Kill Her!
**Aileen POV**
Closing my eyes, images of the last time I sat on a bed while someone I loved was in peril flashed under my eyelids. My heart was pounding in my ear as I sprinted for the door. I had just sat back and assumed everything was okay last time. Now Kalum was buried six feet under in the wrong dimension. There was no way I would be letting the same situation play out with my true love. I meant it when I said no one else in my family will be dying!
Right outside the entryway were large spikes of ice all pointed around Devon. There were split pieces of stone torn from the ground surrounding him, blocking the ice. The source of the ice spears was a human looking demon ready for bloody murder. The only demonic feature he had was a small horn on both elbows. His eyes were bright red, blood lust for Devon.
Hell no! I started to race forward, when two sets of hands pulled my arms backwards. Devon had blood dripping down his torso from the ice piercing his skin thanks to his hasty retreat. Father grunted out in pain. He had thrown himself in front of me and the blood hungry demon had smacked him. I heard the crunch of Father's bones before his flying body broke down the door. Wood splitters poked out from odd angles where the pieces had punctured him.
I spun on my heel to go check on my Father, only to be pulled behind Devon. "Let me go! He's bleeding out!"
Devon's hold on my arm tightened, no doubt there would be bruising when he released me. I struggled to get out of his iron grip to no avail. The demon ahead of us started cackling. In the blink of an eye, the demon had caught Devon by the throat lifting him off his feet.
"Shouldn't have been protecting the bitch." He squeezed tightly. Devon's face was already turning color.
He huffed out barely audibly, "you won't touch her."
"Oh, I will. I have no interest in Shiuku's ex lap dog though. Stay out of the way and I'll let you go treat the human man over there." The demon tried to wager with Devon.
He was after me?
"Traitor." Devon coughed out. Dark red lines slipped from blue lips.
"Like you're really one to talk cowardly lapdog."
Fire burned inside me at hearing some evil asshole degrade my true love. I grabbed a stick from the wood broken off of my new room. With blurred precision, I cut across the demon's face. A nasty scar would form over his left eye. Crimson drops squirted from the wound, splashing across my cheeks. The demon dropped Devon, covering his injured eye with his large sweaty palm.
Devon wasted no time catching his breath. He used his wind ability to create a vacuum of wind around the demon; cutting off his air supply. Choking is one of the worst, most helpless feelings someone could have. Karma was truly a bitch.
With the demon subdued for now, I ran over to Father. He had already lost a lot of blood. I placed two fingers on his neck, checking for a pulse. *Please, let him be alright*.
Liquid ice was shooting up my veins as I flipped my Father onto his back. A slow rise and fall of his chest was encouraging, but I had no medical experience. There were so many open wounds from the split wood. I had no idea if it was better to take them out, or if that would risk further infection and blood loss. Lightly, I slapped the side of my Father's face, hoping for some kind of reaction. Nothing.
He wasn't waking up. I was about to shout for Devon to help, maybe he could use some ability to stop the bleeding; when a sharp pain resonated from my shoulder. I cocked my head to the side to see the demon, still unable to breathe, with clawed fingers ripping into my flesh. A metallic taste took me by surprise. I coughed up blood over my Father's chest.
The demon's claws retracted, taking bits of my skin with it. Quickly, my true love tackled my attacker and pinned him atop the destroyed stone. Devon snuffed out his ability, allowing the demon to gulp some much needed air.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Devon demanded punching the demon.
The demon spat out bits of tooth. "Saving the world. Shiuku can't have a child! The DSS will crumble!"
Darting from around the corner, Sekai skidded to her knees landing beside Father. She flung off her shirt, pressing the fabric to his largest wound. Pinching his nose, she leaned over and gave him mouth to mouth. I had been so panicked, I hadn't noticed Father's heartbeat was slowing down. Somehow the air she was giving to him started healing his injuries. A lot of his blood was already decorating the floor, but at least no more will spill. His pale face had a small amount of color now too.
I waited for the fluttering of his eyes, but Father stayed knocked out. Sekai's first aid may have stabilized him, but he still needed some medical assistance. Over and over I reminded myself how strong my Father was. He had faced death's embrace several times in his youth, but always made it out. He was a survivor just like me. Father would be okay, he had to.
