41 - Slowly falling
Prince Nicholas couldn't get the anger inside of him out. His head kept on replaying the conversation between the elders and the commander which he heard. He had heard of the long standing hatred between the vampires and kayaans but the vampires had no plans to kill the kaayans. He couldn't believe other kingdoms had spies in his kingdom. The vampire kingdom was heavily guarded so how were they able to get spies?
He looked at the full proof plan on his table but decided against it and squeezed the paper chucking it to where the other scrambled paper were. He couldn't conceive a reasonable plan to protect his kingdom from the kayaans and other kingdoms.
He couldn't also believe the fairies had agreed to become alliied with the kaayans and other states. He remembered the king had led the war to liberate the faires from the witches. It was hard to believe they had gone against the vampire kingdom despite they were the closest kingdom with the vampire. It was shocking.
He needed to get a full proof plan as soon as possible. He wanted to make sure he was one step ahead of the allied kingdoms because it was very obvious they had started planning on how to strike and it was pathetic to learn that the commander would be leading them.
The prince needed to get back to the werewolf kingdom right away. He needed a strategic plan and he couldn't conceive that on his own.Two heads were better than one and so Gaston was going to help.
This was also a way to make his father proud again. He was starting to grow on the old man and he wanted it to remain that way. This could be his big chance to have his father accept him. Saving the kingdom was a huge deal and definitely the king had to be proud of that. He was going to accept and respect him after such a huge save.
He still couldn't wrap his head that Lily wanted to betray their friendship and what they had. It made it heart wrench anytime he thought of it. It was crazy to think that all the late nights the had spent out going around the kingdom and hanging out didn't mean anything to her and it hurt.
His friendship towards her was genuine. He didn't even have plans for the kayaans. He had even forgotten the kayaan kingdom existed. He had a lot on his plate and the least that crossed his mind was attacking another kingdom.
The only reason the vampire and werewolf kingdoms were coming together was to end the long-standing war between both kingdoms and to have a long lasting treaty he had to get married to the werewolf princess. Even though he didn't want to be married off the werewolf kingdom it was a good idea because a treaty could easily be dissolved by any of the parties but it marriage was going to hold it down longer and bring the people together.
He had a plan!
He just needed to get out of here as soon as possible.
******
Commander Lily sighed, pushing herself from her bed. She had dreaded this day since she and the prince became friends. It was hard to think that he was going to leave after she had gotten attached to him. They had spent time together forgetting he wasn't from the kayaans.
Her heart wrench at the thought of her not knowing when next they would meet again. The thought of not having the arrogant prince around to taunt her hurt. Her dear Nico was leaving her and she couldn't believe it. There was no way she could have him here longer. He was wasn't a prisoner and he had a right to go wherever he wanted. He was a leader and he had to be with his subjects.
The prince had told her he was to leave to his kingdom but he knew very well he wanted to go to the werewolf kingdom. He had unfinished business there to solve and he couldn't stand seeing Lily who was going to betray him.
Lily hurried outside of the palace. They had agreed to meet three hours into the night at the forest close the border gates. She walked to the forest briskly hoping he hadn't left because she was past time.
The prince eyes flickered from the watch strapped on his wrist to the path of the forest. He was hoping the forest would vomit the commander anytime soon. He ought to be on his way but they had agreed to meet and he was running late. He wanted to see her one more time before he set out for his journey. His heart would be able to take it if he left without beholding her.
He wanted to hug and cuddle her. He wanted to whisper sweet things into her ears to help her feel better since she was sad he was leaving her kingdom. His hand moved to his horses mane gently stroking the brown fur.
His lips curved up seeing the commander stroll towards him. All the anger he felt towards had started to disappear by just seeing the commander. Shit! She had a strong hold on me, the prince thought. He loved the way her hips swayed side to side as she approached him. The prince got off his horse and hurried to embrace the commander.
They both stayed still, holding on to each other and inhaling each other's smell. Prince Nicholas was sure he was going to miss her lavender scent. It was a smell his nose yearned to inhale every morning. It sucked that they had to part ways and was going to be very difficult for them to see each other regularly.
"Stay." The commander brought out out in a whisper. This was one of the times she was so vulnerable. She had crumbled all her walls to have her say that out. "Please." She begged..
The prince wished he could stay longer to get more time with his stubborn lover.
