CHAPTER EIGHTEEN?

Greyson's pov
Maggie looked scared but I'd say she looked more terrified than scared. She seemed to be panicking after I told her all that had happened to Julian at the gym while we were training until he fell and went unconscious.
"I really hope he's okay, I'm so scared. I feel like I caused this'' she said while grabbing her fingers and wrinkling them tightly in her grip. She was definitely panicking and I had to do something to calm her down.
I took her hand so she'd stop fidgeting and it made her look at me. She looked like she was about to cry and her eyes were full of so much fear. It was either she was shit scared for Julian or she already cared about him that much. Well, we were only going to figure that out if we succeeded in waking him up.
"Look none of this is your fault, you weren't even there when he fell and blacked out so you shouldn't blame yourself okay," I told her and she reluctantly nodded. I smiled and patted her head then brought her closet and hugged her "Julian will be fine. We called the doctor already and he's on his way here, he's probably on his way to the room already" I said to assure her the more and I felt her heave against me as we still hugged 'thanks Greyson, I'll have faith and stop blaming myself" she said and gave me a forced smile which I took as an improvement. I knew she was having an inner war with herself but at least she was a strong one. She didn't break down, bawling and sobbing like a wreck like most women would do. She still held her ground and patiently waited with me for the doctor.
I was panicking too, big time because I was the one who threw a punch at the Alpha when he fell and went unconscious. It could be a coincidence but Julian was way too young to even have a heart attack. The pack was doing very well, and the subjects were happy so he had literally close to nothing to worry about except going to work every day and having us. His team takes care of other affairs for him so why he suddenly gave out like that was quite shocking and unlike him. I just hoped that the doctor would get here pretty soon and then we would have an idea of what was wrong with him and the reason why he blacked out like that.
"Don't worry El, Julian will be fine okay. He's gone through worse and he survived, he's a strong one okay" Ryder who had been silently standing beside us and was lost in his thoughts said as he placed a hand on Maggie's shoulder and gave her a smile when she looked at him "thank you Ryder" she said and bent her head back in silence. She was back to fidgeting with her fingers again but I didn't try to stop her this time. If that was what would help her calm down, then let her do it.
"Um, can I see Julian? I want to see how he's doing" Maggie asked us and I nodded "yeah you can, he'll be happy to hear that you checked up on him when he wakes up," I told her and she gave me a look that showed she was thankful before she went over to the inner room where Julian laid on the bed motionless and unconscious.
She knelt beside the bed and took his hand then she dragged a long breath in and blew it out before looking at his face that had his eyes closed. "I hope he wakes up" she whispers to herself as she still stared at his face and I watched her from the door while Clara watched her from where she sat "he will, Julian is exceptional," Clara said and Maggie just nodded "I really hope so," she said again and stood up then faced me "thanks for letting me see him," she said and I smiled "it's nothing Maggie, you're free to do whatever you want here," I told her as she moved to the side of the bed and took a seat so she could still watch Julian where he laid.
"He's here, the doctor's here," Ryder said and I felt really relieved as he went to open the door for him and let him in. We exchanged greetings and I explained all that happened at the gym until Julian fell and went unconscious just like that. I shared my worry to the doctor about how I was thinking that maybe it was probably my punch that hurt him and made him black out but I also told him that it wasn't the first time I had punched him hard like that and nothing ever happened to him. The doctor, doctor Noah just nodded as he took down notes and tucked his notepad into his pocket before he faced me "thanks for the information Greyson, I'll take a diagnosis on Alpha Julian now so I'll know what exactly it is that's wrong" the doctor told me and I just nodded as I made way for him to go over to Julian's bed and check on him.
He took his stethoscope out and placed it on his chest as we all held out breaths in the room hoping to hear something good from the doctor after he was done checking his condition. He carried out other tests and when he was done, he packed up his instruments into his bag and faced us. His facial expression didn't look like he carried good news with him but I was ready to hear whatever he had to say. I had to be ready, I was the Beta.
"What's wrong with him, Doctor Noah?" I asked and he shook his head "I have two pieces of news, the good and the bad but I'll start with the bad" he replied and went on to explain to us?
"Your punch didn't cause him to faint, in fact, nothing medical did. I diagnosed him and I saw that it wasn't your punch that caused this' ' he said to me and I blew out a long breath of relief. I wasn't the cause, it was a reason to be happy because I was already getting eaten by my guilt, ok hitting Julian that hard already. If I was told I was the reason why he fainted, I wouldn't forgive myself"
"So doc, what's the bad news?" Ryder asked and the doctor looked sullen?
