CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

DAMIEN

"I'm waiting for your answer Damien, did you tell Tamara to move in with you?" grandfather asked and my gaze went straight to Tamara, who was avoiding my gaze, which made me suspect that she had something to do with my grandfather knowing, I knew she was against moving in but I didn't expect her to go running to my grandfather.
I sighed running my hands through my hair in frustration, must she always have to go against me. Why can't she just behave properly? And act like I wanted her too, she always finds a way to push my button and make me angry.
"Yes father I did tell Tamara to move in with me, she is my fiancée afterall and the wedding is just right around the corner so I don't see the big deal" I answered and my grandfather gave me a sceptical look his eyebrow creased, "Okay! I know it's a tradition In our family that the groom and bride don't live together until they are married but for goodness sake grandfather this is the 21st century, no one follows tradition anymore".
"I'm really disappointed in you Damien, for someone who is so bent on following the rules you didn't mind breaking this one because it was in your favour," my grandfather said as he crossed his arms on his chest as he stared at me disappointment evident in his eyes.
"But grandfather-" I argued trying to get him to see my point of veiw but it was quite hard to change my grandfather’s mind when he had his mind set on something but I can't let Tamara think she could manipulate my grandfather to get her way, "Grandfather-"
"I don't want to hear anymore of your excuses Damien, she is not moving in with you until after the wedding and that is final Damien, do not fight me on this" my grandfather said with this look in his eyes telling me to go against him and I would surely suffer the consequences.
He then turned to face Tamara who was in a world of are own as she ate the final piece of her cake, "I apologise Tamara for my grandson's lack of self control, you see in our family we have a tradition where the bride and groom are not allowed to live together until they are married, we are not against visiting or spending the night but living together when you're yet to be married is frowned upon" my grandfather explained and Tamara’s gaze never left his face while he was explaining.
"Oh I see, but why is that? Mr. Zane" Tamara asked
"I really don't know Tamara, it's what my father and his father did, so who am I to go against it or allow my grandson go against it, I'm sure they had their reasons for making such rule" my grandfather said.
"Oh, I see but how did you find out?, Damien didn't really advertise me moving in to everyone'' Tamara asked and my gaze immediately went to hers, her question surprised me wasn't she the one that told him?
"I wouldn't have blamed you because you didn't know our tradition but Damien on the other hand would have been on the receiving end but I'm happy Daniel told me before you actually moved in because it would've caused quite a problem later" my grandfather said his lips pressing together, and his eyes narrowed at me reflecting his annoyance.
So it wasn't Tamara but that idiot Daniel's fault I was in this mess with my grandfather, but how the fuck did he know that I told Tamara to move in with me? After I'm done here I will get my people to investigate, he really shouldn't have gone behind my back and snitched on me, I'm going enjoy making that asshole pay..
"Grandfather, I would like to apologise, I shouldn't have suggested the move I'm the first place" I apologise see no other way to appease my grandfather’s anger, everything else will be sorted out later.
"You are young its expected for you to make mistakes byt next time use your head" my grandfather said giving me one last glance before he turned to Tamara at least he wasn't as angry as before.
"With that aside, i should let you guys be getting back to work, I've kept you long enough Tamara" my grandfather said as he stood to his feet dropping the towel in his hands on the table.
"Its really not a problem, I'm sure my father would understand Mr. Zane, I really had fun having lunch with you and I hope we are able to spend more time together like this in future" Tamara said with a large grin on her face.
"You're such a sweetheart my dear but this old body doesn't move quite as well as before, you see back in the days I was one of the best runners for the national track team in Newyork" my grandfather said looking smug atvhis achievement, my grandfather is and was a very proud man so he enjoyed milking people for compliments any chance he got.
"That's wonderful Mr Zane, i didn't know that, I'm sure you were pretty great back then" Tamara said giving my grandfather a wide smile causing him look down and away from her gaze, was my grandfather embrassed that she complimented him? His odd behaviour around Tamara was really weird to witness because he was only like this around my late grandmother, a familar voice called out draw him out of my thoughts.
