CHAPTER TWENTY NINE
Alpha Julian's pov
To say I was shocked would be an understatement, I was speechless and unable to think or move for a while as I stared at Maggie in her werewolf form when she changed into that perfect beautiful white fur with the gold stripe that slid down her spine lustrously before her fur changed to a brown and black color, and that caused a stir as people found it hard to hide their shock. She was beautiful, captivating and I couldn't help but wonder why the moon goddess had to choose her for me as my mate because she was everything I had always wished for; a strong, feisty, and brave woman that could endure any situation, a woman who knew how to love and care no matter what she's been through and Maggie was all of it. After seeing her white fur when she shifted, I didn't know what to think. I thought and wondered a million things but couldn't get an exact answer to any. It was obvious she was marked as a Luna, a rare one at that. I knew there was a reason why she was my mate, I knew she also had a purpose because she seemed extraordinary and I was going to find it all out.
Everyone was speechless too because we had never seen anything like it; they were gasping and murmuring with astonished looks in their eyes as they stared at her.? She was rare and special. She looked surprised too when she changed back and I guessed she had never had white fur in her werewolf form before… Maybe the moon goddess was protecting her because I knew the blood moon pack's alpha wouldn't think twice before killing her if he found out while she was still there because she would be a threat to their authority and power. I was guessing she was from the Luna breed, or maybe she had their genes… but she never mentioned her parents, so I couldn't be so sure about her bloodline. And I didn't want to freak her out by suddenly asking her too many personal questions. I wanted her to trust me and tell me things because she wanted to not because I asked. I wanted her to be free with me. It was all confusing though and I didn't want to jump to any conclusion about her fur color or her kind of werewolf yet until we were sure about her origin and history and what species of a werewolf she was exactly.
There was a high possibility of her being a Luna werewolf though, but according to history, the particular pack where these special werewolves dwelt and all grew up for many years and generations were destroyed and most of them were killed which led to their extinction. There was a possibility that Kane didn't know what she was or the gift she possessed in her as a Luna breed. If he knew, he wouldn't have let her go so easily. I couldn't help but wonder also; maybe that's why our bond was tighter than the bond of normal-mated werewolves because I couldn't control or help the great pull I always felt towards her all the time she was around me, even when she wasn't. An Alpha and a Luna… perfect! Seeing Maggie in that form and how her fur changed quickly, made me determined to find out more about her.? Who were her parents?
White wolves were the first descent of the werewolves now existing in the world. Most female's female wolves from that region were particularly known as Luna wolves. They were the most powerful and had special gifts apart from morphing, sharp hearing, and mind linking. They were the most feared and most respected when they still existed. They were also the fastest in terms of speed and had a very high sensitivity. With time, they got mixed up with humans which led to different types of werewolves amongst ourselves. There were ranks amongst the white wolves too, from the most powerful to the least powerful; but even the least powerful had more power than a normal werewolf… that's to show how powerful they were. Their weakness was unknown so they were hard to defeat in times of war or conflict, until this strange aliment swept out and destroyed the whole pack of white wolves and Luna wolves respectively, wiping them out for eternity. Until this moment, I believed, or rather it was believed that none of the primordial had escaped that alignment but now I was forced to think again. Rumors had it that only a few were lucky to escape but with time the rumor was declared fake because not even one white wolf was seen ever since then. Seeing Maggie now made me wonder. What was the strange illness that swept the primordial off? Was there a droplet of sickness in the descendants? Was it an ordinary sickness or was it a curse? Was Maggie the only one that survived?? Would it come for my love since she had brought herself out in the open?? No matter what the answer to my question would be, I would always protect her. She was my reason for existence now, same as she was my bane.
Yes! I had only known her for a few weeks but the moon goddess had ordained her my mate and we were all bound as werewolves to follow the moon goddess match and be with the person she's chosen for us, apart from that, I was sure I had deep feelings for her, it was like she woke a part of me when she came into my life. The pull between us though was uncanny, it was like I had known her for years but only met her recently because we connected so fast, we couldn't help it. Now I couldn't go a day without seeing her or touching her or even speaking to her, especially after she was kidnapped by the blood moon pack… it only made me want to see her more because fear of her safety always lurked in my mind. It became more like an activity of mine that must be fulfilled all the time every day. I even once offered to share a bedroom with her but she only laughed it off, saying we deserved a little privacy sometimes.