"The bad news is, I can't wake him and I don't even know the cause of his unconsciousness. It's strange, he's not breathing but his heart still beats, this isn't something medical, I've done my best and this is all I can do" he said and stood up from the chair he sat on while grabbing his bag "I'll be on my way now" he added and with a nod of his head, he left us all speechless as we wondered what was the mysterious cause for Julian's fainting.
"Why don't we call the priest? He'll definitely know what to do'' Ryder offered another idea and it sounded like a really good solution. This time we hoped he would be able to wake Julian up, I was scared for him and our pack. This had never happened before and it had us all on edge.
"We'll call the priest then" I agreed and turned to a guard "call the priest and tell him he's needed by the Alpha immediately. Bring him over yourself, tell him it's really urgent" I ordered and the guard bowed immediately "as you commanded Beta" the guard said and walked off in long fast strides to get the priest.
I walked back into the room and Maggie was by the door "will the priest be here soon?" She asked and I nodded "yeah, he'll be here in no time" I replied to her and walked into the inner room to wait along with the others for the priest.
Minutes later, the priest arrived and he was led to Julian's chamber where he met us waiting for him. I stood up immediately I saw him and waited for him to get to Julian's bed where he would check him. "Good day Greyson, Ryder , Clara and…" he stopped when he got to Maggie because he didn't know her but she quickly replied at him "Maggie" she said and stretched a hand forward for a handshake. The priest, priest Anthony, a man in his mid-forties smiled back at her and took her hand "good day Maggie" he said and his smile widened "ah, the alpha's mate I see" he added with a knowing look as he slowly let go of her hand. Maggie looked surprised as her eyes widened while she quickly held her hand to herself "it's fine, I'm a priest so when I come in contact with people, I can read them. It just happens but I apologize if you weren't comfortable with it" priest Anthony said and Maggie quickly shook her head "no it's fine, I'm okay with it" she said and sat down to let the priest proceed with what he came here for.
He just gave her a small smile before he sat down on the chair that was provided and asked me what happened. I explained it all to him the way I did to Doctor Noah and he just nodded before he looked at Julian who was still lying unconscious on the bed. "I'll have to cast a special spell on him then, to know the cause and I'm sorry but I'll need some privacy please" he said to me
"Okay priest, we'll be outside waiting to hear from you" I told him and led everyone out then I held Maggie's hand as we were both the last to leave and gave her a gentle squeeze "he'll be fine" I told her and let her hand go… I hope he'll be fine too.
I stood close to the door in case anything happened and there would be an emergency. Ryder stood beside Clara opposite the room door in the passage while Maggie sat on the floor, her legs crossed as she still fiddled with her fingers and the hem of her dress. I wished there was something I could do to make her stay calm but we were all fighting the storm of fear inside it while we hoped that Julian would wake up and be fine.
I pressed my ear to the door and the only thing I heard was whispers. Priest Anthony had started the spell… soon I began to hear a little howling in the room like it was getting windy before I caught different voices screeching and whispering in chorus along with the gentle howling of the wind. It was creepy and sounded like a horror movie was taking place inside the room. I felt scared for Julian but priest Anthony was trustworthy, he had worked for the Green moss pack since before Julian's father died, when the pack got divided between the twin brothers, priest Anthony chose to follow Julian and remain as his subject in the Green moss pack while luck left for the Brown moss pack… I could still remember the anger that was in Kane's eyes when priest Anthony chose Julian over him but I didn't feel sorry for him because he had to be good if wanted someone that good to be with him.
I paid more attention to the sounds inside the room after killing the wandering thoughts in my head and I noticed it was all silent now. I guessed he was done with his spells and incantations so I took a step back from the door before I would be caught eavesdropping. Just as I predicted, the door opened and priest Anthony stood there staring at us all while we waited for him to speak. He came out of the room and let out a long sigh before he looked back at us?
"What is it priest Anthony?" Ryder asked impatiently and Clara groaned when he was still taking a while to reply?
"We don't have all day priest, we need to know what's wrong with the alpha" she said and priest Anthony spoke
"The alpha had been spelled by alpha Kane. I tried reversing it and waking him up but it seemed high forces were at work so it didn't work. The only solution is to have the one that cast the spell to revoke it, there's no other way for the alpha to wake" he said and with that, he bowed to us and gave Maggie a nod before leaving.
