My feelings that something was wrong were accurate.
I slowly pulled up and then stopped behind a cop car.
" Officer, what's the problem."
" There was a break-in."
" The ladies in this house were attacked, and they have been taken to the hospital."

I could not contain myself. I sped down the road and straight to the hospital. When I arrived at the emergency room, I asked the desk where they were. Kara was in room two, and her mother was in room three. It was nice of them to put them side by side. I walked into Kara's room first. She was asleep. I then went and checked on her mom.
" What the hell happened?"
" After you left, three men broke into the house and wanted to know where you were."
" They also wanted to know when they would fight."
That confirmed my suspicions they were trying to intimidate Kara. I then went to talk to the nurse in charge. She explained to me that Kara had been beaten pretty badly. She did put up a fight. She had a black eye and fractured ribs.
