56 - Second Chance
Dear Father,
How do you do? I hope things in the vampire kingdom are going well?
Things in the werewolf kingdom has been going well. I have exciting news to tell you about the hybrids. I have been working on this for a while now and it's with great pleasure I tell you I have made a lot of progress in creating the hybrids.
I have been working on this for a while now and during the heat period the vampires were able to mate with the werewolves.
The werewolf kingdom will like to receive you. I have a whole lot to tell you.
Laura and king Francis send their love. Visit us soon and do write back. We all hope to have you here with us soon.
Love, Nicholas.
Prince Nicholas smiled after going over the letter. It was great news to tell his father about his progress and he was sure the old vampire will be blown away when he told him about the hybrids and his progress in creating them.
He loved his new role as the werewolf king. The power it came it. It was even more powerful that even being the prince. He loved the respect it came with and it had helped in executing all his plans well. The success of the mating had improved his confidence and he was filled with pride knowing that he was close to achieving his goal.
"Come in." Nicholas said after a knock on the door to his study. It was now his study because he was the king and he ran the affiairs of the kingdom.
Gaston walked in. "Your majesty, you sent for me."
Nicholas nodded, folding the letter and putting it in an envelope. "I need to get this letter to my father." The prince stretched the sealed letter to Gaston.
Gaston nodded, collecting the letter. "It will be dispatched right away." He opened his suit jacket and shoved the letter into one of the inner pockets. "Any other thing?"
"Keep an eye for a response from the king, my father." Nicholas told Gaston and he nodded. "What's the situation on the werewolves that were mated with?" Nicholas picked a book from the pile arranged on his desk.
"They're still being observed. Hopefully, there will be news soon."
The prince nodded opening up the book the picked. "You may leave now."
Gaston nodded and exited the study.

"My love." The princess announced when the prince walked into their room.
Nicholas rolled his eyes. He had just gotten into the room after a long day and she was starting to disturb and trouble him. "What do you need, Laura?"
"I need you." She stood from the bed. "you don't spend time with me anymore.," After the mating, the prince had changed towards the princess. He no longer needed her and so he had changed towards her avoiding her.
"I have been busy managing the affiairs of the kingdom."
"You should still make time for me." She brought out in a small voice.
"It hard juggling all the affiairs of the kingdom alone. Your father is little or no help to me so I do it all alone."
"My father didn't bring his blindness upon himself."
"And I didn't bring this," Nicholas pointed between he and Laura, "upon myself."
The princess sighed, running her hand in her hair. She couldn't believe the words coming from her husband's mouth. "We got married because we're in love."
Prince Nicholas scoffed and went into the closet to change his clothes. He came got out and went to bed.
"We need to get prepared for my father's arrival. He will be visiting us soon." He informed her and went to sleep, dreaming about the commander.

---Unknown---
It's morning. The pale blue sky is floating with white clouds, the breeze blowing the leaves beside the road, the birds leaping back and forth on the tree, as if telling people that a new day has begun. The sun is bright, and the sunlight is warm and not harsh. The birds keep chirping, and the breeze is cool. The leaves of the plants are covered from the dew drops
The journey to the vampire kingdom was one of the longest ever and he was thankful that he wasn't attacked by bandits. It was was hard travelling all alone through the dangerous path.
He didn't tell anyone he was leaving the werewolf kingdom. He only left the werewolf kingdom saying he would be back soon.
He made his way into the palace and a guard led him inside. He was to wait outside the study. They had said he was in a meeting and so the maids had asked to wait outside. All he did was go over the conversation in his head. He didn't know how to bring to his master the news and so his heart pounded for what might be his fate.
The prince was smarter than he had thought. His father had made him sound like a delinquent and so he had thought his task was a walk in the park. Every plan he conceived to over throw the prince and make him fail, the prince was always able to rise above it. The prince was even able to get the princess, Laura fall in love with him without even trying.
He stood when he heard the door knob click. Soon, a high commissioner exited the study and he went in.
The king was in his seat, eyes on the papers on his desk and a pen in his hand. He had been signing important documents.
"Good morning, your majesty." He walked in and stood before the king.
"Sit."
He sat before the king and watched as he scribbled on the papers.
"Speak." The king ordered. He was surprised to have him in the vampire kingdom. They had agreed to always see in the werewolf kingdom and having him here was going to risk his plans being blown out.
