Chapter 48 *** Reunion ***

Asher managed to ground all the members from Luther's side. He had arranged additional groups who helped him out to maintain the chaos happening around the house. His team was fully prepared as they came down from helicopters to cover their back as soon as Asher reported the situation to them. Since they had the entire map of this secret mansion, it was very easy for them to ground this gang members.

Regaining some of his cool sanity, Asher's eyes wandered around to find Veronica and Blake in the corners. Near the stairs, he vaguely spotted what was going on. His expression turned horrified when he noticed that Veronica was in Luther's hand.

Asher rushed forward without wasting anymore time and wanted to approach Luther but Luther's barking tone came out first threateningly,
" Don't come near me or I will blow her head out."

His words caused Asher to halt in his track. He shouted at Luther anxiously,
" What do you want? She has nothing to do with this mission. Let her go and deal with us."

Luther laughed amusingly at his own repulsive action. He didn't expect that Veronica's life would matter to them a lot. He could see the fear in both Asher and Blake's eyes.

Luther mocked at them without removing his hand from Veronica's pointed head,
" At first, I really aimed at her impulsively to save myself but now, I know that she is the key of your weaknesses, there is no way that I would let go of her..No..No..No closer..."

Luther warned again when Blake attempted to approach them from the other side. His blue eyes helplessly watched Veronica who was pointed under Luther's gun. His face paled as pain surged from the deep core of his heart. One shot from Luther would cause Veronica to loose her life.

Veronica watched their helplessness as she started to rumble from Luther's captive,
" Don't hold back yourselves because of me, Blake, Asher. Kill this man. Even if I die in his hand, I wouldn't have any regret for that. At least, he would be dead regardless of what happens to me."

Blake sutured as his voice drained out in fear,
" No, Veronica...I can't accept this.. Luther... state your request..don't hurt her.. Please.."

Asher pleaded at the same time as he parted open his lips fearfully to beg Luther,
" Luther.. don't harm Veronica..I can promise anything just don't hurt her..She is innocent and doesn't involved in this mission. I used her against you. Deal with me however you want but let go of her."

Luther found it amusing to hear begging from his rivals to beg over the same woman. To satisfy his ego, Luther ordered them coldly,
" You guys don't want me to hurt her right? Fine! Kneel down and beg to me."

Blake and Asher exchanged a blank glance. No matter to them, Veronica was the most important person in their life right at this moment. Without thinking twice, both of the men started to get on their knees slowly in front of Luther.

Veronica shouted pleading at them,
" NOO!! Don't do this! Blake! Asher! He isn't worthy of your begging..No..Aaaahhhh.."

Veronica screamed out in fear when a gunshot was fired from nowhere as she jumped on the other side instinctively. Luther's grip loosened from her collarbone as she looked down at Luther's falling body astonishingly. His leg was shot, warm blood flowed down as he got on his knees instead of Blake and Asher.

Following the resource of gunshot, Veronica glanced up at the way blankly and her breathing stopped for a while as she uttered breathlessly,
" Sister Victoria! "

A pale skinnend Victoria was standing a few steps away from them. She was holding a gun in her grip as she watched Veronica lifelessly. Tears of happiness started to shed down from Veronica's eyes who assumed her death already.

Blake's expression was much more complicated as if he had lost of his consciousness. His lips parted and closed in disbelief when he saw the woman in front of his eyes after months. The feeling was too surreal for him that he even forgot to haul up from the ground.

Veronica choked on her tears, sending reminder at Blake who didn't even get up to approach Victoria,
" Blake..she.. she is really.. Victoria..."

Coming back to reality after Veronica's words, Blake jumped up from the ground and almost ran to the lifeless body of Victoria. She had changed a lot on her surface. Her skin looked extremely pale as if she hadn't taken care of it for years.

Blake couldn't restrain his emotions anymore after finding Victoria. He choked on his words and started to question Victoria like a madman,
" Victoria!! Victoria!! Where are you? What happened to you? How did you end up here? Victoria!! Talk to me! Victoria, look at me. It is me, Blake."

Despite his constant questions, Victoria didn't respond and blankly watched them one by one.Blake was a little frustrated, assumed that she was traumatized by everything.

Pulling her into a tight hug, Blake started to plead emotionally,
" Talk to me.. please.. Victoria..Talk me..I am Blake..No one can hurt you anymore.. please.."

Veronica watched the reunion of Victoria and Blake silently. Her heart ached so much that taking a breath felt too burdensome for her. Her eyes teared up subconsciously when she understood that from tomorrow, she was going to be no one in Blake's life.

That's right! His embrace, love all belonged to Victoria only. She was just a replacement for few days and couldn't be Victoria ever.

Victoria was his lawfully wedded wife and his first love. How could he love someone like Veronica when he had the finest woman of world at his side.

Though Veronica was thinking everything inside her mind, Asher did notice her crying. For some unknown reason, Asher felt that Veronica's cries had different meaning as if she had just lost someone she loved. He exchanged glance between Veronica and Blake's back few times.

Approaching her slowly, he couldn't help but asking Veronica softly,
" What happened to you, Veronica? Aren't you happy to see their reunion?"

When Veronica didn't respond anything, Asher went silent.

Was she in love with Blake? Her brother-in-law?
