Girl’s Night Confessional

The clock struck eight as the last rays of the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm, golden hue over the balcony in Amelia’s room. I sit on her bed, and we prepare for a much-anticipated sleepover.

Amelia, with her long, red hair cascading over her shoulders, is busy arranging snacks on a small table. “I think we’re all set,” she said, placing a bowl of fresh berries next to an assortment of chocolates and wine.

I plop down on the pile of blankets at the bottom of her bed. “This is going to be so much fun! We have needed some girl time. So much has happened with Elau and Luke,” I exclaim, plucking a few berries from the bowl and popping them in my mouth.

We settle into our makeshift nest, the soft glow of the enchanted flowers create a magical ambiance. Amelia opens the wine and pours me a glass.

“So, how are things going with Elau? With Maeve gone I’m assuming you have all of his attention now.” she smirks, her voice filled with genuine curiosity.

I sigh, a dreamy smile spreading across her face. “He’s amazing, Amelia. I can’t believe how lucky I am. He’s always so thoughtful and sweet. I can’t believe it took us so long to realize our feelings?”

Amelia nods, a smile tugging at her lips. “That’s so cute! It sounds like he really cares about you.”

“What about you and Luke? How are things going? I haven’t been able to talk to you about him yet.”

Amelia hesitates for a moment before speaking. “It’s been a bit rocky lately. We’ve been arguing more than usual, and I’m not sure why but sometimes it feels like we’re not on the same page.”

I frown, concern etched on my face. “I’m sorry to hear that, Amelia. Do you think it’s something you can work through?”

“I hope so,” Amelia replied, her voice soft. “I think we just need to communicate better. Sometimes it feels like we’re both holding back, not saying what we really mean. It’s frustrating. But god he is a beast in bed.”

I laugh and nod in understanding. “Communication is so important, but so is sex. Maybe you guys could try to talk things out, really listen to each other. It might help. And if that doesn’t work just jump his bones cause good sex is just as powerful as words.”

Amelia chuckles, “ I think you’re right. I’ll talk to him and see if we can figure things out.”

We girls fall into a comfortable silence, the only sound is the gentle rustling of the blankets as we shift positions. After a few moments, I speak up again,

“Can I tell you something?” I look into her eyes earnestly.

“Of course!” She assures me by grabbing my hand.

I take a deep breath and explain everything about my possible past and magical abilities. I rant feeling the weight of this secret leave me. I bring up the Lunasprites and the possibility of Elau and I leaving on the next full moon to find them.

I nod, my hands fidgeting in my lap. "Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out. When we were at the Pixie hollow I disappeared for a bit. Do you remember that?”

Amelia nods slowly. "Yeah, I remember. We all assumed you went for a walk in the woods."

"Well, it did but I was guided by a pixie to the Light Goddess," I continue. "She told me that I was from Tartarean and that I have Royal Blood. Plus all of the weird magical things that have happened to me."

Amelia’s eyes widened. "A secret witch princess? This is like something out of a fairy tale. Are you sure this isn’t some elaborate prank? Maybe Elau just wants you to be a royal, you know, so you could get married"

I shake my head. "I wish it were. I’ve been practicing some of the spells, and they work, Amelia. And if we are right about the Lunasprites I will have my proof."

Amelia sits back, trying to process everything. "This is... a lot to take in. So, you’re saying you have magical powers and you’re royalty of Tartarean? How does that affect you being a human ambassador? Since you know, you aren’t human?"

"I don’t know," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. "But for right now I can’t worry about that. I will confess everything to the King and Queen once I have my proof. And I will do as I am told with my ambassador role.”

Amelia takes a deep breath, trying to wrap her head around the revelation. "Okay, but why are you telling me this now?”

I look at my friend, her eyes filled with uncertainty. "I don’t know about going to the Venamel Forest, it makes me nervous and I’m still figuring it all out. But I needed to tell you because you’re my best friend, and I don’t want to keep secrets from you."

Amelia reaches out and takes my hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "I’m glad you told me. This is a lot to handle, but we’ll figure it out together. You’re not alone in this."

I smile, relief washing over me. "Thank you, Amelia. I was so scared you wouldn’t believe me or think I was crazy."

Amelia chuckles softly. "Well, it’s definitely not what I expected to hear today, but I believe you. And if you’re a witch and a princess, then how cool is that!"

My eyes sparkle with gratitude. "You have no idea how much that means to me. So what do you think? Should Elau and I go look for the Lunasprites?"

Emily grinned. "I think it is important you find out the truth. If the Goddess herself spoke to you it must be important.”

I look down worried about my impending trip. "I know, I am just scared. All of this is so much and I don’t think I have fully processed it. Like what if I am a Princess. Does that mean I go to Tartarean and announce myself? What am I supposed to do after I find out the truth?"

Amelia nods, understandingly. "Let’s figure out the truth first and then we can go from there. You have so many people on your side, Nic. No matter what I know you will do the right thing.” I lay my head on her shoulder.

“Thank you.” I say with my chest feeling lighter than it has in days.
