CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Alpha Kane's pov
I could not believe that I had let myself go like that! Forget the fact that I'm not to be exactly held accountable for what had happened with Maggie but then again, I could only blame myself for being so light with my security. I had let the guards of the pack down. Julian had always been a smart kid. He saw the loopholes at first glance and used them against me. I had lose my personal guards too because normally I always get a twinge if something of this nature was going to happen.
That slave girl was useless, she could not even shift into wolf form, except to be submissive and lay like a log of wood, she couldn't perfect shy other jobs properly. She couldn't even give a mind-blogging blow job but yet I kept her. Each slave was given their regular, and very much deserved dose of punishment once in a short while, for them to remember their places and who it was they belonged to. And every slave ended up submissive and reduced to nothing but a crying worshipping mess every time.
Every puny slave except Maggie.
Yes, she did cry and mumble out words due to pain, but somehow she did that with her head held high. It was as if her body was battered and bruised, but her spirit was still holding up strong like she was some kind of queen or an alpha female from another pack in the place.
Just who exactly did that bruised thing think she was?
And one thing I loved was breaking the resolve of other people. I loved it when I made them weak, and when they cried at my feet for mercy, pleading for their lives and the lives of their families, of their children. If worse got to worse, I would end up deleting them from existence permanently. And that only happened when they were still filled with some stupid kind of hope that they could escape and that they would eventually escape.
Usually, the only way out of my wrath was death, and I had provided poison for anyone who wished to end their lives themselves if they did not like the pack or the situation they found themselves in. A few accepted my offer and the rest who did not continue to stay on working for me.?
Then there were the wolves who most probably did not think that there was a way out. But still, they held their heads high regardless of the hopelessness of their pathetic situation.?
Maggie was one of such werewolves. The ones who stood up with their heads held high and who took advantage of any situation she had found herself in. She was also good at playing submissive too, but then afterward, it was all hell. I found it almost impossible to break her, and just as it showed that I was beginning to make progress with her mental breakdown, she had found a way to escape. And the fact that it was not any of my faults was a sort of relief to me, as I had never had a runaway captive or an escaper on my hands before, regardless of how strong they thought they were, or how cunning.
But the reason I had kept Maggie was to pay both her father's debt and of course because an extra whore isn't exactly a bad idea. Not for my prick of a brother to have in his den while they shove down tongue into each other's throat.
There was no escape from slavery at the Brown moss pack, and all the slaves had had to put all that into their heads.
By the virtue of Julian's stunt, I had lost a lot of things that day, including my high pride. And I was going to have to get it back.
Sitting up, I called for a meeting in my office, inviting all of the high-ranking members of the pack. I would attend to the useless set of guards later, for now, I had to think about ways to restore my trampled upon dignity.
I waited for a short while and then, one by one, my office filled with three men including my Zeta, Fiona.
Putting things in order should not be too much of an issue, especially after Zoey and Lilly not only told me but showed me where Maggie was and who it was that had abducted her.?
I had only called the rest for my men, in fact, to think, to analyze, and to talk about ways in which plans could be implemented and maximized to their fullest potential, to both relieve Maggie from Julian's claw and to get back at the bastard but I have a problem. I only have one problem, though.
What do I say to them when they ask how I knew where Maggie was—how I knew it was in fact, Julian was the one that had kidnapped her?
"You had to ruin our night? What happened to nutting off with Maggie?" Arlo asked, sounding irritated. The bulge on his pants was a confirmation that I had ruined the night for him.
"Seriously, dude. What is the rush? Couldn't it have waited until tomorrow morning?" Pax added.
"You can shove your prick in countless pussies or throats when I'm done. I don't care. I wouldn't have sounded so urgent if it wasn't important. Get your head out of your bulges for a second will you?" The bitterness at the tip of my tongue made them focus instead.
"What happened, you looked taunted," Fiona asked.
"More like hunted" Pax chirped in.?
"They both mean the same thing" Fiona protested.
"No, they don't…"?
"Shut the fuck up both of you" I thundered, hitting my fist on the wooden table for better emphasis. "Maggie is missing. She hasn't been seen in the pack for two days now"
"She fled?" Arlo asked, sitting in his seat.
"More like disappeared without a trace" I answered.
"That's good news then. It means I'll have you all to myself 'Fiona said, snaking her fingers up my hand but I made quick work to push them off.
"This isn't a time for sexual interaction Fiona. Aside from being a fling, you are my Zeta. Act like one!"
"Who did you get to know of this?" Pax asked.
