CHAPTER FIFTEEN
DAMIEN
Saturday had finally arrived and I was on my way to pick up Tamara hoping she had done what she was told to do, i called her during the week and she gave me only vague answers which pissed me off, making my week annoying as hell.
I drive into her house and she was already waiting outside the door, her face showing no emotion, she was dressed in a simple black cooperate gown with a little blue belt round her waist and a pair of blue pumps, her coat was hanging over her hand as she watched me step put of the car in my black suit and a pair if black dress shoes, my hair was gelled back as usual.
Her dress was simple but she still managed to look good in the dress, "Hello, Tamara, how was your week" I asked but she just gave me a blank look, before walking over to the car and getting into the passage seat.
I followed behind her, getting into the driver seat, "Listen here Tamara, when I ask you a question, you give me a response, now lets start over" I said as she turned to face me, still showing no emotion, "how was your week".
"Fine" she simply said before turning to face the other side, staring out the window, continuing to ignore me, with a sigh, I started the car and drove off to our destination. She never spared me on glance which made me angry, was she going to ignore me the whole night?
One getting to my family home, I parked my car in the driveway as I turned to face her, she was fixing her hair and smoothing out the nonexistent wrinkle in her dress.
"Listen Tamara, you have to act like you actually love me, because they need to believe we're in love, so you can't keep ignoring me, if this flops I'm taking your family with me" I said as I grabbed on to her hand, but she pulled away quickly glaring at my hands.
"Please refrain from touching me unless it's needed" she said opening the car door and stepping out, I got out of the car also to join her on her side, "what do you mean, unless it's needed, we are young and in love no one expects us to keep our hands of each other" I said with a raised brow staring at her.
"You can tell them, I'm shy, so please keep your hands to yourself and we won't have a problem"
"Why are you being such a prude, it's not like I'm interested in you, you think I also want to touch you, get off your high horse, this is just an agreement, so you have to obey whatever I tell you to do"
"I'm not a dog that has to obey you, I'm a human being so Mr Kingston treat me like one" Tamara scoffed as she began to walk towards the entrance, I stopped her by grabbing unto her hand, "i'm not done talking, so don't walk away from me"
"Kindly talk your hands off me,since you know so much about me, you would know that I don't like being touched by strangers," Tamara glared at me dragging her hand from my hold further fuelling my anger, she is really testing my last nerve, why can't she just obey me like every other person.
"Let's get this dinner over with, we both don't want to be here, so the sooner we go in, the sooner we leave, Mr Kingston"
"You are right, I will drop this but we aren't done talking, and call me Damien when we are in there, it will look weird if you call me Mr Kingston"
"Noted"
We both walked to the entrance of the house, I knocked on the door and one of the maid came to open the door. She greeted us with a smile " welcome Mr Kingston and Ma, the family is already seated in the dining room" the maid said taking our coat.
Tamara returned the maid smile Thanking her before she joined me, "you know you don't have to thank her, it's her job"
"Whether or not it's her job, it's polite to say thank you to everyone even if they're below you" Tamara said in a matter of fact tone. After hanging our coat the maid guided us to the dinning room where everyone was seated.
They all turned to face us when we walked in, Grandfather and Mother's gaze went to Tamara instantly, I walked over to my mother giving her a kiss on the cheek, "Hello mother, how are you feeling today"
"Better, who is the young lady Damien introduced us" my mother said out loud as everyone who was seated turned to face me. "Where are my manners, everyone this is Tamara Sanders and she is my Fiancée" I said as shock, anger and amusement showed on everyone's face.
"Hello everyone, it's a pleasure to meet you all" Tamara said, smiling softly.
"Why are we just hearing of her now, when grandfather gave you an ultimatum?" Daniel asked as everyone turned to face him.
"How does that concern you Daniel " I asked trying to keep my anger in check, "I too would like to know Damien, why did she just pop up now" grandfather added.
"That would be my fault"
"Why is that" grandfather questioned
"I told Damien, to keep our relationship a secret, if everyone knew about our relationship the paparazzi would have a field day so that's why I told him to keep it a secret"
" I see, how long have you been engaged for? ''grandfather continued asking Tamara questions, I knew what he was doing, he was trying to overwhelm her, hoping she would slip.
"A year now, Sir, I wanted to have a winter wedding but, Damien would be busy so we decided to have it next month so we can get it out of the way"
"Don't you want a big wedding" Mother asked
"I don't mind, so far I get to spend the rest of my life with the man I love, I'm okay with anything" Tamara answered shyly tucking a piece of hair that had fallen across her face being her ear.
"Damien has been seen with different women, doesn't that bother you" Daniel asked.
"Not really, we talked about it and he assured me they were all business associates of his, and I trust him, he would never lie to me" Tamara replied Daniel with a raised brow.
"Isn't that naive of you to trust him that blindly" Daniel added
"You might see it as naive but I see it as love, and if you love someone you have to trust them blindly" Tamara said with a smile across her face as she stared at me In awe, anyone else would have thought she actually loved me, with the way she was staring at me.
"Damien take her to her seat, the poor girl as been standing there" Mother said drawing me out of my thoughts
"I'm sorry, love"
"It's okay Damien," Tamara said as I guided her to her seat, I pulled out the chair for her, she took her seat and I pushed her in gently before taking the empty seat beside her.
"Tamara what do you do" grandfather asked
"I work for my father's company as a secretary"
"A secretary seriously, I now know why you wanted to keep your relationship a secret, a Kingston dating a secretary that is newsworthy, what a joke" Daniel grinned receiving a glare from me, doesn't this guy ever shut up.
"Hmm, a secretary, what did you study?" grandfather asked.
"Aren't this questions irrelevant" I said
"it okay Damien, they are just worried about you, they want to know if I'm good enough, I don't blame them"
"Hmm" grandfather hummed as she just continued to stare at Tamara like he was trying to figure her out.
"I studied business and fashion designing, I have my masters in both" Tamara answered
"But you look so young, how old are you honey?" Mother asked as Tamara turned to her with a smile.
"I'm twenty-two, Ma," Tamara answered.
"That's excellent but why are you working as a secretary, you could get any job with your degree in business" grandfather asked
"I might sound silly but I want to gain experience before venturing into the business word, you see sir I want to open a chain of boutiques all over the World"
"That's a big dream, young lady, getting the capital to do that would be hard and not to talk of getting designer's to work with you"
"I would be selling my own designs sir, I love creating clothes that's why I studied fashion designing along with my business degree"
"It's good to be ambitious, young lady, I can see you going places"
"Thank you sir, it means alot to me that you said that"
"I was just saying the truth, no need to thank me young lady, I'm happy to have such a lady beside my grandson, I just hope he doesn't screw it up" grandfather said as Tamara laughed at my grandfather's attempt for a joke.
Things were going better than I expected, "Hello everyone" a very familiar voice said as I turned to see my father standing in the doorway, with his second wife by his side, I turned to my mother and her face was paled.
"WHAT IS HE DOING HERE!" I growled, turning to face my grandfather.