"What do you mean? Shiuku will have your head for this!" A bit of spit landed on the demon's face as Devon roared animalistically.
The demon opened his mouth to spit back at Devon. "I don't care if that psycho kills me. My loyalty is the DSS. Shiuku's spawn needs to die! I'm only helping the right side, unlike your chicken ass!"
Devon gritted out, "Aileen is part of the DSS and friends with the final guardian. Do they know you've attacked her?"
"No, but I will be celebrated once they find out about her little bump. I don't enjoy the fact I'll be killing her, but I won't allow Shiuku to gain such an advantage! The girl has to die!"
I hadn't thought of that one yet. The DSS could find I am too big of a risk. Lena would support me, but everyone else was another story. My baby was in danger no matter where I went.
"I won't let you touch her. I'm not just going to let you kill my love, or that child! I'll protect them both!"
The demon snarled, "I don't know why you are claiming that woman, but if there is any loyalty left in you for the DSS; end her life now. Hell, it might be a mercy for her."
Knowing that my Father was at least somewhat safe at the moment, I limped over clutching my open wound. A trail of blood followed in my footsteps. I would need a doctor as well. This kind of blood loss would not be good for my baby. My vision was already becoming fuzzy again. Now was not the time to black out! I just needed to hold myself together a bit longer.
Hobbling over to the demon, I placed a shaky hand on Devon. "Don't kill him. Let me talk."
Devon looked up at me like I was insane. Maybe I was.
"Instead of taking the life of someone you know nothing about, why don't you join us."
This time Devon really did think I'd lost it. "Is that baby already clouding your mind? This bastard just tried to kill you and your unborn baby."
"We...could use more...allies and help gather those who...hate it...here. He will just have to promise to stay away from me." The room was spinning. I needed to sit down.
Devon caught me. I leaned against his taunt body glancing down at the demon. His eyes were no longer red. They were a soft hazel. I tried to reassure him. "We are forming a team to...fight...Shiuku. The DSS...is involved. Don't stain your hands...with a innocent child, even if he/she is a half demon born from Shiuku's seed."
"I don't trust you." He screamed under Devon. In response, my love rammed his fist into the demon's mouth. I heard some more of his teeth shattering underneath Devon's knuckles.
My body started shivering, whether from illness, or injury; I had no idea. "Don't trust me then. But trust in our mission. Dev is tired of being a...lapdog and has been risking his life to aid Squad Leader Lena."
Pins and needles came from my hurt shoulder. Sekai had a hand over mine using painful wisps of air to seal up the sight of my injury. I clenched my teeth to keep from screaming out in agony. This was by far worse than the claws ripping through my flesh.
Soon enough, Sekai's hands fell, as did the rest of her exhausted body. I had no idea how, but she had healed my gashes along with the worst of Father's.
She placed a limp hand to my belly and closed her eyes. I could feel a wave of some kind rippling under my skin; another sensation I did not like. Thankfully, that was over quicker than the shoulder thing she did.
"The baby is safe. You still need to go to infirmary as does sexy daddy over there."
Even in my frail state I managed to grimace. I did not like her referring to him as 'sexy daddy'.
"No!" The demon shouted.
Devon clearly had enough of his murderous intentions and was about to finish him off when another unfamiliar voice called out. "Dustin that's enough. That girl saved my true love from Nembin. He would have destroyed her.
*Nembin, that name sounded familiar. I just couldn't place it.*
"Why would she?" He snarled.
Newcomer gave a reassuring smile. "That's it. She didn't have a reason. But my girl was given to Nembin as a reward. Aileen saved her. I want to hear more about this plan. I will join your team."
The two demons had a staring match before our attacker agreed to give our group a chance. Devon begrudgingly mentioned talking to him further while Sekai informed me it was needed to visit the infirmary. Father wasn't in good shape and I needed some care too.
"Father will be okay right? You saved him." I muttered trying to stand back up.
Devon stayed on top of the demon until I was on my feet, relying on Sekai's upper body strength to support me. She flung me over right shoulder then walked over to Father, carefully bending over, she scooped Father up over her left.
"I steadied his breathing and heart rate. I was able to close up the worst of his wounds, but he had already lost a lot of his life's essence. The rest is up to him." Sekai's voice wavered. He may have been my Father, but he was also her true love.
Neither of us were ready for him to die.
