Chapter 155

Charlie POV:
My ears were still ringing from the blast, but I pulled James off the ground. He’s been sent flying, but I don’t think he had any scratches on him. I took a moment and looked around for our other siblings. I couldn’t see Theo, I thought I saw Annette, but I wasn’t sure.

I spun around searching for her blond hair I couldn’t find and my heart picked up pace but then I saw her helping others up. She was alright and far away from the blast zone. My brain focused up after I laid eyes on her, just in time as my brain registered a fist coming for my face.

I narrowly dodged it and pushed myself out of the way of whoever was attacking me, stupidly they miscalculated James was still by my side and he grabbed the man and flipped him over dumping him onto the ground on his head knocking him unconscious.

The blast's shock had evaporated and the fighting continued but I saw more than one person from the opposite side hobble off. Those with brains seem to realize they were worth nothing to the lunatic they chose to follow. Another one tried to grab at my brother and I grabbed his wrist and twisted. James came up and slammed down onto the attacker's over-drawn arm. He wailed, flailingly clawing at us aimlessly, I took pity on the fool and slammed my fist into the corner of his jaw knocking him out.

We looked around seeing if anyone around us needed help and what other trouble was coming our way. I scanned and finally, my eyes locked onto a member of my family Theo was going against a rogue I could smell from where I was standing. My blood ran cold. I saw my brother's face purple, bulging and bruised. He was limp in the man's grasp and bloody from relentless strikes.

I began running James moving in sync. Now was the best time to use our secret weapons. I grabbed the dart from my pocket charging the towering fiend who held onto my brother. Simon had done what he could to develop a fast-acting serum to neutralize any threats that were too strong. We’d come into this fully aware of the scum Deacon had scraped off the earth to fight his battles for him, some of which were going to be too lethal for us. This would do what we may not be able to, I was not concerned with an honorable triumph, I was concerned with my brother's life.

My father had been against us using these; he told me they were a pathetic weak way out of a fight. He wanted us to stand with honor, I just wanted Theo to see another day. In the moment, the one where there was life and there was death both calling his name I could give rats ass what my father thought of choices. I would get him through this, not because it was my duty because he was my blood. He had been by my side since I was one year old, and I would let him down now.

I jammed the dart into his assailant's neck and James followed suit into his gut he slowed and wavered d before toppling backwards, dropping Theo. I moved up checking his pulse, weak, and his breathing, shallow and ragged. I checked him over for any open wounds concluding all the damage was done by the behemoth's fists.

“James pick him up, he needs help,” I ordered my brother, his teeth clenched at the sight below us, he nodded, picking Theo up by his legs and we started moving.

A blood-curdling scream pierced the air we looked over Cea standing as she extended her claws and slashed the throat of the man attempting to engage her. She ran towards us her fingertips brushing over her husband's face.

“We need to get him inside and we need someone to help him,” I told her, I was sure she knew already but she was lost in the horrible image in front of her.

“I’ll clear the way you keep going,” She pulled herself together and moved in front of us.

I knew my sister-in-law to have a quick tongue and a short temper. She felt things with her whole heart and she loved my brother with all that she had I knew he was feeling everything he was and I pitied the fodder that attempted to stop us on our way.

She took no prisoner and left none of them living her claws extending and ripping off limbs, opening guts, removing eyeballs, and plowing the oath for us to get inside. I felt a hand on my back as someone tried to pull me away from my family but it lasted merely a second I turned around and there she was.

A single nod was all we shared as Ella took up the rear defending us as we moved into a house. I couldn’t tell you whose it was we set him on the table Ella propped up his head and checked his breathing.

I couldn’t look away as she set about trying to help him but I knew the truth already. His fate was in the goddess’s hands his injuries were internal and right now there was no helping him. I fought the urge to go back outside and kill the bastard that did this.

I felt like it was a horrible dream as Cea grabbed his hand and brushed his hair trying to hold onto him. I couldn’t let him die, he needed help he needed something I could do it.

“His lung is collapsed I need I need supplies,” Ella explained.

“What tell me,”

“It’ll be in the keep that's going to be a pit of chaos,” She looked at me as if she couldn’t bring herself to ask me to go.

I didn’t hesitate James needed no pleading and followed me. I kept my eyes pealed for threats but past the gate the fighting was farther and farther apart. As we drew near the keep my eyes turned towards the path to my sisters house and I saw her standing challenging the man before her Grayson standing behind him.

Annette was frozen I saw the fear grip her for a second. I wanted to call to her to tell her to fight before I could another shadow crossed her face and her wolf was in control. The man let out a sinister cackle that made the hair on my neck stand up.

I kept my focus on the keep we entered the clinic a bloody barrage of bandages and wounds laid out before me. Enemy and friend alike receiving aids Simon swamped in the medical bay.

“I need help,” I told him and he looked up at me, his snark biting in his eyes. “Who is it?” He swallowed the urge to point out the obvious.

“Theo,”

He closed his eyes, shook his head and cursed silently. “What’s wrong?”

“Collapsed lung,”
“Collapsed lung,”

My youngest brother and I answered in the same panicked tone. He went over grabbed the supplies and looked over at the wounded.

“Do you need me?” He asked I could tell he knew he’d go if we asked but I shook my head I had faith in Ella.

We ran back and I looked over my shoulder. The trio was gone whatever had happened with Annette and Grayson was either over or they had moved towards the house.

We got back and Ella set about helping somehow Elizebeth had found us and was aiding her in saving him. I sat beside Cea and held her back as they did the work.

It wasn’t like she was in the right mind to help, and she couldn’t watch this either. I don’t think Theo would forgive me if I let her witness this.

He *would* live. So help me he would live and he would tell me I was a moron for risking my life for him.
