CHAPTER FORTY NINE
LUCIAN
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Use the worm to draw out the fish, it was an old saying, one that proved useful most of the time. That was the reason Brie had been abducted, they saw her as a weakness I had.
Barging inside just like that would give them exactly what they wanted, putting me at a disadvantage, so I waited.
Finding the exact warehouse that Brie was located had taken some time and now it was so hard to be only a few distances away from where she was and yet so far that I couldn't get in. I waited impatiently for my men to give the signal that they had performed the task I assigned to them.
When I had removed Nicholas from the group, that had meant to teach him a lesson, still he made this huge mistake. All I could think about now was several ways to put an end to his miserable life and fuck whatever restriction about not killing blood relatives.
He should have known better.
I would make the rules henceforth. Only I would decide what is or not.
"IT IS DONE."
The three word text appeared on my phone, it meant that my wait was over, the fish would soon swim out of his safe place where they were probably waiting to ambush me.
Setting explosion on all of his personal business warehouses, estates and the rest of his assets would do that just fine.
The seconds were counting in my head. Just like we had planned, Nicholas was charging out of the warehouse, he wore a furious look, barking out orders to his men.
The distraction was all we needed and It was finally time for some action. I gave Devin the signal, he had tagged along despite my objection, I allowed him because I didn't want to waste any more time by arguing, or killing him.
At the count of three, we charged. The first bullet hit the man beside Nicholas neatly on the forehead, silently sending him to the other side of hell.
They started to draw out their weapons, but it was already too late, we had the effect of surprise and taking them unawares to our advantage.
I allowed Devin, Fred, and the rest of our men to take over, I set out in search for Brie after letting them know that Nicholas was strictly mine to deal with, he would die by my hands.
All of the rooms I checked were empty, impatience, anger, and anxiety built up inside of me, threatening to take over. Where the hell was she? Could it be that we made a mistake? That she wasn't here?
I started to storm back outside, wanting to demand about her whereabouts from Nicholas when I heard a faint sound. I slowly started to make my way there, there was a small passage leading to a door that I had not seen the first time.
The sound came again and I instantly recognized Brie's scream. It wouldn't have mattered if death was waiting there, I would have told it to fuck off. I kicked the door until the woods started flying.
The sight before me was enough to set me on the brink of madness.
Hot boiling rage unknown to me swept through my veins, burning through me like sharp torturous bolts of electricity.
I didn't realize when I moved, the red haze of bloodlust taking complete control of my sanity.
He touched her!
He fucking laid his limp prick on what is mine!
The bastard didn't get a chance to react when I pounced on him, hauling him far away from her.
GABRIELLE
Tears of relief and happiness pooled in my eyes the moment my gaze fell on Lucian. I watched as his eyes flicker across my current state, it shifted to Casper who was still pants down. I could read the conclusion in his calculating eyes as a low animalistic growl rumbled from his throat.
"He h..has a gun..." I stuttered, to warn Lucian, but he appeared to have known that. Just as Casper was prepared to shoot, the gun was knocked off his hand, a blow was delivered to his face and the crunching sound of bones breaking echoed in the air and the blood was gushing out of Casper's nostrils.
"How dare you!!" Lucian roared, pushing aside the arm that Casper had meant for his face and delivered another blow, this time to the side of Casper's jaw, forcefully snapping his head to the side. Another violent shove was enough to knock him down to the ground. He clutched his jaw groaning at the pain.
In any other situation, I would have been sickened by the bloodied sight of it all. The primal fury in Lucian's eyes would have scared the crap out of me, but now as I managed to scramble to my feet wincing from the pain the movement caused me, all I wanted to see was for him to finish Casper off.
I wanted to see him die, I guess the saying was right. Everyone had a dark twisted side, it only needs a situation to force it out.
"Go ahead and kill me! Do it, bastard!!" Casper grunted, the blood oozing from his broken nose.
"Die, you will."
Lucian had his gun focused, his eyes were cold with death as he trailed lower and lower, the pain in Casper's features was easily replaced by panic.
"But you will pay for it slowly, especially for touching what is mine!"
Sweat broke across Casper's face, his eyes widened as he started to scramble backward.
"Cousin please don't d..." He barely started when the shot went off, sending blood and chunks of meat flying off. I watched in revolting horror as blood gushed out from the spot Casper's penis was supposed to be.
His scream that filled the air was utmost bone shaken, the sight was enough to make anyone sick.
I couldn't tear my eyes away from Lucian, his grey eyes held a hint of anger mixed with satisfaction.
"This is your last lesson, because you won't live to get any more warnings from me!" He spoke, approaching Lucian who looked almost ready to pass out.
The last bullet penetrated Casper's head, blowing off blood and bits of his brain matter across the room.
I watched in paralyzed horror at the sight, Lucian's eyes shifted in my direction and he hurriedly approached me.
"Are you alright, did he hurt you?" He gritted out between clenched teeth. The horror had me speechless, I couldn't form out the words.
He shook my shoulders violently, jerking me out of my tranquil state.
"I asked you a question! Did he hurt you! Answer me!" His voice was laced with quiet urgency and concern.
I shook my head negatively before a sob broke out from my mouth.
"He didn't, you arrived when he was about to__" I didn't complete the words but he understood.
The second he had his hand on my cheeks, his head slanted to claim my lips in a ravishing kiss.
I whimpered into his mouth, unaware of the fact that my hands were tightly gripping onto him.
His eyes told me what his lips showed me.
His relief.
Need.
Anger, I could feel all of his emotions breaking free from him as he deepened the kiss.
His hands span around my waist and I couldn't avoid a wince. All those areas were still sore to the touch. Perhaps Lucian felt my complaint and he suddenly froze, pulling back a bit, his gaze flickering over mine.
"You said he didn't hurt you!" He hissed, sounding on the verge of panic. I tried to smile, to reassure him that I wasn't as badly hurt as he thought.
"Um...He kicked me a few times, it hurts but I live." I clasped my stomach, I didn't realize what was wrong with my statement until I saw icy dread cloud over Lucian's eyes.
His hands slowly reached to touch my stomach as he whispered the words that sent thousands of knives through my stomach.
"And our baby?" Hope and desperation were heavily laced in his voice, I didn't realize I was crying until I felt something wet against my cheek.
He cared about the baby, and it hurt deep in my chest because I knew I wouldn't have the courage to tell him that "the baby " was something that never existed in the first place.
He would forever believe that the baby was gone from the beatings I receive, I should have felt relief but the only emotion coursing through me was devastation and self-loathe.
