Chapter 56 - Love and ice cream

With a new, better defense plan in place, things between Lena and Alaric seemed to get better. Lena even admitted that she was intrigued by what she found on the internet as she and Rebecca spent more time doing research. Lena did, however, reiterate that some of those spells were pretty dangerous, at which Alaric laughed.

“You said the same thing about my mother’s old library!” He poured each of them a drink before joining Lena on the couch. Lena frowned at him and he had to admit that she was right on that one. There were spells in that library that would make the toughest warriors' hair stand up straight!

“Where do you think my mother got them from?” Alaric had been wondering about it ever since Lena first told him. He knew how Rebecca hid them from the Councillor when he was there to inspect the library, but he never figured out how his mother got her hands on those kinds of spells. There was so much about his mother he didn’t understand. How she hid the fact that she wasn’t a wolf, for instance, was one of the most important questions of all.

“Probably from her parents or grandparents.” Lena shrugged and reminded Alaric how their spells are handed down from generation to generation. “Whatever I gather in my lifetime will be handed down to Rebecca and Ben and their children.” Alaric had no idea how he felt about that. The pack had grown used to having Lena and Rebecca mumbling in a strange language, but he wasn’t so sure how they would feel about their future alpha doing it one day.

Thankfully, that day was still a way away and he could figure it all out in time. He asked Lena what she knew about his mother and they talked for a little while before he finally got up and sighed. He was so damn tired that he could hardly keep his eyes open, but his wolf couldn’t stop putting all sorts of naughty ideas in his head. He held out his hand to Lena and she smiled when she took it.

“Time for bed, woman!” He joked as she pulled back just a little.

“No!” Her eyes were filled with mischief as she said it and her body was saying a clear yes as it instantly responded to his touch. He loved it! He studied her for a moment before picking up his squealing mate and throwing her over his shoulder. Smacking her bottom for effect, Alaric marched out of his office.

“Good evening.” He grinned at the pack members passing them in the passage before putting Lena down in their room.

“ALARIC!” She smacked his arm and he pretended to flinch. “What are the people going to think?!” She sounded utterly shocked but he simply grinned at her before pulling her into his arms.

“They are going to think that I’m madly in love with my mate.” His hands slipped down her back and he could feel the shiver running down her entire body. Lena’s hunger flashed through her as she looked into his eyes and saw it reflecting back at her. How could she have left this man so damn easily?! She wasted so much time! His lips crushed hers and all thoughts flew out of her mind as he walked them back to their bed. Unceremoniously dropping her on the bed, he quickly pulled his shirt over his head and dropped down on top of her.

Lena loved the fact that he was so much warmer than she was and her hands slipped over his toned upper arms. His kisses burned her skin, but she loved them as they melted into each other and his hands explored her body. He stripped her clothes so fast that she was still in a trance when he lowered his weight back down onto her body. He was tanned and gorgeous compared to her milky skin.

He was strong and toned compared to her mother body and she felt slightly self-conscious for a moment until she realized again, that he had chosen her. He was hers and only hers and he hadn’t given her any reason to ever doubt that. Even while they were apart. According to Rebecca, the poor guy was absolutely miserable without Lena, and she loved him even more for it.

His hands slipped down her side and between her legs and she gasped as he entered her. She thought about telling him she wanted another child only for a second when she was completely wrapped up in their passion.

They were curled up together under the blankets when their bedroom door bashed open, making them both jump!

“MOMMY!” Ben squealed and his parents looked at him with confusion and amusement.

“Why aren’t you in bed, little man?” Alaric laughed while Lena fought to cover herself with the sheet. Ben had grown used to his dad walking about naked because he was a wolf, but he wasn’t used to his mother being naked at all! Alaric got out of bed and grabbed a pair of trunks to put on while Ben watched him intently.

“I’m not tired.” Ben shrugged. “My tummy asked for cream ice.” He sighed, making his parents laugh before Alaric picked him up and winked at Lena.

“Well, then I guess we have to get your tummy some ice cream so it can go to sleep.” Lena was about to protest when the two disappeared. She sighed and slipped out of bed, grabbing her robe on the way. A couple of minutes later, the boys returned with ice cream for all of them and they sat down on the bed. Alaric switched on the television in the hopes that it would lull Ben back to sleep and they cuddled up to watch a movie.

When the movie ended, they took Ben back to his room and as soon as they closed the door, Lena glared at Alaric. Not even his gorgeous smile was going to get him out of this one!

“Why did you give him ice cream?!” She glared at Alaric for a moment before walking away.

“Because his tummy needed it.” Alaric shrugged. “Didn’t you hear him? There was no way he could possibly sleep while his tummy was begging for cream ice.” Alaric grinned at her when she stopped to glare at him again, and she couldn’t pretend to be angry with him any longer. Lena stood on her tiptoes and put her arms around Alaric’s neck. His arms circled around her waist as he pulled her closer.

“I want another baby.” That wasn’t exactly what she planned on saying, but she was glad when the words were finally out. She’d been meaning to speak to Alaric about it for a couple of days now, but it never seemed to be the right time.

“Are you serious?” She couldn’t tell if he was happy or not until she nodded and he shouted and twirled her around in the air.

“We’re going to have a baby!!!” Alaric whooped and Lena had her hands full in getting him to be quiet!

“Not yet, dammit! We still have to make one, and you are going to wake the whole house!” She tried to whisper, but it was difficult to keep calm under those circumstances. She had no idea why she expected him to say no.

“Then we had better get started right away!” Alaric promptly put her down and grabbed her hand, dragging her back to their room. She whooped when he pulled her gown off and threw her on the bed. She didn’t care when she fell pregnant. She was just so damn happy that he also wanted another child. She couldn’t help but wonder how things would be this time around.

Alaric and Rebecca would be there, of course, but would she feel so sick again? At least, she would be near people when she gave birth. She would have a doctor there if anything went wrong. There were so many advantages and she couldn’t even fathom how she did it all on her own the first time. They made love until the morning hours and sneaked out of their room to grab more ice cream.

“Ice cream’s not breakfast!” Lena’s eyes grew wide at the sound of her son’s voice. They hadn’t even realized what time it was and as she turned around, she found a small boy with his hands on his hips glaring at her. She told him exactly that just the day before when he wanted ice cream for breakfast and now, he caught both his parents having it! She burst out into fits of giggles as Alaric shrugged and asked the omega to bring Ben some ice cream.

Lena had never been this happy in her entire life. Not even on the day she got her powers. She felt blessed beyond belief and loved more than anyone she ever knew. Her small family meant everything to her and soon they would be adding another member to the group.
