64 - Authority

Princess Laura lashed at king Eric but the guards were quick to stop up. The heavily built guard carried her like she weighed a zilch and hoisted her on his shoulder faces down. The princess screamed, hitting his back but he didn't buldge. He is grasps on her thighs we're still firm.
The guard threw her on the bed and the princess shouted when her head hit the headboard of the bed. Her hands on her head, she massaged the spot of her head with throbbing pain then sat up on her, a scowl etched in her features.
The princess spat at the old king just across her room. He was seated on the chair for her dressing mirror and he had two guards standing on each side on him.
She stared hard at the door. It was locked. She turned to the windows and it's small frames wouldn't fit through her body. She needed to escape. She wanted to. Having the vampire king now ruling over the werewolf kingdom was hell.
The old man was crazy and was obsessed with the craze of having an hybrid as heir. It was even crzay to think that he tried to kill his own son. She had watched as the old king hit his son from her room during the war.
She couldn't believe all that the king had said. How could king Eric be responsible for her father's blindness when he wasn't even in the kingdom when it all happened. It was impossible to think that king Eric knew all about the werewolf kingdom.
Her head banged from all the thinking she had to do. The only way the king could know of the secret affairs of the palace was by having a spy in the werewolf kingdom. It had to be a spy. "Who was it?"
King Eric pulled a confused face.
Laura scoffed, "who was it?" She asked again.
"King Eric still couldn't understand. "What do you mean?"
"Who ratted the werewolf kingdom?" The princess spat. "Who was your spy?"
The king laughed. "I had a lot of them but you see, there was this special one that stood out. He help and assistrd me with all I needed. He knew a lot about the werewolf kingdom before his demise."
The princess frowned. Demise?
"I just wished I didn't have to end him but he was inept. I couldn't have him running his mouth and give me away so I ended him."
Princess Laura gasped. "What did you do?"
"I was protecting your kingdom from the tragedy of having to mourn over a lost soul."
The princess stood on her four poster bed. "Who did you kill?" The princess feared it was her father and so her heart started to race.
"He deserved it. Banks betrayed your kingdom."
The racing of her stopped by the princess still gave a frown, sitting on her bed. "Banks would never do that. He wouldn't." The princess said trying to think. "That's impossible."
"He did everything I ordered. He obeyed every command I ordered. He was loyal to me more than he was ever loyal to the werewolf kingdom."
"Lies! They're all lies, you bastard!" Princess Laura couldn't believe her hears. It was impossible. Banks couldn't have been his spy and commiting all those atrocities. He was her father's right hand man.
King Eric laughed. "You're just so naive and gullible. You made things easier for us."
Laura narrowed her eyes, gulping the hard ball that had formed in her throat. She was frozen to her bed due to the shocking revelation. It all started to make sense.
*********
Just like she had thought, she couldn't fit past the window frame. There was no way she could get out of her room. The doors were locked and the frames were too small for her to move past.
Another problem was that, the vampire soldiers were all around. They paraded all around the kingdom ensuring safety and that no one tried to countered thoer authority.
The werewolf soldiers were in the dungeon. They were all captured and thrown into the dungeon. The vampire soldiers dealt with them without mercy.
She needed to escape. She had thought the prince would come for her but she had started to doubt that because of what the king had said. The princess couldn't trust anyone anymore. She had to get herself out of the palace.
She went to the bathroom and gave out a sigh of relief when she saw the window was relatively big. She didn't think before standing on the toilet seat. When she got her head out if the window. She looked down and gulped hard when she saw the distance from her room to the ground
Princess Laura's room was high up on the third fall and she feared jumping down it was a big risk to her life and it was at this moment she wish she had taken fight lessons and trained well. It was compulsory for her to have learn it, it was one one the royal skills she ought to have learnt but she was only interested in dressing up and other princess activites that only made her look beautiful. She had avoided the trainings and fights and now she couldn't defend herself or save her kingdom.
She stepped back into the bathroom and sat on the toilet seat. She couldn't find the courage to go out of the window. Based on the distance, if she fell or slipped while making her way down, she was definitely go to die. It was a very far distance and she couldn't risk her life.