Lovers.
Were they lovers? He smiled at the thought of being her lover. He could imagine them being happy and doing things lovers did but his heart broke at the thought that they weren't got to see for a long while. He snuggled her closer and tried to take in a deep breath.
It was hard to place a name on their relationship. Was it even a relationship? They stuck to saying they were friends that was probably because they didn't want anyone to know they had a thing and they had never really discussed that topic. He wanted to more. He wished he was more and that they had time to discuss the topic but it was too late to get on that.
Lily broke the hug and moved to the horse. The commander touched the horse's mane and started to stoke her mane. The horse gave soft neighs, enjoying the commander's stroke on it's mane. "This is our last time together. I'll never see you again." She brought out looking anywhere else but the prince face.
He wanted to make her feel better but there was nothing he could do except turn her into a vampire by biting her neck and he decided against that. That wasn't the best option. "I'll still come for my fight training every now and then." He smirked; she smiled.
"You should. We don't want enemies kicking your ass." A corner of the Commander's lips curved up.
"I will miss you."He took the commander's hands. "I'll also miss your stubborn and crazy ass."
She slapped his chest. "You're the stubborn and crazy one."
"Um, you're the one who acts like something crawled up your ass. You don't even act it, something definitely crawled up your ass."
The commander gasped, "who's the arrogant prince between us, huh?" She didn't wait for him to answer the question, she answered herself, "you!"
"I'm not arrogant." Prince Nicholas frowned.
"Have you heard yourself speak? You. Are."
The prince frown deepened. "I'm not arrogant, can you stop saying that?" He gave a frown whilst pouting in annoyance. "Besides, you're the arrogant one, always blabbing about your victories and how strong you are."
Lily narrowed her eyes, "why do I keep indulging you?" She asked her self while the prince chuckled. "At least you agree now that I'm the stronger one."
Princess Nicholas gave a very dramatic gasp. "I didn't saw that."
"Lily beamed with pride, "you said it, I heard it and I know it."
The prince rolled his eyes, putting his arms around the Commander's waist. He tried to get her closer than she always was pulling her closer. Usually, she would protest and thrown a punch but she remained still looking at his eyes.
The prince was staring back at her, directly in her eyes too. His eyes travelled to her lips causing him to pull her closer than she already was. His eyes flickered from the Commander's eyes to her lips. Her lips were plump and they looked succulent and inviting.
Lily was frozen to the ground as she watched the prince eyes move to her lips. The only thing that moved was her heart which was banging in her chest and she hoped prince Nicholas couldn't feel it.
The commander gave a small gasp when she felt soft lips crash into hers. She regained her composure and tried to kiss back, their lips moving in sync. Lily felt butterflies erupt in her belly.as the prince squeezed her waist.
He bit her lower lip, tugging sexily on it as their forehead were together and they gasped for breath. Prince Nicholas took in her lips again, sliding his tongue into her mouth to gain entrance. Their tongue battled for dominance and Lily being the novice that she is was over powered by Nicholas. They continued to kiss for a while before Lilly broke the kiss to gasp for air.
Lily never thought her first kiss would come this way. She didn't have emotions so she didn't think she be attracted to anyone. So she couldn't get the way the prince kissed and tugged on her lips with much expertise. It was one of the best five minutes of her life and she was sure she wouldn't be able to ever get it out of her head.
Prince Nicholas was mesimerized all over again by the commander. All the anger he had felt towards her had completely vanished. Their sloppy kiss had to be one of the best kids he had ever engaged in and he was attracted to her all over again. The commander The way the commander had let him led the kiss was so awesome and for the first time he felt this was something he was doing better than the commander.
The commander's finger went to her lips, tracing her swollen lips. She want to kiss him again, to have another dose of their passionate spit sharing but she said instead, "you should get going before the sun comes out."
The prince took her hand as she made to leave. "At least get to the borders with me. I want to be with you a little longer."
She thought for a little while before nodding and got on the horse, the price did too sitting behind her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and buried his head in the space between her neck and shoulder. The commander moved closer to him placing her back on his hard chest and letting him protect her. For the first time since baba mbari's death, she felt protected, like someone was going to be there for her and so a grin was etched on her face as they made their way through the woods to the borders.
Then she remembered the meeting with the elders. Her grin faded instantly realizing she was slowly falling in love with her enemy.