"Mi amico, where you going to leave without saying goodbye?" Mr Sergio questioned his gaze was focused on my grandfather who blantly ignored him.
"Go away Sergio" my grandfather mumbled but it was still loud enough for us to hear.
"Don't be a sour pus mi amico, you know you love my company" Mr Sergio grinned widely causing my grandfather’s frown to deepen.
"You wish Sergio, now that you have see us you can leave" my grandfather said letting out an exasperated sigh, no matter how much he fakes his annoyance around Mr Sergio, I know he loved the man like his own brother.
"Grinch, I wasn't even here for you in the first place so move to the side, I'm here to day goodbye to my muse Miss Sanders" Mr Sergio said as took a large bag from the waiter beside him and handed it over to Tamara who was staring at it with a fixed gaze.
"What's in it Mr Sergio" Tamara asked as she took the bag from his hands
"Take a look, im sure you will love my little gift" Mr Sergio urged her and Tamara complied opening the bag and a wide grin appeared on her face as she looked up at him.
"Thank you so much Mr Sergio, I'm going to treasure this but how did you know I loved it"
"I have eyes and ears everywhere Miss Sanders and I hope you enjoy it as much as I loved making it" Mr Sergio said smiling softly at Tamara
"I will Mr Sergio thank you" Tamara thank him returning his smile, her hold tightening on the bag.
"What did he give you Tamara" my grandfather asked curious as to what made Tamara so fucking cheerful
"It's the chocolate cake we ate for dessert, he gave me my own personal one, you see Mr Zane i really love chocolate so this is the best gift ever" Tamara said grinning from ear to ear as she stared at the bag with the cake, what the heck it is just cake why is she so happy.
"Womaniser" my grandfather muttered
"Sour pus" Mr Sergio muttered back as he moved his gaze back to Tamara, "it was a pleasure having you here and I hope you come back soon Miss Sanders" Mr Sergio said taking Tamara by the hand and placing a quick kiss on the back of her palm causing Tamara to blush.
"Come on let's go before he gets other ideas" my grandfather said as we walked towards the entrance of the restaurant, after saying his last goodbye Mr Sergio left to attended to other things not before annoying my grandfather again by calling him sour pus.
Once we reach the parking lot I guided my grandfather into his car but before closing the door he looked up at Tamara giving her a small smile, "take care of yourself dear"
"And you too Mr Zane, we might not be able to see each other till the engagement party but I had an excellent lunch Sir"
"You flatter me Tamara, see you at the engagement party, you will make a beautiful bride" with that said my grandfather closed the door and his driver drove off leaving Tamara and I standing in the packing lot.
By the time I turned to face her she was on the phone talking to an uber driver, "I could have dropped you off" I offered not because i cared but because we had a lot to talk about.
"There is no need for you to go out of your way Mr Kingston, your grandfather his gone so you can drop the act" Tamara scoffed as she started heading towards the side of the road to wait for her ride.
"Stop right there Tamara, we need to talk about Daniel finding out about you moving in" I urged but her uber ride had already arrived.
"That's not my problem, it's yours so if you would please excuse me my ride is here" Tamara said as she got into the car when she closed the door she told the driver to go leaving me standing there like a fool.
I got into my car boiling with rage, that insufferable woman, who does she think she is. She makes me want to pull my hair our, how annoying could just one woman be? Once I got to the office I went straight to security and asked for the footage leading to my office the day Tamara ran off. I started watching the video after sending everyone out of the room, as it played on the part where Tamara walked into my office came on and twenty minutes later Daniel walked up to my door but he didn't knock nor try to walk in, he just stood there then after he few minutes the fucker smiled and walked off, The idiot was eavesdropping that's how he found out but how much did he hear that day, how much did he tell grandfather? If he knew about our contract he would have told grandfather already, I already had a lot to deal with now this comes in.
