chapter 28

Valerie’s p.o.v
I walked into the room, a little too shocked to see him sitting there, deep in thought.
“you are back” I walked further into the room, adjusting the robe around me to look a little more decent, not that it helped anyways.
He snapped out of his thoughts looking at me, I did not miss the way his eyes darkened as he looked at me.
‘did he hate me that much?’ I thought as I backed up. ‘well good, I hate him too’ I told myself as I adjusted the bath robe.
“don’t you know how to use a fucking towel? Or you have never used one before!?” he said, looking away from me, after staring at my neck for an alarming period of time
“i.. I was thinking, what if you send me back. I am quite useless to you right now, if I were to die of natural causes then it would be easier to take what you need from me” I said referring to my soul.
It was better that way, that way, we both did not even have to get irritated each and every time we saw each other.
"you seem to have gotten quite comfortable that you have forgtten who would determine what here.."
"i was just thinking that..."
"you have no right!!!!" he seemed to be more angry than he was meant to be, it was alarming.
i watched him storm out of the room, wondering 'why the fuck is he mad now?'

After that moment, he was not near me. Like he had somewhat disappeared.
“I hear you made sire do some strange things around here.”
Natalie said as she helped me dress.
“huh?”
She shrugged, not saying much as she moved around. “wait, what do you…” I shut up immediately as I watched Hades come in the room. I barely had any clothes on as he came into the room, sizing me head to toe

“Valerie,” he said, his voice low. “Come ”
He said, immediately leaving the room, not even waiting to see if I was following or not
i followed him without question, it was not like I could say otherwise when his words gave no room for contradictions. I threw on the nearest thing I could find and moved. We walked in silence, the only sound the soft echo of our footsteps against the stone floor. He led me deeper into the palace, through winding corridors and hidden passageways that I had never explored. The air grew cooler, the shadows thicker, until finally, we reached a set of heavy double doors.

Hades paused, his hand resting on the iron handle. He looked at me, his gaze searching, as if trying to gauge my reaction before I even saw what lay beyond, he pushed open the doors, revealing a sight that took my breath away.

Beyond the threshold was a garden.
The walls and ceiling were formed from smooth, dark stone, but the space was filled with a soft, ethereal light that seemed to emanate from the very air itself. The ground was covered in rich, dark soil, and from it grew plants of every imaginable kind. But these were not ordinary plants. Their leaves shimmered with an otherworldly glow, and their flowers bloomed in shades of deep purples, midnight blues, and silvery whites, colors that seemed to belong to the twilight rather than the day.

I stepped inside, feeling the cool, soft earth beneath my feet. The air was fragrant, filled with the delicate scents of night-blooming flowers and herbs. A small stream wound its way through the garden, the water dark and still, reflecting the faint light like a mirror. It was as if Hades had taken the essence of the night and woven it into something tangible, something breathtakingly beautiful.

I turned to him, my heart pounding in my chest. “you don’t have a fucking reason to want to leave here now. ”

I walked deeper into the garden, my fingers grazing the delicate petals of a flower that glowed softly under my touch. I looked back at him to see that he quickly looked away
“you act all cold and then go ahead to do such a big thing like this” I smiled, feeling something warm in my chest
Hades stepped closer, his gaze never leaving mine. “This realm is mine to shape,” he said simply. “believe me, I would not go out of my way for you.”

His words sent a shiver down my spine, not from fear, but from the depth of emotion behind them. He his words said one thing but the tone in which he said it betrayed those words

“Do you like it?” Hades asked, his voice almost hesitant.

I looked at him, really looked at him, and saw the effort, the care he had put into this place.

“I do,” I said softly. “It’s beautiful, Hades. Thank you.”
“good, and you better not take this as an everyday gesture” he said, walking out the door.
“Hades” I called, looking at his retreating figure.
“what! If you want to complain….”
I don’t know why, but I rushed towards him and hugged him from behind. I did not mind that his body was frozen, most likely not expecting that I would hug him. “thank you”
