CHAPTER FIFTY-FOUR

TAMARA

I knew he was an asshole but this was just pathetic of him. How could he blame me for stealing from the company without any evidence? I really don't know what would've made him think that I could be a suspect. It's not like I've ever stolen from him before and I've never never asked him for money.

So what the fuck was he thinking to blame me? I paced back and forth in the reception as I waited for Alex to come down from the boardroom.

I shouldn't have left him alone with that asshole but I couldn't stand behind in the same room as that bastard after he accused me of stealing.

The elevator door opened up and Alex emerged from it, his gaze searching frantically for me

"Alex over here" I called out and his gaze fell on me, I saw the relief wash over his face as he walked towards me.

"Do you know how long I searched for you after that jerk left? If you hadn't sent that text, I wouldn't have known where you were, and I would've kept looking," Alex said, concern evident in his voice.

I didn't mean to make him worry about me but I was just so angry that I wasn't thinking straight 

"I'm sorry, Alex, I wasn't thinking" I whispered under my breathe

"Why are you apologizing? You didn't do anything wrong, you were right walking away from that jerk, he had no right to talk to you that way, I still want to beat is ass but that won't get us anywhere"

"I know but doesn't stop me from doing it in my head" I said causing Alex to laugh out loud

"What do you want to do now," Alex asked as he stared at me

"I'm not sure, but I really don't want to return to his place. If I do, I'm afraid I might lose control and end up hurting him, which could land me in jail."

"We can't have that, i will take you anywhere you want to go just tell me the place" Alex asked, his concerned gaze focused on me

"The foundation will be best, he doesn't know about it" I replied 

"Alright, but as much as I'd love to stay, I can't. I have some matters to attend to at the office," Alex explained.

"Well, the kids will be disappointed," I remarked.

"I know, please, don't remind me," Alex groaned as we made our way to the car. A few minutes later, we left the company and headed toward the foundation.

As we arrived at the foundation, Alex dropped me off and waved me goodbye as he drove off, Tommy waa the first person i saw at the entrance. On spotting me he ran towards me and engulfed me in a big hug before he pulled away and dragged me into the foundation without saying a word.

"Hi everyone, look who's back" Tommy yelled and everyone immediately turned around to see what he was talking about, when the kid's gaze fell on me, their eyes lit up like Christmas lights as they all stood up and ran towards me engulfed in a big hug.

After a few minutes they pulled away and I got questions from different directions, so I spent an hour telling the kids I was too busy with the wedding and honeymoon to come over.

They weren't too happy so I had to bribe them with ice cream to appease their anger but it was worth it so they won't be mad at me anymore.

After I managed to slip away from the kids, I found Tommy grinning from ear to ear at the break room.

"I'm going to punch you in the face"

"Why so aggressive? you deserved it for leaving you little subjects hanging, be thankful they love you so much"

"I hate you"

"You love me, stop lying to yourself pumpkin" Tommy said as he pulled me in for a peck on the cheek as I struggled to get away from him laughing.

But then Tatiana came out of the office a smile on her face as she approached me with something in her hand

"Hello Tamara, this came for you. It's from the benefactor of the foundation," Tatiana said, handing me the letter as she placed a kiss on my cheek, "glad to see you're doing well darling.

"It is not time to pay for expenses, so what is the letter for?" I wondered as I stared at the letter, what could be in the letter?

"Maybe he or she has something to tell you" Tommy said as he stared at the letter but suddenly we heard Emily call out Tommy’s name.

"Duty calls, you can tell us what it says after, come on Tatiana, those little munchkins need us" Tommy said as he dragged Tatiana out of the room leaving me alone to read the letter.

My heart skipped a beat as I stared at the letter. What could the benefactor want to say to me? I thought as I tore open the letter and began to read.


"Dear Tamara,


I have been following your work at the foundation for some time now, and I am impressed with your dedication and commitment to helping others. I would like to meet with you in person to reveal why I've been funding your foundation. 

Please come to the cafe at the bottom of the letter by 2 pm on Friday. I will be waiting.

Your benefactor"


After thirty minutes had passed i was still staring at the letter in shock, i was finally going to meet the person who has been keeping this place open ever since my mother dead and I didn't know what to say or do

When Tommy walked in and noticed the look on my face, he rushed to my side and asked, "Is everything okay, Tamara?"

I took a deep breath and replied, " the benefactor wants to meet me on Friday to tell me why he or she as been funding this foundation"

"Isn't that a good thing, you have always wanted to meet the benefactor ever since the letters started showing up"

"Yes but for some reason I'm nervous to meet this person"

Tommy nodded sympathetically. "I can understand why you're nervous. But you're a strong, capable woman, Tamara. I'm sure you can handle whatever the person wants to tell you."

"Okay I will go" 

"That's the spirit" Tommy said as he pulled me in for a hug in which I returned.

"You know I love to see you but what made you come in today? And why didn't Alex stop by to see the kids after dropping you off? Is something wrong?" Tommy asked his gaze curious as he stared at me, I was hoping he didn't catch up but he is just too smart to the point it becomes annoying sometimes 

"Urgh" I said letting out a soft sigh as my gaze met his

"So it started like this" I said before I told him everything that happened from the beginning of the meeting to the end and how he blatantly accused me of stealing without any evidence.

"That motherfucker!" Tommy cursed anger evident in his tone and eyes as he stared at me

"I couldn't stand going back to his house so that's why I'm here and it's not that I wouldn't have come even if this didn't happen, I waa just looking for the right time"

"You don't have to explain yourself to me Tamara so where will you be staying tonight, because I know you don't want to go home tonight as well"

"I will just stay here, I have a place to shower and I have some spare clothes to change into for work tomorrow"

"You know you can come stay with me tight? Instead of sleeping on that uncomfortable couch"

"I know but if he comes looking for me, you and Alex will be the first people he will go to and I don't want to make any of you go through a confrontation with him for my sake"

"He doesn't deserve you, I really want to kill that bastard for disrespecting you"

"Get in line" I said with a smile but Tommy still looked like he wanted to go after Mr Kingston, "I'm really okay Tommy, he isn't worth you getting worked over"

"I know but it kills me everyday to see you smile less everyday, before you where married to him, you always smiled even when your family treated you like shit"

"It's only a matter of time before we get a divorce, so I would be free of him and get to live my life"

"I can't wait" Tommy saud as he pulled me into a hug and placed a kiss on my temple before pulling away then we heard Tony knock on the door followed by the kids yelling my name, "Mrs Tamara, Mrs Tamara, Mrs Tamara" 

"I'm coming to play with you guys now" I said and they all squealed loudly before running off to the playroom

"Duty calls" Tommy said, making me laugh out loud as we both worked out of the room to hold and play with the kids.

I played with them until their parents came to pick them up. They were all sad but I promised them they would get to see me again next week, which cheered them up a bit.

Tatiana and the rest wanted to help me clean up but I told them it was okay and I need to do it to help me clear my head, they were reluctant but eventually agreed and went home.

Tommy waa the last to leave and that was because I threatened to call his girlfriend on him. After he left I locked all the doors and went to take a shower and change into a new pair of clothes.

While I was getting something to eat, I got a text from Alex saying one of his friends would be coming to stay with me for the night because he was too busy to come himself.

Then I heard a knock on the door, maybe he was already here, I wondered who he sent to watch over me. I opened the door and standing in front of me was the one person I have been wanting to see for a while now.

"Shane"

"Hi little firefly" Shane greeted with the cutest smile and it made all my worries fade away.
