Chapter 147
Deacon POV:
I was shocked he actually came, he was willing enough to spring the trap. We both knew what it was and we both knew it was a sly trick on my part to try and goad them into a dangerous situation.
They maneuvered marvelously, calling in the council, going to neutral ground. I couldn’t that anything where I didn’t know and the council were honorable pricks with sticks so far up their asses you could puppeteer them. So he couldn’t bribe them or force their hands with violence.
If I did that they would probably turn to Saint Grayson for defense. I have to go into this as blindly my son and hope to come out on top. It wasn’t right that I was hoping I didn’t like using faith.
My son had moved expertly and on that I commended him. He had struck me where it hurt and now I intended to do the same.
When I arrived, he was waiting there, and I had wondered for a second if he had scored some sort of deal with the council to bring me down. They were not my number-one fans by any means. I have sacred law when I had left my pack and stole their money. I was a disgrace to the name of wolves.
“Are you ready for this to be over?” I jested.
They had set up a small tent with a sign, of the treaty outside of the land with some insignificant little punk.
It was so that there wasn’t any collateral damage when this inevitably went the wrong way. I had no intention of signing and neither did he. We were here to settle a score.
“Are you gonna let it be?” he didn’t even bother with pleasantries first. At least let the game go on a little longer.
“You really are no fun to play with,” I sighed taking off my jacket.
I was going to make sure this hurt the last time he learned a lesson from me, a parting gift.
“Deacon if you do, this, you will be sanctioned,” one of the cronies from the council shriek at me. I rolled my eyes and stepped up to her.
“ speak again, and I break your neck,” I wrapped a hand around her throat and she turned purple.
I shouldn’t let my ire get the better of me, my son took the opportunity that I had given him. A foot landed on my ribs, knocking me to the ground.
“They are not the person you’re here for,” He reminded me.
“Yes but she got in my way,” I sneered and lunged at him.
We both knew this was a desperate attempt on my part, but he had made me desperate. I didn’t like having my money stripped from me. I didn’t like the fact that I was the laughing stock even though I could still bring down half the empires out there.
I know how to spend time in court defending myself for keeping my money. I’m sorry I didn’t wanna hand it over to those lousy ingrates who can’t get their asses and build some. He had made a public too so that I couldn’t privately handle the matter. it was smart and I knew it wasn’t him that little wife of his had her hooks in me and I was gonna take her down.
Slammed a fist into my stomach and it knocked the air out of me and I took my foot and swept him. We toppled to the ground and he kneed me in my ribs. I suspected he was trying to break them and he was getting close.
I slammed an elbow into his knee, trying to get some crunch below it but to no avail. I knew my son spent hours every day learning how to take blows. He shot out and kicked me in the face, he went to try and grab my arm to twist and break so I used his own tactics against him kicking him in the head.
We crawled away from each other, standing up and holding our breaths for a moment before trading punches for a second. I knew I didn’t look pretty at this point and I knew he didn’t either.
Neither of our parties had intervened, but I knew they would. I got too close to killing him so if I had the opportunity I would have to move quickly.
I went to hit him in the face again this time he spun out of my way lightning-fast. He kicked me in the back, bringing me to my knees, and got me in a headlock. I elbowed him in the gut and snapped my head back as best I could.
His nose had started bleeding, I do hope I broke it I went on the offensive and slammed my fist into his face repeatedly as I gripped onto his shirt. I saw on the corner of my eye, his members sneak closer.
He had been holding back though, he extended his claws, and he sliced down my face through my right eye. I still for a moment and went silent. He kicked me again this time I felt the break in my ribs and I fell flat on my back.
He stood over me and and brought his foot over my head ready to smash my skull in.
“Sir you were right,” a woman’s voice stopped him. “There’s been an attack on the Luna,”
My men saw their opportunity and tackled him to the ground. Out of nowhere more men came in that were his, and the council definitely knew he had them stashed in the woods.
I couldn’t tell what was going on around me my eyes blurry. No not blurry gone. I hoped I had done what I needed to buy my men sometime and give them the distraction they needed.
They whisked me away and up into a helicopter and I tried to focus on I’m breathing. I didn’t realize it had gotten so ragged.
Neither of us looked as handsome as we had when the fight started, one thing was for sure he had gotten my looks and he still had them. I hadn’t been able to use any claws after killing my wolf. he knew this and he was still too weak and honorable to do what needed to be done until I had him on the brink of blacking out.
If I had raised him better, he wouldn’t have. He hesitated and sliced me to bits instantly. Instead, he played fair and traded punches with me playing right into my hand.
I had meant it he wasn’t any fun to play with he knew it was a trap, knew I was goading him out of his foxhole. He still came he still sprung my trap. He could’ve sent a representative and I could’ve killed them instantly and that could’ve been easy for him but no, he had to be the fool and do what had to be done.
That’s what I wanted to get him away from her and they feel for it just like they’d done before. I’m sure I even drove some of her brothers to Grayson's side. She should’ve been defenseless, and even then I wasn’t going for her.
I suppose a grandson for an eye was adequate trade.
