Chapter 66: The Storm of Fate
As Angelic wandered around the vast mansion with her twin children, she could feel the cold stares of her legitimate cousins. Their eyes were full of disdain, and Angelic knew all too well what those kinds of looks meant. Although she was used to holding back, she knew it was better to avoid trouble.
“Kids, let’s head back to your room,” she softly said to George and Monic. Her eyes remained vigilant as she led her children back to their room. But even as they walked away, Angelic could still feel the sinister aura of those who watched them, as if they were scrutinizing every move.
“Don’t worry, Mommy,” George said, his voice filled with innocent confidence.
But Angelic knew that complacency wouldn’t be enough. Once inside their room, she immediately called for the two butlers she had trusted for years. She had brought them to the mansion specifically to watch over her children, knowing they were no ordinary butlers—they were skilled in martial arts combat and proficient with various weapons.
“Keep a close eye on George and Monic,” Angelic ordered, her tone serious. “No one with ill intentions should get near them. I have a strong feeling we’re not safe here.”
The two butlers nodded and immediately set up additional security measures in the room. “No one will get close to them, Ma’am Angelic,” one of the butlers assured her, his voice full of certainty.
In the afternoon, Angelic decided to take a walk alone around the mansion. As she strolled through the expansive halls, she once again crossed paths with her relatives. She saw the same scornful looks from her cousins, and this time, their gazes seemed even more intense.
From a corner, she heard one of the young men, a man around twenty-eight years old, muttering under his breath. “Bastard child, huh? Maybe she thinks that just because her father is the head of this family, she can take the position of the new family head,” he sneered, clearly harboring resentment in his voice.
Angelic heard this, and without hesitation, she confronted the man. “I don’t desire to lead this family if it were up to me,” Angelic responded firmly as she stepped closer. “But because of my father, I’ll take back every position that was denied to me, even the life that was taken from me. You! runt, I’m not like other women you can just talk down to like that. Watch your words, or you might find yourself on the ground.”
After saying those words, Angelic smiled at the man she had just called a runt. The young man, who was her full cousin on her father’s side, was clearly shocked, especially since this was the first time he had encountered Angelic, but he already viewed her as a rival for the position of heir to the entire clan.
“Runt? Me?” the man retorted angrily. “Hey, woman, you better watch your mouth! Don’t you know I’m a taekwondo champion? I’m a black belt, huh!”
He suddenly lunged at Angelic, aiming a punch and a kick at her. But before he could get close, a loud “Slapped!” echoed through the hall. The man was stunned to find Angelic’s palms already on both of his cheeks with such speed that he didn’t even notice her movement.
The runt man stopped in his tracks, clutching his cheeks in disbelief. “Impossible!” was all he could manage to say, still reeling from the shock.
“Come back when you can slap me as hard as that,” Angelic said coldly before turning her back on him. “By the way, black belt taekwondo master? Seriously? Hilarious!” she added, mocking her full cousin.
Everyone present was stunned by the speed of the event. They couldn’t believe how swiftly Angelic had moved, as if she were a ghost with her speed and skill in counterattacking. The relatives who had been arrogant and disdainful moments before were now silent, fearful of what else Angelic might be capable of.
As Angelic walked away, she sensed the cold presence of another enemy. Suddenly, someone lunged at her from behind, stealthily attempting to attack. But in a split second, Angelic halted, spun around, and delivered a sharp punch to the assailant’s abdomen.
The attacker’s body crumpled to the floor, clutching his stomach as the wind was knocked out of him. No one had seen the speed of Angelic’s movements; everyone was left speechless by what they had just witnessed.
“It’s laughable if you think I’m afraid of you,” Angelic said, looking down at the crumpled body of her attacker. “I know you don’t accept me here. But remember, I’m not easily intimidated.”
With that, she continued her walk, showing no signs of fear or hesitation. The people around her remained silent, knowing now that Angelic was not to be underestimated and that they should tread carefully in their next steps. The Conde family was not just a family of blood and name; it was also a battleground, and now they knew that Angelic was ready to fight until the very end.
