Chapter twenty four

Maggie's Pov
?I stood at the full-length mirror in my room, wondering how life turned so bad. I couldn't help the emotions running through my heart and settling in my stomach, self-pity.? Surprisingly, I missed him. I missed Julian so much and for each second that passed with his eyes closed, it pissed me and I blamed myself all over again...
I just finished having my bath and standing in front of the mirror, and looking at myself made me miss my mum. "I miss you, Luna," I said to myself in the mirror, seeing her in me. I grew up to be a replica of my mother. We had the same icy blue eyes and long wavy natural brownish-black hair and skin color. Holding the crescent moon pendant she had given me before dying, I closed my eyes and allowed the Cool breeze to carry my wishes to her. I was truly exhausted from all that was happening…I was physically and mentally tired and I needed her to help me.?
My mother was known for her great ability to heal people. She wasn't a Luna or any special wolf but her great abilities made her popular and great. Many had said it was her special powers as the occult primordial descendant but I never knew what that meant even up until this moment. What I knew was that she possessed great healing gifts and I did too. Strangely enough, I also possessed those same abilities that had never worked for me. I tried using it many times before but it wouldn't come up so I forgot about it.?

(Flashback)
"Hey, mother. How are you feeling?" I asked my mother, going over to her bedside table to drop her tea.
"I feel great," she answered, smiling at me. Her face looked tired but there was a glint of trueness in her irises. The blue in her eyes sparked with the shimmers of the sun that flowed through her windows?
'That's amazing mother. I really can't wait to see you back on your feet, healthy and colorful" I chirped merrily until a thought came to my mind. 'Mother, you heal people right?" I continued without her reply. 'Can you not make yourself well?"
Instead of answering, my mother reached out for the little box at the side of her bed and unlocked it. Pushing the old blush-pink blue fairies Tangled from her body, she sat upright her back leaning on the wooden head support of her bed
"Come sit with me on the bed Lea" she gently and softly spoke her breath still labored
Obeying her I climbed into the bed and sat next to her, my legs crossed over each other. Mother pulled out a beautiful steel-crafted half-moon crescent pendant and placed them in my palms, using her hands to cover them.
"This is now yours, Maggie, 'mother said, her hands still on mine. "It used to be your great Mother's. She passed it on to my grandmother, who passed it to my mother. My mother passed it on to me and now I'm giving it to you. It goes around our bloodline and must not stop even after your time. Do you understand me? It must not go outside of our first bloodline do you understand" She asked and I nodded.
"I think it's time to give it to you, it will guide you in times you are confused and help you in times of need. Don't worry about it for now, when it times for you...Taking a pause she continued 'It is said and believed that, every first female of every generation in the family possesses the ability to heal all kinds of ailments whether humanly incarnated or divinely incarnated. And this is the seal to make it happen. Without this, you are like a puny wolf- a wolf who cannot shift or fight; like a warrior on a battlefield without his armor, weapon or ant means of defense. You are a strong wolf without your seal but without this, you are not a healer."
I made a face because I was confused about all she was saying.???
'I am sorry I'm just telling you how. I didn't want to scare you from who you truly are my love." She said and took another pause 'I want you to accept this gift and embrace who you are, no matter what anyone might say about it. No matter what they might call you, Maggie, you are rare and destined to be great and be a light to the world, just like your name implies, you are a bright light and an ointment to lighten the heart of those that are weary. But you won't shine as bright if you don't have your lamp, lighter, and oil… and those things for you, are what is contained here, in this pendant. I want you to also pass this on to your daughter. You are destined to help people, great or small, rich or poor, good or bad, family or not, treat everyone equally and with love. And most importantly, do not use your gift as a means to earn. it is for service to the people.., your people...Do you understand what I am saying" she asked?
Unfortunately, I didn't. That information was too much to take at one time.
"No mother, I don't" I answered truthfully
"I know you don't but with time you will.? just don't try to force things or hold this back ....like the wind just fly according to the direction of the wind and all will be well for you"...

