Chapter 68

Cerberus p.o.v
Slowly, very slowly, i was getting to my wits end. Every place I looked to, she was there, or at least traces of her was visible.
At breakfast, she would cut up the meat or butter up my bread, just how I loved it, she was always at the corner waiting for me to acknowledge her.
I snorted “what a joke” I muttered as I got up from the bed, ready to take on the days activities. “she would up and leave when she sees something better.” I sighed.
Although Scylla said otherwise.
She explained that she was my fated “think it through before you make any rash decision” she had said, looking at me with a pleading look. “You don’t always find this kind of love that easy” those were the last words before she left me alone.
I made my way to the breakfast room, I already knew what to expect.
She cutting up everything for me and then making her presence scarce in an attempt to get on my good sides and then for the rest of the day did these little things that mattered, but on reaching the breakfast room there was nothing.
The breakfast laid in front of me sure, but I did not see her touch on it.
“I really see my daughter decided to go for a low life” I heard a voice that made my blood freeze.
“What are you doing here!” I snapped, growling at the unwelcome visitor.
“Watch your tone with me boy!” she snapped, coming into view.
I growled, watching her every move as she approached me. “What are you doing here? Don’t let me ask again” I was heaving trying to keep my emotions at bay.
“It’s certainly been a while since I saw you” she said, tracing my face with one of her pointy fingers.
Just as she stepped back with a smirk on her face, the door burst open, revealing a distressed looking Mene that was bound hands and feet and shoved violently to the floor.
“Ah” she smiled, taking a seat comfortably watching the whole drama. “there you are you stupid child.” She sneered.
“Aphrodite, what is the meaning of this?” I felt a buzz run through my body.
“I should be asking her, that same question don’t you think? Leaving home despite my warnings, and worse of all. Leaving home stay with a mutt” she spat, looking at me with disdain.
“You said you would leave me alone if I did as you told me to. You have every right to be here.” I looked at both of them conversing, feeling completely lost in left out in all of this.
“Well that does not matter anymore. You are needed back home” aphrodite said, standing up from the seat and dusting the non existent dust off of her.
“No” Mene said, which seemed to shock Aphrodite.
“excuse me?” She looked ready to loose her cool.
“Cerb already thought I abandoned him once because of you! I am definitely not leaving him again, not now when he is finally warming up to me.” Her voice sounded shaky and sincere, but I was not buying it.
‘It could have been planned to make me think I could trust her.
She definitely did not see me that-
I was cut off from my train of thought as she, Aphrodite, burst into laughter.
It was not one of amusement, no. It was one of mockery.
“You really think this mutt would love you? Oh honey, save yourself the embarrassment and just come do what you are good for. “ she sneered.
Mene looked terrified, as though she was ready to cry.
Pitiful.
“I am not going” she said. Her voice coming out a little smaller this time. Something about her upset state did not feel right to me.
“really? You really think he wants you? You are nothing but an unattractive, foolish loud...”
“That is enough!” I boomed, causing the ground to almost cave. “You will NOT speak to her that way”
They both looked shocked at me. Shocked at the power I gave out.
Of course to everyone. I was just Hades’ dog. Nothing more. No one except Hades had seen my true power.
“I believe.. “
“No..., i am done with you. You lost the right to speak the moment you dared to talk about her that way.”
She blinked, looking at me like she had just seen a ghost.
“Leave while I am still being nice, it would not be all flowery the next time I see you anywhere here.”
“Who do you think you are to talk to me that way!” she gasped,
“I am the new ruler of the Underworld and that!” I pointed to Mene who was shell shocked to even utter a word. “whether you like it or not is my beloved.” I said repeating the words that scylla had said to me.
Aphrodite looked at me, contemplating what to do. She knew she could not fight me in the Underworld. The only gods’ power that worked here was Hades. The rest were practically useless.
“I see.
I would be watching out then,” she turned to Mene who looked like she was ready to bolt “hold him tightly, I will be waiting when he decides to cast you out” she said with a sinister smile on her face.
She left. Leaving there to be silence between us.
I stood for a moment, frozen. Should I go to her? She seemed a bit shaken up.
She avoided my gaze trying her best to remove the binds on her hands.
I sighed.
“thank you” she muttered as I came around to loose the binds.
“Are you okay?” I asked. I noticed she was in fact hiding her whole face from me. ‘something does not feel right.” I thought.
“Hey, what’s wrong?”
“She is right” she said with a low voice. “It’s only a matter of time before you throw me to the side.” She said, biting her lips as she tried to force back the tears.

“Huh?” I said looking at her like she had gone crazy.