He parted his mouth to speak but he couldn't get words out. His heart had started to bang harder in his chest. "The... prince... Is..."
The king gave a frown, looking up from the letters he was signing. And for the first time since his visitor walked into his study, they made eye contact. "You don't stutter. Your words are more articulate than this. Anything the matter?"
He was king's Eric's eyes in the werewolf kingdom. Everything he had done, be did it in a bid to satisfy the vampire king or it was either asked of him. And now that things weren't going as planned, it wasn't his fault. He had tried all his best to ensure that king Nicholas of the werewolf kingdom failed but the new king had his plans all mapped out.
"I'm afraid to say, the prince is doing well in the werewolf kingdom." He started, watching the king with scrutiny. "He has marked the female werewolfs and had the vampire males mate with them. Word's going around that he's making an hybrid."
The king was shocked to hear his son had planned something hugh and successful. His son had sent a letter stating his progress in the werewolf kingdom. He was upset to hear Nicholas was ae to device such a plann successful. Why then was his spy over there for?
It had brought an idea to his head into his head and so he wrote back in the letter accepting his son's invitation to the werewolf kingdom. The prince, now king of the werewolf kingdom was excited to receive his father's letter but the new king had no idea what was coming.
Dear Nicholas,
I'm excited to hear of your progress. I feel fulfilled to know that I trained you well and all your other classes and trainings were not in vain.
I am occupied with a lot of activites and duties at the moment in the vampire kingdom and I doubt I would be able to make it anytime soon.
However, I promise to pay a visit soon and put all other task aside just for you and your family.
My regards to your beautiful wife, Laura and my good pal, king Francis. I can't wait to see you and yours.
Your father,
King Eric.
It was a short and simple response to him and the king couldn't wait to be at the werewolf kingdom. This was going to make his plans easier as all the others had be ruined by his incompetent spy.
King Eric had picked him to be his spy because he was the closest to the royal family and that was going to grant him easy access to knowing all that happened in the werewolf kingdom and secret information about the royal family.
"While he planned all these, did you try to stop him?" The king stood from his seat and went to face the closed curtains.
He gulped nervously. "I tried." He managed to croak out. "I tried."
"You tried?" The king flared up, turning around. The king's face was already turning red and he could read the fear etched in his spies face.
"Ye.. yes. I tried to stop him. I tried to stop the marriage. I made the king blind just like you wanted me to. I've done your will since I started to work for you." He added, "I'm loyal, king Eric."
He was loyal but he was useless to the king. The king had his plans ready. He had calculated how he was going to overthrow his son in the werewolf kingdom and take over both kingdoms. It was that simple but his inept spy had runief all his plans. All he asked his spy to do was to ensure his son failed and bring him down from being the werewolf king.
"Give me another chance." He pleaded, "I can make things right. I just need more time." He had tried all his best doing all he can to bring now the prince but it was impossible. It was like Nicholas was one step ahead of him. Now, he was determined to try his best to bring down the prince if he was given another chance.
"You had all the time in the world and yet you failed!" The king yelled making his spiy shiver in his seat.
Balls of sweat arrayed on his forehead. He was shivering in the seat and it felt like his heart was just one pound away from bursting out if his chest. He brought out again, "Just one more chance. I promise to make things right."
The king moved toward him and stopped when he got close to him. "Why should I believe you this time? You failed the last time." The king's hand went to his back, crossing his hands.
"I promise. I swear on my entire existence that j would never fail you again." He pushed the seat careless, causing it to fall. This brought a loud thud. He fell on his face while begging the king.
"One thing I've learnt over the years is never to give people second chances. If they faxed the first time, they will fail again." The king stressed on the word fail.
He went in his knees and held up his hands, his fingers intertwined in a pleading form. "Trust me. Just this time. I beg of you, your majesty."
"I knew you were going to fail." A smile crawled it's way to the king's lips. "It was a big part of the plan."
He got confused, raising an eyebrow.
"I've had this all planned for years." The king chuckled and took out a knife from his pocket. It was a pocket one that had always been in his pocket everywhere he went.
He widened his eyes and before he could speak, king Eric put the knife to his spy's throat, slicing it. He fell face down on the ground, blood filling the fall of the king's study.
