened to her?
I rushed forward to hold her before calling out her name anxiously,
" VERONICA! You...why did you come here? Why didn't you tell me anything?"
She was startled before looking up at me with an astounded expression. Before my hands could grab her, she yelled out unexpectedly,
" Get away from me."
I paused before retracting my arms awkwardly. Gulping down a little, I asked without approaching her,
" Veronica! What happened? Are you angry with me because I left you alone in the part?"
She pouted her soaked lips and replied with a whin,
" No..I..I just don't want to stay with you anymore.."
My blood froze before anger started to boil up inside my mind. I blurted out impatiently,
" Then who are you going to stay with?"
I saw her swallowing before giving me name that shocked and angered me to death at the same time,
" Asher! I will live with Asher as long as we aren't done here."
Jealousy burnt through my body as I wished desperately to kill Asher.
Is that why she avoided my touch last night?
I pinched between the space of my brows and growled at her in a threatening voice,
" Get inside the car with me now or you will catch cold. Come! "
I offered extending my arm to drag her inside but refused taking several steps away from me. Her eyes were oddly cold as she spoke to me in a distant voice,
" Didn't you hear what I said? I am not going back with you. We will live separately this days."
As if I would agree?
She is mine and I am going to keep her by my side at any cost.
