chapter 10-deja vu

“my lord” the panic evidenced on Kharon’s face could not be explained.
Why was he scared?
Why did he look panicked?
“Valerie” Hades called in this cold commanding voice. I looked to him, not still quiet forgiving about how he treated me earlier. It might have been the way he locked me up for days, at least that was what it felt like but seeing him pissed me off to no ends, besides, he could not take my soul and I was already in hell, so I had nothing left to loose.
“what!” I snapped.
“careful” he said, taking a closer step towards me. I took a step back “slut, don’t think you can talk to me anyhow just yet”
I opened my mouth to say something but shut it immediately.
“and why are you unclothed?” he turned his attention to Kharon looking like he wanted to end his life, quite literally.
“m..my lord… she… I was….”
“he was injured, apparently you don’t take care for the people you govern” I said looking at him with annoyance.
“you will not tell me how to take care of my subjects!” he sneered, looking at me with something in his look. “you!!!” he said, facing Kharon “I see you have a lot of time on your hands”
He bowed, begging for mercy.
I still did not understand why he was so pissed. Hades nose flared, he turned to me, looking at me, sizing me up. “you, get dressed, I need company, and you better act right, or I will end you, precious soul or not” he said with so much fire in his eyes that I actually had to shift back a bit.
I did not understand what had just happened, all I knew was that a very angry looking Hades was here and now, there was a very shaken looking Kharon.
**
“please” Kharon along with other lesser demon said as they practically begged I to wear the dress.
“he can do whatever he wants with me, but I am not going” I said, crossing my arms and looking away from their pity face.
“it’s not about you, he is already pissed and would probably double my punishment for the next ten years” he said looking at me with fear.
“TEN YEARS??!!!” that was a bit extreme.
“time does not exist here besides, I should have been more careful, sire is very possessive about his possessions” the way he called me a possession rubbed off on me in the wrong way but that was the truth, no matter the false façade i put on, i would always be a possession, whether to my father, to the Earl or even to death himself.
“fine” I sighed taking the dress from them.
“you look gorgeous” the lesser demon said as i wore the dress. It was a blue satin dress with ends flayed, with the upper part hugging me in all the right places. My hair was packed in a high ponytail but some was left at front to cover part of my face. “I love this” I said
I made my way towards the base of the stairs where Hades stood, looking dashing, not that it was anything new. He always looked his best. as I came down the stairs, he had this look in his eyes that made my heart flutter. i blinked. For some reason, I had this feeling of deja vu
“you…” he said, looking at her for the longest time before he looked away. “you took your damned time to look so simple” he said, crushing the feeling in an instant.
“considering you sent the outfit my way, I would say you have a bad taste then” I said, walking past him further down the hall, away from his presence.
“stupid” I murmured, feeling beyond pissed
*
My heart pounded as i stood at the entrance to the grand hall. I could feel it threatening to fly out of my chest
In front of the hall, there was a writing. The elegant script had simply read: *"You are invited to the Gathering of the Divines."* i had thought it a mistake, a joke even, I snorted as I made my way into the hall with Hades by my side

As I stepped inside, the air shimmered with a strange, almost palpable energy.

I hesitated at the door, feeling acutely out of place. I had worn her finest dress, a deep blue gown that matched my eyes, but it suddenly felt inadequate amidst the splendour surrounding my. I let my gaze wandered across the room, taking in the attendees. They were not just people; they were gods. People like Hades, they could easily take my life at the snap of their finger
My breath quickened as I took in more of the view, hades mumbled something, leaving me in my dilemma.
A gentle hand touched my shoulder, pulling me from the spiraling thoughts, I turned to see a woman with flowing silver hair and eyes that mirrored the moonlight.

"Welcome, Valerie," the woman said, her voice like a soothing melody. " It’s good to see you again"
I looked at her, shocked at her statement. “again?” I looked at her, waiting for her to clarify what she meant by again.
“Mene, brother said not to do that!!” the name rang a bell, causing me to snap my head towards the person that said it.
Why did it all feel familiar?