"Earlier, when I went to get her, the head maid said she hadn't been seen anywhere around the packhouse for two days. To further confirm her claim, I went in search of her by myself and true to her words, there wasn't any sign of Maggie"
"Dang! How did…what happened?" Arlo asked. "Have you asked around for her?"
"I'm yet to search. First and foremost, I want to inquire from the guards how they will be so stupid as to let someone from the pack disappear while they were on guard. Secondly, I'd pull a trigger on the skull of those that were on guards, and then lastly, I'd conduct my search. Although…." I trailed off, gauging their expression. Arlo arched his brow. He knew I wasn't coming off complete so I spewed the last half part. "Although I feel great on my guts that it was my Julian that kidnapped her"
"How did you know?" Pax asked.
"I don't know for a fact. I think… I suspect him. It has got to be him. And the goddess helps the prick if truly she is in his custody. I swear on our late parent's grave that I'd make him pay ten times as much," I said the last part clutching tightly to my wine glass. All I could see at the time was red and it was only because of my brother. A little lesson that would teach him never to mess with me in his entire life is what I shall teach him.
"So what do you suggest we do?" Pax asked.
"How do we get her back?" Arlo added.
"I don't exactly know why I summoned you here. What do you suggest we do? How do you think we should get her back? 'My last question made a moment of silence ensue between us. Every one of them seemed to be thinking about possible ways to help catch the missing chick and also thinking of the possible hawk that had stolen the chick. While the mother hen knows exactly the hawk that had stolen and nursing her chick, but has to wait because of some flawed out Alpha code that was against the murdering of Alpha's. Having to wait is the hardest thing for me to do at this point. Patience is one great virtue I never had.
"I'd say we search for her within the pack first. Her family could be the one that had taken her for all we know" Fiona said and I swiveled my head in irritation.
"Her uncle? I don't think so. Dolan values his reputation too much to allow a puke like Maggie to ruin all he had labored for. And her brother, Robert? He is too much of a loyal bird to the pack to commit treason and after what happened to his parents, I know for a fact that he would never get involved in treason. Her uncle's wife, Devon? Hell no! That bitch hates her too much to waste her time or energy on her. It is no one from their household I'm sure of?
'I guess you are right then!" Fiona mumbled under her breath.
"I know I'm right. I've always been right" I replied loudly and she scoffed.
"Have you considered the possibility that she wasn't kidnapped? She probably fled, you know? That chick had always had her head held up high regardless of what she had gone through. And we all know how much she hated it here. Maybe she took off on her own and it seemed like she was kidnapped. Those girls are as smart as she is crazy." Pax said with pride. The fool just finished spewing nonsense and he was widening his feathers like a preening Peacock that had just been declared the winner of a beauty pageant. I stood up with my glass of wine still tightly clutched around my fingers and walked to the table and stopped while I was behind Pax's table.
"The girl is smart—true. The girl is crazy —true. She doesn't like it here—true. The girl always has her head held high—very correct. The girl could have orchestrated her own kidnapping —you are very correct. But all those ifs and opinions of yours are stupid as it is baseless and we are done treating ifs and baseless opinions. She hadn't orchestrated her kidnap. My brother, Julian Knox has her in his custody and I asked for ways to get her back. Not some stupid baseless suggestions. You are welcome to speak more reasonably now" I finished with a pat on his shoulder before going back to my seat.
"If you are so sure it's your brother that has taken her, then I'd suggest we send in a spy over to the Green moss pack" Pax suggested skeptically. He probably doesn't want his ego to be bruised when in fact he has said a nice thing. But how…
"The Green moss Pack security is only second to that of the white house, we all know. So if we are sending in a spy, how do we get him in?" Fiona asked, as though she had read my thoughts.
"True! Only, the Green moss pack doesn't have a centralized security base like the White House" Arlo said and stood up from his seat, adjusted the helm of his shirt, and just like me, started sauntering around the table. "Julian is as soft as bread and a sucker for anything that concerns Kane's ill-doing." He stopped to gauge my expression and then continued. "We should send in someone that is brave enough to go directly to Julian, and offer him a truce. He could say, Kane is after his life because he found out some of his evil deeds—he needs a place to stay. Someone to protect him, while he offers this secret of Kane to him. And to further secure a place in the Green moss pack, he or she could be someone that knows how to cook. Nobody rejects a great cook. We just need to find the right person and further analyze and decorate the plan"?
"I knew I wasn't making a mistake when I made you my beta" I smirked while Arlo's face broke into a lop-sided smirk. And a topping to Arlo's idea is something I'd call an appetizer for Julian.
All that being said, I have one problem…
"Who do we send? And how do we get this person?"