She could be a white wolf, we would have concluded all that if she had stayed and maintained the white and gold on her fur. All these put together made no sense. Yes she was bigger than the average female werewolves in their wolf form, she had a white and gold shiny fur before she had her fur changed to a brown and black fur but it still gave me no idea of what to think of, was she a Luna or not? I trusted Maggie so I knew she wouldn't hide her identity or the truth about herself from me, she wouldn't lie to me about who she was. I figured she was also going to be wondering who or what she really was at this moment. I hoped Clara was there to lend her a shoulder to lean on, distract her from wandering thoughts that'll stress her, and keep her calm while we did some research.
Ryder came into the study where I sat alone to bask in my thoughts and confusion and sat opposite me then a rather deafening silence stretched on for quite some time between us, none of us knew what to say to each other, the shock from seeing Maggie's fur was still in us both. I could understand… no one had ever seen anything like it before.
"What do you think of Maggie?" Ryder asked me, I sighed and bent my head.
?"I honestly don't know what to think, it's fascinating and scary at the same time" I replied and added "I mean she also doesn't know what she is, she didn't even know she could do that" and Ryder nodded?
"What do we do?" He asked and Clara came in at that moment.
"I say we consult the priest, he always has an answer" she chipped in and took a seat at the far end of the study. We all shared a look; we knew if word got out of our pack, we could be at a risk if she was truly a white wolf Luna because they would all want her.
I put Clara's opinion into consideration and thought it over. It made sense and seemed like the perfect solution to all these doubts and questions that were in people's minds but this wasn't something simple that just happened so I couldn't make any decision on my own, not without the Royal pack's subhead inclusion and approval in our decision making. I nodded at Clara "that makes sense though but I need to call Greyson, he should be here… this involves us all" I replied "yeah that'll do" and she agreed.
"How's she?" I asked out of worry?
"She's good, coping with the whole situation quite well" she replied and I felt relieved a bit, I was still going to check on her later though.
Minutes later, Greyson arrived and sat himself down with Clara and Ryder, ready to rub minds with us. He already knew what happened earlier today so there was no need to brief him "what do we do about Maggie?" He asked the same question Ryder and Clara asked me and I repeated what Clara thought.
"Clara gave an opinion that we consult the priest to know the origin and history of Maggie," I said and he nodded; he seemed like he bought the idea too
?"That's quite good, but I think we also need to research. The priest may have an answer but research and the werewolf history will have a full story of everything that happened years ago and give us a clue about Maggie's origin" he added.
I liked that too. Even if the priest could give us an answer about the gifts of Maggie, her true substance, and everything that concerns her, and let us have a little knowledge of who she was, we still had to perform a deep research on the history of the Luna breed wolves and have an in-depth knowledge of all that has happened to them throughout their existence till they went into extinction from the wide attack. We had to know what or who helped in Maggie's survival and who exactly abandoned her at the gates of the blood moon pack, we also had to know about the things a white wolf could do and the full powers they possessed.
"This is all coming up at the wrong time? How do we tackle this?" Greyson asked, dragging lazy hands on his face. 'How is Maggiel? Is she okay? It's been so long since we spoke or saw each other. I miss her" Greyson said.
'I know man. It's been a long ride coming for you, especially with this new issue in the company."?
'I'm almost rounding up my turn. I can't wait to shift all the work to Ryder." Greyson said and Ryder grumbled.?
'I don't want to work; I just want to train with Maggie every day, watching her fur change like a preening peacock," Ryder whined like a child.?
'What the hell man? How come Ryder is her personal trainer and I'm not?" Greyson asked, darting his eyes around the room.
'That was because you were so busy and we needed to commence her training at the spot" Clara said.?
'Well then, it's a good thing I'd be done with all the legal paperwork tomorrow and hand it over to the administrative head" Greyson paused and cast a mockery look at Ryder. 'Mr., vice president, I think you should get ready to pass on your pack duties to me" he concluded with a smug look.?
'Yeah, whatever. I think you should go be with your woman. If what I heard was right, you all practically forced her to shift which she did… and now the whole area knows about her and, knowing Maggie, that isn't something should be comfortable with" Greyson suggested and the rest nodded or mumbled in approval.
