28 — Nuisance

He said cute! Laura was in over her head at the way he dropped his eyes, she thought perhaps it was just a thing that she imagined but really, she could believe that if only, he hadn't taken his height to hers and in her face gave the sexiest vibe and said in a really deep voice that came from his throat or better still behind the Adam's apple and whispered in her ear 'cute' . Her heart did a marathon in a beat and he must have noticed because he hadn't regained his height, his eyes were still eye level with hers and she could practically feel his breath on her and the ripples of tiny tingles it created, sent her on an extra drive. She didn't understand what this was but although she knew for certain he was in love with her, she needed to be sure first. Hence when he stood upright and cast a gaze from above her with his nose, she found that demeaning but in a sexual way that just felt right.
"Cute huh? But you're just seeing me for the first time, how'd you know I was cute?' She had a thing about insecurities. It had latched on to her and was constantly feeding on her.
He needed to say something fast, if not it would all go to shit.
"Well, who bears Laura and doesn't end up beautiful? I didn't know you, I hadn't seen your face then and by the gods, heard your voice but right now, right now in this very moment. I'm glad I wasn't wrong at all, seeing you now, hearing this voice that could only be orchestrated by the moon goddess herself, I don't think there's anybody I'd rather marry. I see you and that's all I want to see. You" he had taken a nail and drove through her hand, pinning her to a wall of his own making and it hadn't taken force, just love.
Her body melted with each word that came out of his mouth, he didn't need to say anything more. She was in love.

The next day started well for Nicolas, he had said a few words and he had kissed the girl, blah blah blah and now he was obsessed with what she said about her having powers. He didn't care about her, not one bit but right now, he could re-kiss that mouth of hers if only she would tell him what she meant.
He needed to know what she meant, so he decided to go to the wolf kingdom's library. He hoped they read as much as fell in love with a total stranger.
He got up early, too early for anybody else but no one minded, he was a vampire after all, he ruled the night and practically, two am was still the night.
He knew where the library was, during the tour of the castle, he was shown everywhere in the castle, so he didn't need anything else except a flaming torch to guide his way or some heavy candles.
He got to the already opened library and he dropped his source of light, it didn't matter that there was no one there, he was happy that there was no one there.
He started to browse through each shelf, he needed anything to add to his knowledge of the hybrid, he needed to know so much and so vast before he did any seeding with the little brat.
He picked up some books, in total a series of eight books on all the werewolves history and maybe make up. He looked and looked through each book, aware that the sun would come up at any time and he needed to read twice as fast, and know ten times as much.
He scanned the books for a clue, anything to feed his oversized hunger but all that kept popping up were information that he already knew, he was utterly dissatisfied and frankly annoyed. He didn't understand why they kept so little of themselves, on information. Well he understood why, so that guys like him don't learn the truth about them in their own walls and destroy them from within it. He so wanted to push the books off the desk he was on, everything he had picked and had seen on the shelves were all a bunch of nuisance. He didn't see any reason why they would keep a bunch of useless books, better to not have a library than to have a fake one with literally no information.
He stood up and picked up the books with a tight grudge, he stuffed the books back where they belonged on their useless shelves. He sulked for a bit, searching his wife's memory of a solution to the case he was in and then it hit him.
The wolves were not the only people who had information about themselves, there was a place that had information on everybody including themselves but how would he enter their walls and get to their library? How?
He cleaned his face with his palms out of sheer frustration, 'fuck it' he yelled into the bookshelves. He was just going to go over there and find out by himself.

The early evening had Lily going through the woods for something she didn't know. It was quite unusual of her to be out here at all, it almost seemed like she never left the caves. She just wanted a break from everything that had happened in the weeks before now. Everything kept rushing back and hunting her. She had been a best friend to someone who had betrayed them so much that it had hurt them, literally.
Then the man that brought her up, trained her up to be what she is today, the man that had acted as father figure to her, showed her all the good things that made up the kayans, gave her knowledge and watched her grow up, the man that she so vividly could never see leaving her. He left. He died in his sleep.
She was left shattered, it made her think that perhaps she was the sole problem here, that she alone was the reason for everything that had happened up until now. Someone might very well say,' this was her way of escaping the reality and realization that was happening. A way of solace, perhaps' she just needed a break and so moving through the woods in the early evening soothed her nerves and gave meaning to why she was here at all.
She walked aimlessly and calmly until she started to hear horse steps walking through the words... There was someone here.
She hid.

