Chapter 65: The Journey Back

Meanwhile, Jack was struggling with his mission—to bring down all the laboratories of the Conde family. His target was to acquire the secrets behind their undiscovered medicines, particularly in the field of pharmaceutical laboratories. However, entering the Conde family’s territory proved to be far more difficult than he anticipated.

As Jack observed from a distance, he saw the towering walls surrounding the Conde family compound. Every corner was guarded by armed sentries, and every pathway was monitored by high-tech surveillance cameras. His technology was quickly detected, making it impossible for him to get close without revealing his location.

"This place is tough to infiltrate," Jack muttered to himself as he continued to search for a way in. "Their security measures are far beyond what I expected."
He tried hacking into their security system, but all his attempts were futile. The Conde family’s firewall was impenetrable, and every time he tried to access their system, it was immediately countered by their advanced defense mechanisms.

"Damn it," Jack cursed, trying to keep his frustration in check. "If I can’t get in digitally, I’ll have to find another way."
Jack decided to survey the area from a higher vantage point, using his night-vision binoculars. He could see the various buildings within the compound—the laboratories, the main mansion, and other structures that seemed out of the ordinary. But despite his careful observation, he had the uneasy feeling that he wasn’t alone. It was as if someone was watching him, no matter how discreet his movements were.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Angelic received a call from her father. Over the phone, she heard his voice, urgent and serious.
"My daughter, it’s time for us to return to our true home," her father said, his voice heavy with meaning. "This is the right time to go back to the Conde family mansion, where it stands on an island that belongs to our family."
Without hesitation, Angelic agreed. "Yes, Father. I’ll bring George and Monic with me."
After the conversation, she quickly prepared her children—the twins, George and Monic. The two were filled with excitement as they boarded their private jet, waiting for them at the family’s private airstrip. As the plane flew towards their destination, the children couldn’t contain their anticipation.
"Mommy, how big is our new home?" George asked, gazing at the clouds through the jet’s window.

"You’ll see, my children. The place we’re going to is huge and beautiful," Angelic replied, smiling at the twins.
When they arrived at the island, they disembarked from the jet and were immediately greeted by the cool ocean breeze. The Conde family’s land seemed like a paradise—vast, serene, and lush with green forests. Every corner of the island was monitored by high-tech cameras, ensuring the security of the entire area.

The twins were in awe of what they saw. "Wow, Mommy! There are so many trees, and it feels like this place has its own world!" Monic exclaimed, holding her brother George’s hand.
"Yes, Monic. This is the place where you were born, but we’ve been away for a long time. Now, we’re finally returning home," Angelic said, her voice filled with emotion.
When they reached the mansion, they were greeted by the Conde family’s servants. "Welcome back, beloved leader," the servants said, bowing in respect.

The household staff and guards couldn’t believe that the Conde family had returned, especially Angelic and her children. The mansion was a massive structure surrounded by grand gardens and tall walls. Despite their long absence, every corner of the place remained clean and well-maintained, as if it had been prepared for their return.

"Anak," Angelic’s father said as they walked through the garden, "observe the entire place. Familiarize yourself with every part of our territory because one day, it will belong to you and your children."
"Yes, Father. I’ll make sure I know every corner of this place," Angelic replied, taking in the sight of every tree and plant around them.

As they walked, Angelic felt the weight of the responsibility that now rested on her and her children. She knew that this return was not just about coming back to their home but also about reclaiming their role as heirs of a powerful family.
Arnold Conde, the father of Angelic, was facing his two brothers, Joshua and Jayried. Both were displeased with Angelic's return to the mansion, and it wasn’t long before their objections were voiced.

"Brother, why did you bring back that bastard daughter of yours? What exactly are you planning, Brother?" Joshua asked, his tone filled with doubt and barely contained anger. His brow was furrowed, and his eyes were fixed on Arnold, as if scrutinizing his every move.

"Aren’t you thinking, Brother? What will our family look like in the eyes of others if they find out you’re favoring an illegitimate child?" added Jayried, his voice laced with disdain and resentment. The brothers knew that Angelic’s return had deep implications for their family, especially since Angelic was a strong candidate for the position of the new head of their clan.

Joshua, the second eldest, had six wives and one child from each. He was the most pragmatic among them and wanted one of his children to inherit the position. Meanwhile, Jayried, the youngest, had four wives and also one child from each. Both were recommending their children as candidates, but Angelic’s return seemed to threaten their plans.

"Brother," Joshua continued, "why not make one of my children or Jayried’s children the heir? They are legitimate, born from families of high status and without a stain of shame. That child is not worthy of the position!"

Joshua’s words were like poison, trying to undermine Angelic’s name. But before Arnold could respond, Jayried spoke up.

"Joshua is right, Brother. Don’t trade our family’s dignity for an illegitimate child. We have the right to fight for our children to inherit the position of head of the family. We shouldn’t let a bastard prevail!" Jayried stated firmly, his eyes full of determination, as if he had no other purpose but to protect the interests of their children.

But instead of responding calmly, Arnold stood up, his eyes darkening with anger. He couldn’t let the insults against his daughter slide. Even though the words came from his own brothers, his fury boiled over.

"Joshua, Jayried," Arnold’s voice was deep and heavy as he stepped closer to his brothers. "If you ever call my daughter a bastard again, even though you are my brothers, I will make you feel the pain of those words! Is that clear?"

His eyes were serious, full of a threat that seemed ready to be carried out. It was as if he would devour his two brothers alive for their insults against Angelic.

Joshua and Jayried were stunned by the anger they saw in Arnold. Their eyes widened, unable to believe that their usually calm and composed brother would show such rage. For a moment, the entire room fell silent, the air growing heavy with tension.

"Brother...," Jayried whispered, searching for the right words to ease Arnold’s anger. "We didn’t mean to insult you. We’re just thinking about the well-being of our family."

But Arnold was unmoved. "You don’t understand, brothers. The position of head of the family isn’t just about legitimacy. It’s about strength, determination, and the ability to lead. Angelic has all those qualities, and I won’t allow you to belittle my daughter!"

Arnold’s voice was filled with determination, each word burning through the room. "If you think your children are more deserving, let them prove it to me. But don’t drag my daughter into your doubts and insecurities."

Joshua and Jayried exchanged glances, knowing they couldn’t challenge Arnold’s anger at that moment. In the end, they were forced to quiet down and accept what their brother had said.

"We’re sorry, Brother," Joshua said, his voice subdued, full of defeat. "We respect your decision."

Arnold nodded, but his face remained stern. "Make sure you do. Because this family doesn’t need favoritism. What we need is a true leader, and I will decide who that is."

With those final words, Arnold left the room, leaving Joshua and Jayried to contemplate their next move. In their hearts, they knew the battle for the position of family head was far from over. But at that moment, they also realized it would be difficult to go against their brother’s decision.

As Arnold walked out of the room, he could feel the weight of his brothers’ eyes on him. But he didn’t care. In his mind, Angelic was the one truly deserving, and he would do everything in his power to protect his daughter and their family, no matter the consequences.
