Chapter 73 - The end
A COUPLE OF YEARS DOWN THE LINE, the entire pack gathered in the clearing outside the pack house to celebrate the birthday of the youngest of the four alpha children. The twins had been up most of the night because they were just too excited to sleep.
The two girls looked almost like carbon copies of their mother, but they had their father’s temperament. Everyone in the pack loved them dearly and looked forward to their annual birthday party. Although the other siblings also had parties, the twin’s birthday was very special. They were born on their grandfather’s birthday and, of course, the pack believed that it meant they had a great destiny ahead of them.
Ben still had two years to go before he turned sixteen, which was driving him insane, since he couldn’t wait to find out if he had a wolf or not. He adored his father, and Lena was grateful that Alaric found them all those years ago. Now that they were all together, she couldn’t imagine her life without Alaric. Rebecca met a mate who was an alpha from the neighboring pack and they were expecting their first child. Life was really good and filled with love and laughter.
Lena stood watching the children play while the pack laughed and celebrated when Alaric’s arms circled her waist.
“I think we should have another one.” She could feel his smile when his lips touched her neck and she burst out laughing.
“Four is enough!” She laughed as she leaned into his embrace.
“Four isn’t nearly enough. I want an entire brood of babies.” He joked some more and she turned around in his embrace, putting her arms around his neck.
“Four is a brood. That’s enough! Besides, Rebecca is having one which will remind you how tough it is when they are babies.” Lena squinted at her mate, whose eyes were filled with mischief. He picked her up and she squealed with joy as he swung her around.
“Four is not a brood!” He laughed before he stopped and put her down. “And Rebecca’s won’t be living with us. I want one living in our home. A little you or me.” Lena laughed at the mere thought and she dragged him over to some of the male pack members. If she could distract him with a hunting trip or anything else, she would be happy.
Lena loved her mate and she loved her children, but she felt that they had more than enough! Their lives were perfect and she didn’t want to change any of it.