My mouth was agape as I woke from my recollections. Until this moment, I had regarded myself as an embarrassment to my ancestors as I couldn't work in their path but now, I felt the energy pump. Adrenaline surged through me in excessive flows as my mind registered what had seemed to be a puzzle. Something in me was triggered and I felt ready to act. It was like a portal of knowledge was opened for me. I hurried through my routine and dashed over to Julian's room. Greyson, Ryder, and Clara were around him but I zoned them out and settled close to Julian who was deeply asleep. I must have looked really tense because Greyson hurried to my side and placed his hand on my shoulder.
"What is wrong, Maggie?" Greyson asked, looking pensive too.
"Are you okay, Maggie?" Ryder asked.
"Yes. I just need a moment" I said, trying to collect my Chi. I shrugged so that Greyson's hand fell off my shoulder. I shifted the blanket used to drape around his body off and carried his hand, placing his palm on my hand. His hands were so cold and almost lifeless. It was ice cold and hard as a nut. Dismissing the cringe feeling in his body, I went ahead to work my powers with my instincts. Hoping I didn't make a fool of myself.
Maybe I hadn't done something right. Because once again I rubbed my lineage in the mud, so much time had passed after I finished doing whatever on Julian but he still hadn't moved, not to mention his eyelids fluttering open or him trotting around the room. A tiny tear slipped from my eyes but I was quick to school a lot. I suddenly turned around and my friends were looking at me crazily. Almost as if I grew a second head or a wider eye between my two normal ones.?
Sweats of embarrassment trickled down my spine that I almost became a bar of molten chocolate from its hotness. Talk about being embarrassed but still acting cool.
Damn!
'Is everything well with you, Maggie?" Ryder asked again. I chucked down the bile in my throat and answered in a small voice.
'Yes"
'What was that about though?? You had all of us on our very ends" Greyson said, coming closer to my side. He held my hand and gently tugged me closer to him. 'You were trying to revive him weren't you?" I nodded clumsily and he used his palm to direct my head onto his chest. Wrong move because I was trying to contain my tears from falling but when he suddenly did that, a few droplets escaped. And then he went all sweet and gentle with me causing my tears restraining chains to break. 'Don't worry he is going to be fine, okay? Julian is a strong man" he cooed, drawing faint lines on my back.
A fit of provoking belly laughter caused me to peel my face from the crook of Greyson's neck. Again, how did I not see her here? I didn't have to say the words out, Greyson saw my face and read my vexation.?
'She is his friend and a prominent member of his cabinet. I'm sorry we can't help you get rid of her even if that I want to do '' Greyson explained with clear spite of her.?
'Well, little miss future Luna, it is clear as crystal that whatever you know, or rather think you know, isn't working on him. Maybe you aren't as powerful at all" she scoffed and stood up from where she sat on the couch. 'Look I'm sorry and I didn't mean that harshly but that shit is funny as fuck" Clara lamented spewed.?
'It is good that you don't find it funny. But I must warn you. You don't know me Clara and I have taken just the right amount of your mockery. I wasn't bluffing when I said I forgive you and that we could be friends but if you mock me just one more time, then…" I brought my eyes to her exposed arms, neck, and face respectively to see waves of sweets flooding down in various directions. When I locked eyes with her again, she audibly gulped.?
Great!?
'I'm sorry I didn't… I didn't mean that" she stuttered while Greyson and Ryder looked at me unbelievably.?
'I just wanted to set the record right. '' I said to her and patted her shoulders. After I retracted from her, I took my steps backward and resumed my position at Julian's side on the bed. What was I missing I thought in my head.? Definitely, I felt the right energy in me. I knew it was time to once again, lit the flames of the white fur wolf in me but something was keeping it at bay, or was it me?
'Bond. Blood-ties. Enemies. Humans. Divinity" These are the categories of people your abilities work on and for each of them, it requires a different method that would be made known to you as you continue on this sojourn. You must know your mind, accept its leads, and trust in the process. It works differently for me than it did with my mother so it would work differently for you than it did with me but one thing had been sure from all ages past, it is a connection with your mind and to use it you must trust your mind" those were my mother's last words to me.
Finally! The missing piece of my puzzle, I had just got.??
This time, more assuredly than before, I leaned closer to Julian so that the upper part of my body was hovering over his face. I let my pendant touch his heart and dropped a tender kiss on his lips.
'I love you, Julian, '' I whispered as I dragged my body away from his face. The room was tranquil, so quiet you would hear the footsteps of the spirits of one who decided to walk amongst us. My palm was beginning to sweat, giving in to my mixed feelings. Without a single word to anybody in the room, I began to match towards the exit. My hand was on the knob when I heard the tiniest whisper of my name. It was tiny as the wheeze of a second-year-old baby but I heard it loud and clear. Nothing had ever made my heart beat fast except for the voice of that one man, Julian!
