Chapter 58

The further we walked round the more I saw that this was not just some hide out. This was a home. Like the one i went to the time of the dinner.

As we rounded a corner, the hallway opened up into a grand foyer. My breath caught as I took in the sight before me: a massive double staircase sweeping upwards, its polished banisters glistening in the soft light. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting shimmering reflections across the marble floors. It was the kind of place that felt like it belonged in a different world.
Lost in the beauty of the place, I lost my footing, tripping on the stairs that I had not seen.
I closed my eyes, ready for the impact when he caught me, giving me an unimpressed look.
Hades led me up the staircase, his grip on me firm but gentle. I couldn’t help but notice how close he was, his presence wrapping around me like a protective shield.

He was close
Too close.
I could feel the heat of his body. But I bit my lips
‘Sheep, i would think of that’

Finally, Hades stopped in front of one of the doors near the end of the hallway. He hesitated for a moment before pushing it open, revealing a grand room beyond. The sight of it made me pause in the doorway, my breath catching in my throat.

The room was massive, with high ceilings and tall windows that overlooked a sprawling garden outside. The walls were lined with rich, dark wood paneling, and a large, ornate bed sat in the center of the room, draped in luxurious fabrics.

He walked in. Leaving me at the door. “Step in and shut the door.” He said, not even bothering to look my way. He rolled his sleeves.
He took a my way “BACK THE FUCK UP!!!” I yelled, gripping my chest. “l..lol, you can’t do this okay? You can’t!” he was not listening to me took several steps towards me again. “ i Don’t swing this way! I. Am. Not. Into. Older. Men!!” still nothing.
My ears were ringing as he approached me.
Hehe was my step dad, he. Really could not be doing. This, could he?’ I closed my. Eyes, waiting for him to do what Ever he wanted, when a breeze blew past me.
‘huh?’ I blinked, opening my eyes to see that he opened the drawer beside me.
‘how did I not notice before?’ I felt an embarrassing blush coat my cheeks as I stood there. ‘fuck! Can the grill underneath open up and swallow me now?’ I thought as I looked at his back even though he barely gave me any attention as he brought out something from the drawer....
No, it was more like a shelf .
He threw a file in front of me, taking two glasses from the other side of the room and a bottle of whisky.
“I did not mean to hurt you. My men tend to be idiots sometimes. I was just meant to get you out of the bar before another person laid hands on you inappropriately again.” He said, taking a large gulp of his drink.
I widened my eyes. There was no way that did not burn, but his face remained blank.
“you are crazy” I laughed a bit, chugging down the whisky. It burned.
But after a long evening, it might have been exactly what I needed. I took four more shots while he looked at me in shock.
“you should step it down a bit” it irked me how he was calm, when I felt his burning gaze for things to me.

“Protect me?” I laughed, ignoring his advise, a bitter sound that echoed in the room. “Is that what you call it? Because it felt a hell of a lot like kidnapping to me.”

His jaw tightened, but he didn’t interrupt. I took another sip, the whisky fueling the fire inside me. “I’m not some weak little girl you can control, Hades. I’ve survived more than you can imagine, and I don’t need your protection. Stick to my mum and don’t try to play daddy, I am too old for that” I said taking the bottle this time

“this is fake, it does not work shit!” I said taking more, larger gulps this time around.

“Do you think I wanted this?” His voice was low, almost a whisper, but it cut through the fog in my mind like a blade. “Do you think I want to go around playing baby sitter?” he arched a perfect brow. “I am a busy man and you are starting to be aa burden, so get your shit together and you vetter not let your mum find out about this” he said gesturing to the file he threw my way earlier, one i was yet to touch.

I felt the fire in me flicker, my anger wavering in the face of his raw honesty.

I sighed, rubbing my temples as the room seemed to spin around me.
It was hot.
Unbarely so.
I popped a few buttons on my shirt, then a few more and then there was nothing left.
“It’s hot” I pulled the shirt, leaving me in my bra and skort. His eyes widened a bit before he lowered them. I found myself pulling the skort “the temperature seemed to be dropping yes?” i could barely get myself to think straight.

“Come on,” he said gently, standing and offering me his hand. “You’ve had enough for tonight. Let’s get you to bed.”

I swatted his hands away “are you calling me drunk? I’ll have you know I have high tolerance and nothing gets me drunk.” I said standing to my feet only to have the world around me spin.
I glanced up at him, my vision blurry but clear enough to see the concern etched on his face. “Just… don’t forget that I’m stronger than you think,” I mumbled, feeling myself turn to shit.
