Chapter 8

Berliana woke up quickly when she realized whose name she was calling. Looking around at the well-lit surroundings since she didn't like sleeping with the lights off, Berliana couldn't find anyone and it made her wonder.

"Am I dreaming? Why does that touch feel so familiar?"

Berliana sighed, feeling a little sad about the whole thing especially when she woke up not finding the person she mentioned earlier.

How could that man exist when she didn't even exist in this world anymore. Victor had already left her, she had no ability whatsoever to come and stop.

"I was just dreaming, probably because I missed him too much."

Opening the nightstand drawer, Berliana took out a photo and looked at the smiling man there. She lay staring at the photo, knowing that now she could only release her longing on a photo and a robot. Because of their different realms, she could no longer find him anywhere.

"Why did you have to leave first?"

It was an unanswered question until now. Berliana didn't even care if she was considered childish because of this. She had lost someone who mattered to her and that was not something easy to forget, especially since they had gone through life and death together since childhood.

Closing her eyes, Berliana let her tears fall. In front of others, she might have been a tough girl who wasn't afraid of anything. But she was never afraid of that and was never afraid if she had to deal with humans who were useless to her, what she feared was her own life and the deepest sadness in her life was losing Victor.

No one knew how much she had such deep sorrow. She was also one of those people who would even do anything because of their different abilities.

There was no more touch like that that she felt even until morning came and it made Berliana or that she might just be dreaming. Sometimes dreams could be felt all the way to the real world but when she woke up and found it all unreal then she could only make it all sound plausible.

"Never mind, I have another new presentation today about the memory reservoir that the robot system will use." Berliana rubbed her face and pulled back the covers. "After this, I'll probably rest for a while and then go to the part of making the frame and also the body shape that will be used by the robot. The work of connecting the components and creating the system that will be used for the inside of the robot is easy, since there are already sample materials used. In the future, we only need to build a factory for this, since the tests I conducted were successful."

Berliana smiled excitedly even though she knew that her goal was still very far away. The life she was living now was very good, in a few months or years time there would be more things she could do and everything would work out without any flaws.

"I'm sure all the loneliness I'm experiencing right now will end soon. I will get whatever I want, including the right to let a human robot live at home and will use sunlight as the main source. But it will stay alive if it does recharge, and it can also still use white oil as fuel. It is an alternative if it observes lights and cannot operate because it has run out of battery, but still the most important thing is charging."

Berliana said again in front of the professors, pointing out some of the parts as well as the benefits and uses of each. They were people who had nothing but a normal life. Even though they were created to increase the population, it didn't mean that they would do things that were not ordered.

"So some of the robots will also behave like employees who are commanded by their bosses and also have intelligence that can be regulated and used for what purpose. That's why they must really be created in a good way and know that carelessness will only result in destruction. After this, hopefully there won't be any strange things like what was said at home that robots can control the brain and humans. I minimized all the things that could create that by making everything more stable and simple robots."

The meeting is still going on to create a good robot that can possibly be used as a very useful tool and will not be carelessly broken. After all, they will be using it in the long run.

"The government has tried to please people in the past but none of them are willing to have offspring. It's very difficult for them to determine all of that when it's just said that they can even live everything very calmly because the cost of education and all things are covered by insurance and won't have to pay anymore. They just need to give the children something to eat but that's all they have to think about. There are so many childfree people in this country and there are so many people who won't be able to deal with everything anymore."

"Right, I don't know what makes them afraid of having children. Maybe they're actually the ones who aren't ready to be parents because they think they can't be a good example because in this country, of course, ethics are the main thing and they can't necessarily make their children learn about that. So they act like someone who doesn't want to have children at all. It makes them feel more relieved and less demanding."

"Haih, if they hadn't done that a long time ago there would be tons of children playing here and life wouldn't have changed so much. The government also wouldn't have spent so much money on robots just to keep the city running. However if they don't become a family and if anything happens then I won't care what anyone says anymore, because it's already a very annoying ending for me."

They worked while whispering and living within earshot of Berliana. But whatever this girl was doing, it certainly wasn't anything new as they had and couldn't afford to do anything that got them heavy so they stopped it.

"They have reached the stage of refining and manufacturing the frame that will be used on the robot. This Miss Berliana's movements are so fast, I suspect she's not actually human because her thinking is so accurate and she has the ability to detect things quickly. Is it possible or is it probable that the girl is an islander and will also soon become our family. With that it will be easier because everything goes quickly."

The person reporting was startled when Jeff threw the book he was reading about robot science. The man looked unhappy from the look on his face that they were used to seeing because this man would not be happy if someone else managed to surpass him.

"Damn it, it looks like they're getting close to the human recognition stage and showing the results to the government. I can't let all this happen or my position could be dragged down and replaced by Berliana. She can't get my position because this is a place that only I will own and occupy. She's a girl who wants to usurp a place that I own? She shouldn't just go around and make me one of her targets." Jeff said with a dark face.

He really didn't expect that she was so determined and didn't even care about herself. But she was trying to get public attention.

"I have a plan." Jeff said as he looked at one of his men. "In two days the government will come and see what they have to show. We can sabotage a bit of the system they're going to show and make a mess of things. That way, it will be easier for us to thwart what he's about to do."

His men were silent for some time. "But how do we get into Miss Berliana's room, sir? She has her own room and is now in control of the laboratory and production site. We won't be able to just walk in there."

Jeff looked at him with a flat face. "Do you think she's the one who's in charge here? I'm the head of the organization's office, I can also get in wherever I want. Don't underestimate me, you just get ready for tonight and we'll do what we want right away. I'm not going to let Berliana continue to go around me as she pleases."

His men nodded and said no more, while Jeff had already taken a few breaths and let them out. He wasn't going to let her continue to beat him and gain face before the government, he was going to let her know who she was up against. Of course, that would not make Jeff stand still because what he was facing was also not a little girl but Berliana who had already gained a name in the world's global organizations.

The robot he created, Jeff knew it was useful but he wasn't going to let Berliana do it. He wasn't good at it but he wouldn't let someone else do it if he could get someone to do it himself.

He was already one of the most admired and feared heads of the organization, he wouldn't let anyone surpass him just because they were a little more skilled.

"I'm not going to put this thing here, it's dangerous to leave it so I'll take it home and keep it in my house properly."

As it was time to go home, Berliana was seen tidying up some of the things she would take home and what she would leave behind. Since she knew that Jeff would never like what she was trying to do, she would try to stay away from any risks that might occur.

Especially today, the man seemed to be deliberately looking for trouble and upsetting her.

"He won't be able to destroy what I'm trying to do. He's not playing with a child so what he's planning will never come true."

Berliana moved slowly and left the room. She was ready to make her mission a reality and she wasn't going to let anyone destroy those dreams. She knew that there would be people who were not happy with what she was trying to do.

Returning to her house and washing her feet as usual and then entering the room where she could meet with Victor, she hid what she had brought into one of the secret devices, she would not let others make it as devastating as losing Victor.

The inactive robot she remained with a soulful face, as if gazing at someone who meant a lot to her.

"Victor... I work hard enough and feel tired every day to be able to strive for what I am hoping for. I hope you're praying for me in the beyond. I'm doing all this and hoping for you, I hope you don't let me down."

Berliana knew she couldn't blame or do this to Victor, but she was sure he would hear her in the heavens. She was sure he would do everything that was best for her.

"I will do my best, to get everything. I'll try to make things work."
