Chapter 11

That night Berliana felt a disturbance from those smart-asses. Surely they were also making things easier, since she had created so many high-level safeguards that could not be tampered with by those people who would only destroy them.

Berliana closed her eyes and felt the soft strokes on her thigh again. The things that happened once you guys were still the way you are now make me a little suspicious. Does everything really feel like something familiar? Until her brain gave her hormones and made her wake up.

But just like what she was talking about, the cooking felt so gentle like a familiar figure and understood that she was a bit of a wriggler. Moreover, when that person touched her leg and deliberately did that to make her squirm then she wouldn't be able to sleep peacefully either.

Even if a cockroach's tail crossed her leg she would also wake up, so now Berliana looked up and looked at the quiet surroundings.

"I don't seem to be dreaming today, why do I feel like something is actually coming and touching my leg?"

Berliana sighed heavily, then looked around again to make sure that there really wasn't anyone.

"I locked my house with double security, and there's no way anyone could come in and disturb me like this. What's more, there's no way he'd do things like that right away, let alone intentionally do some touching to my body."

Berliana sighed softly, she had gotten something like this twice and she had never found anyone who did it either. She didn't know what she could do, but then she decided to cover herself tightly with the blanket and travel capsule that she always wore when hiking in the mountains.

No one would be able to get inside and touch her body again, as she had already protected it by using this method. She needs to keep sleeping to restore her energy because tomorrow we will prepare the last part of the presentation.

It was a long night for Berliana as she heard footsteps although she didn't know who was already in her house besides her. When she woke up the next morning, Berliana looked tired because she had been disturbed by the sound all night.

"Is this house inhabited?"

Berliana felt goosebumps but then she sighed. "You're a robot expert, Berliana. How can you believe in such things," she said to herself.

She didn't know what she could do. After all, her mind was a little stuck and she still recognized that it was all her own hallucination. Rising from the bed, Berliana showered and got ready for work again. But she took the time to make a quick visit to Victor's room and found him standing where he was in the same position.

"He couldn't have done it, could he?" she asked with a serious look.

Berliana was suspicious of the robot she had built herself, which was not unusual. After all, she had heard of robots betraying their creators and some robots losing control to humans.

Berliana knew it could happen again but she didn't want to be suspicious. Victor's robot was something she had made with her whole heart, in the sense that it wouldn't be possible to create something dangerous for him. Berliana had made it as good as it could be, there was no way she was going to make things change.

"I know what I can do to get evidence. Most likely, he would never let me do it if he knew what my plan was."

Berliana smiled a little, then stepped out without greeting the robot Victor who was watching her with his moving eyes. Arriving outside the house, Berliana sighed softly and looked up at the sky.

"No matter what, I have to find out who did all this. If there really is someone who already knows this in my house then I will also know that I installed CCTV. But I can't let him know that I've installed CCTV, because if he can touch me while I'm sleeping, then it's the same as him knowing all my movements and I won't let that happen."

Berliana was feeling rather annoyed, there were two places where she had to deal with something that was annoying to her. One was Jeff, the second was the figure that was bothering her in the house. She didn't know who he was, because she never managed to find him when she opened her eyes anyway. That made Berliana feel that she had to slowly investigate him because otherwise she would be doomed in this matter.

That morning she made a quick stop at the electronics store and bought 2 pieces of portable CCTV that could be installed by herself. She also bought a few other small items and came to the office, thankfully it was a quieter day as Jeff didn't come to disturb her. Berliana and her colleagues could calmly do the work and tasks that they had to do after Friday.

"What's with the bags under Miss Berliana's eyes? Can't you sleep peacefully?"

Even her coworkers asked about it while she was having lunch with them. Berliana rubbed under her eyes and smiled softly.

"There was a mouse in my house last night so it was quite disturbing, I bought the medicine this morning and will put it in my room tonight. Maybe it's because the house I live in is still too sparse for people since it's a rental house. So it's normal for there to be rats or the like there."