The early evening found Nicolas trying to escape from the wolf castle and from her, not that she was bad, he just didn't see the reason to be with her tonight, another pretense and lying could get him to act out of character, best he avoided the shenanigans.
He had a trip to embark on, he was going to go to the mayans for information. He left the castle and told a guard to deliver a message to the princess upon her awakening.
The note read:
"My dear princess Laura,
I believe I have a small confession to make. You're probably wondering why you're reading a note and not hearing it from my lips instead. Well, I'll explain that part but first, I need to confess something.
I rode up to your kingdom, mind filled with uncertainties and nervousness. In actuality, I wasn't sure of what to expect when I passed those gates, who to expect to be my bride and most importantly, I wasn't sure of what I felt about all these.
It was an earth shaking moment, a period of pure euphoria that I can't even explain when I saw that you were the one. The girl I was to marry. Your presence alone was like being in the midst of angels. I couldn't believe how lucky I was, surely luck has finally crossed over to my side if it granted me a beautiful bride, such as you are.
Our walk yesterday was nothing short of magical and I'm sure you share the same opinion of it as I do. The charm, the power, the allure in the air yesterday was present there because of you, my love. It was present because you are a walking picture of perfection and even the universe acknowledges this. I see myself doing that with you every day, taking walks and just listening to you talk because your voice is a calming lilt, it's a music fit for the ears of the moon goddess. Don't even get me started on your laughter.
When you asked me what I thought of you yesterday, there were too many things for me to say and so little words to express them. You must forgive this. I think extremely highly of you, you're someone to be worshiped, someone to be cherished and most importantly, someone to be loved. I think all these things of you and more and my first thought when I saw you was, 'Ravishing.' You were as beautiful as a morning star, Laura.
Unfortunately, I will not be by your side this evening and it pains me so. I am on a trip, my love and I won't be back for three days or maybe even more. It is an important trip that I need to embark on, even though it pains me so, and I must say my farewells.
We will meet soon, my love. Sooner than you think because time is nothing but a handful of seconds. Farewell, my love. I shall return soon.
Little did she know that it didn't come from his heart, if anything came from his heart it was relief that he was getting the hell out of here.
Before she'd see this, he would be long gone and she would be fawning over a scented note. He patted his horse as he went further into the forest.he held a map, he had never been to the kaayans kingdom before... He needed all the help he could get, that was before he started to get a whiff of someone in the air, the person was hiding in the bushes and he felt his fangs slide out like they always did when he sensed danger or predator.
He got off his horse, knife in hand and legs planted deep into the soil for support, the smell was masked, like two people in one but still he couldn't get a hang of it. He took in deep inhales, there was something strange about the smell. He crept closer and closer to the bushes, as the smell grew so strong.

She watched this creature, she had only heard about them and read about them in books. He was undoubtedly pale and had the whitest of teeth that in her astonishment grew to really pointed fangs in an instant. She hadn't seen his face because the bush was currently blocking her vision but she didn't mind, it was better to stay hidden, maybe he would go on his way.
But this strange man kept on sniffing and edging closer to her bush, her attack and defense kicked in, she was not about to let him find her out, a commander in hiding.
She was going to defend herself from this unknown creature. Taking a deep breath, she sprang out of hiding, her staff in her hand and her legs planted deep in the earth.
She startled him so much, he doubled back but he didn't give her a way to attack, he resumed his stance and for the first time, she saw his face.
It was the first time she was going to duel with this creature and it so happened to be that he had to be the hottest man alive and one that took the same stance as she normally did. This was going to be a bit of a nuisance.