She didn't want to risk her life but she also wanted to get out so stood on the toilet seat again and made to jump down. She had sat on the frame of her window, thinking and trying to deliberate whether or not jumping was a good idea.
The princess decided against it and returned to her room, falling flat on her back on her bed. Her mind drifted to her father.
How was he doing?
Was he okay?
Was the old man sick?
How was he fairing?
All these and more ran through the princess's mind. She couldn't imagine the way her father was living and how he looked. Was Elaine able to see him? If she could see him often then the princess had the assurance that her father was going to be doing well. If not in best condition, he was doing okay.
Her mind drifted to the people. She couldn't imagine the situation of her people. How were they living with the vampires now taking over their kingdom.
Nicholas.
Her heart ached because she didn't know where the love of her life was. She wanted him to save her but she wasn't sure what to think after all that his father had told her. She really wanted to leave and be with him. She wanted to help him to conquer his evil father and save her people. She had no idea what outside of the kingdom looked like and she was sure that was going to bother her father as he cared deeply about the kingdom
The princess sucked in her breath and went into the bathroom again. She stood on the toilet seat and put her head out. She took note of all the safe palces where she could place her leg to climb down the building.
She pushed herself out of the window and held unto the frame of the window so she wouldn't fall. Slow and steady she made her way down and when she got to the second floor she let out a sigh of relive. She continueed to move slow and steady also watching for the guards around. Another sigh went past her lips when she saw she was almost close to the ground.
Laura continued to make her way down when she almost slipped but she was able to regained her firm hold on the brick. Her heart was racing seeing as she had almost fallen to the ground. She stayed still for a while trying to regain her composure while also trying to get her heart beating back to normal.
A few minutes later she was on her way down the wall. She smiled when she saw she was few feets away from the ground but soon she was shouting and falling down.
Her back but the floor in a hard thud. She groaned in pain, crying and rolling on the floor. When she heard foot steps , she rolled into the bushes trying to his herself. She clasped her hands on her lips trying to muffle her cry.
The soldier had heard the loud shout of the princess. He followed the sound but when he got there, he was confused not seeing a sign of anyone and anything. When he was about to leave his eyes caught on a shoe. It was the left foot and it looked expensive. He picked it and searched again but he didn't see anyone around. He exited the scene.
The princess managed to stand from the floor when she saw the soldier wasn't around. She forced herself to crouch down despite knowring that she was hurt. She felt one of her foot on the grass and felt her left shoe was missing. She took off the other shoe and began to make her way towards the gates.
The princess ran as far as she could still crying. What she didn't know was that a soldier saw her while she crossed to the other side. The soldier alerted the others and they began to run after her.
The princess sighted the soldiers and started to run as fast as possible. She ran as fast as her injured legs could carry and while she tried to jumb above a rock, she fell making her right feet hit the rock and she heard a crack from her leg.
She managed to stand and fell to the ground groaning in pain. When she turned around, she saw a couple of soldiers close to her. She stood up and tried to run towards the gates but her ankle was burning in pain. Nonetheless, she moved towards the gate leaping and tears in her eyes.
Just as she had almost gotten to the gates, other guards came from the West and the ones that trailed behind her were also running after her with weapons.
She moved to the east, trying to get away from them. She tried to get away but she was cornered, trapped in a circle formed by the soldiers. One of the soldiers grabbed her and held her by her forearm. He threw her over his shoulders not carring as the princess shouted and tried to wriggle away from his arms. He made his way into the palace.
When he got to the king, the soldier set her down next to him. Other soldiers were around, staying in place and around just in case the princess wanted to escape again.
"You really think you can get away from here." The king chuckled. "You don't even have the brains to desern from good and bad, you have maid's that help you and you think you can get away from here?"
The princess had a frown etched on her face as she groaned due to all the injures and pain she had sustained. The soldier was also holding on to her forearm really tight and it hurt.
"The werewolf kingdom is heavily guarded by my soldiers." He told her. "Take her away!" King Eric told the guards with a wave of hand.
The soldier hoiseted her on his shoulder again and this time the princess succumbed not trying to fight him off. He made his way to the dungeon and greeted the soldiers there. A chamber of the dungeon was opened and he tossed her into it.
He locked the chamber and made his way out.