The professors who were there nodded. "A few days ago one of the capital's laboratory representatives gave me a gift. He is also one of those people who likes development and technology, so he intentionally bought some small mouse-catching robots. Miss, as the inventor of the robot and also a person who can make robots, why not do it? That's very useful because I've tested it and found that it has many advantages.

"It can work 24 hours, it's quiet, and it catches mice quickly and kills them that very second with a gentle squeeze. Then it dumps it somewhere far away from the house and comes back. The robot is box-shaped and has a trap inside with a scanner sensor system. Apart from mice it can also catch some nuisance insects and it makes our house quieter now. I think you'll need it if the house you're currently living in is experiencing the same thing."

Berliana smiled at that. "I've heard about the robot and more or less admire the person who made it but for me it's not really an important solution. I'm someone who loves living things and I don't usually kill living things like that even with robots. Aren't there breeding and disposal sites for rats? Then why kill them?

"I can't even bear to see people lose someone they love. Even though they just died and weren't killed but it's been a big stumbling block in my heart for years. I don't know how to make things better because after all humans do have eyes where they die and where they are born. The way that the experts and inventors of the robot made it is quite contrary to me but I applaud its great ability to make things easier for humans." Berliana commented at length making them nod.

"Actually, that's true, if we kill the rats we'll break the food chain. After all, snakes need rats, rats can also prey on insects. But since only a small number of people are using the robot, it can be confirmed that everything is still going well. Moreover, it can also be said that every day a rat is born and every day a rat dies, so everything is not dependent on a cycle where death is only one of the things considered. Because the two can still balance each other but if there is a massive hunt it can only cause extinction."

They nodded and continued to talk about the rat in question. Berliana originally had no intention of discussing rats because she also wanted to hide the fact about a person who had disturbed her sleep for the past few nights. But since they also didn't ask further about why she wasn't sleeping well, Berliana felt at ease now that she could keep it a secret again.

She couldn't possibly say that someone had disturbed her sleep, they would think she was in danger and it would be magnified while she also didn't want to make things more complicated. How Berliana was not a person who wanted to complicate things, she was in a very big deal right now and did not want to involve many people and make trouble.

"Has anyone taken your part and place in the company and office? And you're just doing nothing about it?"

Jeff looked at his friend who just asked, before he finally nodded. "Actually I'm not just doing nothing, I want to do something but I can't because everyone is a difficult person anyway. I'm not good at robotics so the government is looking for someone else who can be relied on in this matter. Uncle also knows that I don't have much expertise, I have to think about my reputation and it's impossible to carelessly agree to what is not my part. That's why I can't prevent the government and the owner of the laboratory organization from looking for someone else," he said, causing his uncle to pause.

The man who had served as mayor for several years sighed. He knew that his nephew was unreliable and that was something he quickly denied. Because just to get the job he wanted, Jeff had to use his uncle's hand.

"If it wasn't for the fact that you are the one and only person who will inherit the Stennys family lineage, my two daughters and you are the only male descendant, I wouldn't have looked at you for a long time either. But what can I say, all this has become a bit of a bad ending. I also have to because no matter what the future will not be easy." The man said leaving Jeff to stare at him silently.

His uncle was the mayor and of course it was very easy for this man to get any information, including someone who had started to dominate in Jeff's office. Jeff didn't know what to say, everything was completely out of his control and he couldn't do anything carelessly.

"If you really want to do something, in the future it will be easier if you learn something that will be related to this. But you're also just a child who doesn't want to learn, you just think your parents will keep giving you what you want. It's as if you think that we won't die and will always be with you. Do you think we are gods?"

The man got up from his place and walked over to Jeff who immediately looked down.

"You should learn from now on and try to upgrade yourself for the better. You have to know that in the future there won't be many things you can rely on, especially if that person manages to get the government's heart, you might be displaced. The government or president might not have the heart to fire you outright, but you should know that petitions are also very useful and it could be one of the systems that the president will use to keep you out of the laboratory department and modern technology office.

"Expand your horizons and abilities, don't get dumped just because of a new person. Don't let yourself be wasted and laughed at by many people as the mayor's useless nephew. You can't always get that place because you should know that the future might be harder for you and I can't help you much."
