Chapter 50: Proposing
Davids POV
I found her walking down the street from her house. I drove right past her. I made a U-turn and pulled up in front of her. She was pissed. She was yelling at me, telling me she was leaving. That she did not want to talk to me and leave her alone. I was trying desperately to get her to talk to me. She started punching me in the chest. I just stood there and took it. It hurt, and I knew it would leave bruises. However, she had every right to voice her feelings. I could start to feel she was losing her strength to continue to hit me. She was crying hysterically. She was beginning to gasp for breath and hold her side. I could see her sway; she was about to lose consciousness. I caught her just before she hit the ground.
I took her back to my house and put her in my bed. I then tied her hands to the bed. I was going to talk to her before she left. If she decided to leave after I asked her to marry me, I would let her out of her contract and even help her get into college with her father. While she was sleeping, her mother arrived.
" Where is Kara?"
" She is in the bedroom sleeping."
She walked in and saw that i had tied her to the bed.
" I wish I had thought of that when she was growing up."
I was surprised when her mother said that. She gently touched her cheek and smiled.
" Rest, my stubborn girl."
I agreed with her mother that she was stubborn. When she made up her mind, she was going ot get it accomplished. I did not know if I was breaking the law or if it was considered kidnapping. However, I was going to talk to her. I deserved that much after everything I had to go through tonight. I went to the fights to defend her and get my revenge. She started to wake up. I went to get her something to drink to take her medicine when she woke up. When I walked back into the room, she was awake and still pissed.
" Kara, I will let you go after you listen to me."
" Go to hell."
She was still pissed off at me. I'm sure being tied to the bed was not helping my situation. After a few minutes, I decided to try again. She was sleeping. I untied her. I sat at the end of the bed. Watching her sleep while she was in pain was something I was never going to do again. She tossed and turned. At one point, she was even holding her breath when she moved, and the pain jolted her. I was relieved when she woke up again. While she was sleeping, I had gotten two pills out of her pain medication to give to her when she woke up again.
" I thought you might be hurting."
" Here, take these."
After she took her medication, she looked at me. This time, her eyes looked up and down my body. A concerned look flashed across her face.
" What happened to you?"
I explained to her what I did for her. I did not do it to get her to feel sorry for me or for sympathy. I then told her that I had won and about Whitney's and Marcus's condition. While she was sleeping earlier, I talked to her father and told him everything. I then asked for his blessing to marry his daughter, and he said that I had it. She rolled her eyes, but she did not lash out at me this time. Then her mother came into the room. Her mother kissed her on the head and then smiled. I had also asked for her blessing. I told her that I loved her daughter. I wanted to marry her. I also told her that I would take care of both of them for their whole lifespan if I could convince Kara to marry me.
Kara was shocked that her mother was so nonchalant about the situation.
" I told her that I'm in love with you."
" Kara, I want to marry you."
I got down on one knee and pulled the ring out of my pocket. The look on her face was priceless. She said yes, that she would marry me. I accidentally hugged her a little too tightly and hurt her. I helped her change into one of my T-shirts. I knew she was hungry. I helped her into bed, then left the room. I ordered Chinese food for everyone. I had no idea what she liked or what her mother liked. So I ordered one of everything off the menu. The bill was expensive. However, it was worth it. Kara's mother was happy. She helped herself ot some lo mein, sesame chicken, and a wonton. I assumed that Kara liked the same things as her mother, so I got her a little of everything. When I walked into the room, she was sleeping again. That medication made her sleepy. I put her food on a little table, and I also put her ring there.
It would be there when she woke up again. I then went to my home office to make some phone calls. I needed to check on the computer company and also to have Kara excused from classes. I called my best friend Marcus. He has been with me since we were kids.
" Yes, Boss."
" How are things at the factory?"
" They are moving along."
I was delighted to hear that. I then called the street fights to see about Karas' fight. The guy who answered the phone was not very helpful. He had. An attitude. He was probably a friend of Whitney. She was hurt badly, and I knew that. However, I was not sorry that she had gotten hurt so badly. She deserved it for attacking Kara and her mother. I had tried for several years to protect the people that I loved and cared for. I knew that people in fights could be so mean and cruel, especially in street fights. I was still upset with myself because I hadn't told Kara where I was going that night. If I had just been honest with her, then she would never have been in danger. She probably would have stayed away from them.
In a roundabout way, I was trying to protect her from that life. She was making good progress in her training. Now she just had to perfect her stances, and she had to put more muscle behind her hits. However, she could hit pretty hard right now. I finished my business in my office. It was late. I took a shower and then crawled into bed with Kara. She rolled over and cuddled up with me.
