Chapter 9
In Scarlett's Perspective:
Anyone would be excited seeing his body.
I could feel my face starting to flush. I must look like a teapot filled with hot water, steaming all over.
I really didn't expect Lucas to have such stamina. After the night, my body was almost falling apart.
I thought no one knew him better than I do now.
Honestly, it was hard to imagine. Lucas had been single for years and had had minimal interaction with women. How did he manage to stay single for so long?
I mean, how did he endure the desire? Being dominated by desire was not a pleasant feeling.
I nodded at Lucas and wrapped my pajamas a little tighter around me.
But I also knew that this action wouldn't do much.
Lucas stared at me for a few seconds, then suddenly smiled and put down the towel in his hand.
"The effects of the medicine have worn off. Luckily, you didn't have a fever." Lucas gently brushed my hair from my forehead and kissed my brow.
His action made me feel extremely ambiguous, and I forgot all the words I had planned to say.
"Last night..." I lowered my head, not daring to look at Lucas, and finally mustered the courage to reach out and tug his finger.
Lucas immediately leaned in, looking at me seriously. That expression seemed to encourage me to continue.
Lucas had always been like this, respecting my thoughts. His gaze was gentle, making me feel at ease.
"Let's pretend last night never happened, okay?" I asked tentatively, holding onto his finger.
Since I woke up, he hadn't mentioned what happened last night. I didn't know if he had forgotten.
But I didn't think he would forget so easily.
"At least for now, I couldn't accept it." I couldn't help but grip his finger tighter. "I did that with my closest uncle."
I was not someone who resisted sexual activities. But when I realized I had had sex with Lucas, I couldn't help but want to run away, preferably to a place where no one could find me.
Lucas stared at me for a long time before slowly nodding. A hint of disappointment flickered in his eyes, but he swiftly reverted to his gentle and composed manner.
"I promise you," He rubbed my head and said, "How do you feel now?"
He had returned to being the Lucas I respected.
"If you feel uncomfortable, you can stay at my place for a while." Lucas sat beside me, observing my reaction while massaging my arm.
I had just casually squeezed my arm because it was sore, and he noticed.
I am truly grateful for Lucas's care, which was invaluable and irreplaceable.
But I didn't want to go to his place now, nor did I need to recuperate.
"How is Oliver? Did the officers give her a hard time?" I quickly shook my head, solely interested in Oliver's well-being.
She went to Alexander's villa because of me and got arrested by the officers.
"Don't worry." Lucas suddenly chuckled, patting my shoulder to reassure me. "I've already bailed her out. She's home now."
Hearing that Oliver was okay, I finally felt relieved.
She took a dangerous risk to seek justice for me. How could I not be concerned for her? Upon hearing of Oliver's arrest, I was unsure of what steps to take.
Given my limited resources, persuading the police to release her would be challenging. They prioritized money over justice.
Luckily, Lucas was a reliable family member. Otherwise, I wouldn't know what to do.
"I'm fine now. Can I visit her?" The only thing I wanted to do now was to check on Oliver.
I wouldn't feel at ease until I saw her.
"I understand." Lucas pinched my cheek like he did when I was a child, then got up to change clothes.
I quickly showered and got dressed.
"Let's go. I'll take you back." Lucas, dressed in casual attire, pointed to the door.
We drove towards the slums in his limited-edition sports car, the shiny vehicle standing out amidst the rundown surroundings.
We were in silence, simply relishing the cool breeze. Passersby paused to observe and at times engaged in conversation.
The car was moving fast, so we couldn't hear what they were saying. But I could guess that it was probably about the flashy car and its mysterious owner.
The environment here was rundown. Before coming here, I was worried Lucas might disdain this place.
Lucas lived a very privileged life at home and interacted with elites from all walks of life.
But he seemed unfazed, stepping on the muddy ground in his expensive shoes without even a frown.
Finally, his car stopped near Oliver's house.
"Go ahead," Lucas remained by the car, watching me without any intention of approaching and said, "I transferred money to your card."
What was he doing? I didn't need his money.
"No need." I wanted to refuse because I had enough money myself.
But Lucas shook his head and glanced at Oliver's place.
"During the two years you were in a coma, Oliver dedicated a significant amount of money and effort to taking care of you," Lucas explained, "Now her daughter needs to attend a special school, and the expenses are quite high."
I didn't expect him to consider Emily's situation so thoroughly.
I could only swallow my refusal.
"Thank you." I had to accept his kindness. "I'll take it as a loan."
Since I left at eighteen, I had been working and earning money on my own. I hadn't used Lucas's money or sought his help.
But this time, I might have to seek his help.
Oliver had helped me so much; I couldn't do nothing.
"I understand." Lucas didn't insist on leaving the money or saying "You don't need to pay me back."
"Pay me back when you have the money." Lucas got into the car and leaned out of the window. "I won't set a deadline for you."
After saying that, he left.
I watched the car's shadow disappear, feeling a mix of emotions.
Honestly, I didn't know how to face Lucas right now.
After Lucas left, Oliver came over. She must have known someone had brought me back but didn't want to disturb me.
"Was that your boyfriend who brought you back?" Oliver elbowed my waist, a look of disbelief on her face. "Did you two make up?"
"He's not my boyfriend." I shook my head immediately. "He's my uncle, Lucas Bennett."
After explaining to her, Oliver frowned in thought for a while, then suddenly said with concern.
"Is he from the Bennett family? You should stay away from him. They're not good people."
