Chapter 21

As I drop Freddy into the back seat of my sport car ,he mumbles be careful Arn Archer wants you dead and then he passes out .
I shake him up but his snore graciously sets in ,I enter the car and drive to my house he will be sleeping on the couch tonight,I will like to hear the rest of that by morning.
I reach my house and take a shower ,I don't go into queenies room I sleep in the other room like we had arranged earlier ,I do like this arrangement but as I lay there all the troubles of my day flash through my mind,it wasn't like this before when I lived by myself ,I had only one worry and it was how to live a better life and now that I am living a better life ,my worry is how to stay alive and well .
I see the door push open ,"I can't sleep" I hear queenie say .
Can I lay with you ?
I watch her for a moment before a faint "yes" escapes my lips .
She rushes to the side and climbs the bed ,after lying down I hear her sigh .
My eyes focus on the ceiling ,as I wonder what is running through her mind.
I am keeping the baby,you are right about what you said earlier she confess and my heart gladdens.
I listen quietly as she, continues to talk about what she would like to do ,I don't say a word.
And as I listen I drift into slumber .
The next day I wake up and I see her lying there still asleep I walk downstairs and Freddy is still sleeping but he is now on the floor.
He has always been a heavy sleeper and he woke up most times on the floor I wondered if he slept like this too in jail.
I went to get some aspiring from the medical cabinet and I placed it on the table close to him.
I watch as he sleeps and snores lightly and I wish I can change his life even it is for a second ,I wish he gets to live a better life .
And as I sit there ,I hear her walk behind me.
What are you doing here ?
"Nothing" I say ,you are up ? I ask rethorically
"Yes" she says and ,"why is Freddy here?
"He got drunk last night and I brought him here going to his place would delay me from coming home early ...
"Okay I get it,"she says and then she turns and walks back to the room ,i follow after her and as we enter she says I will like for you to fill in for me ,I will like for you to take over at dale cooperation, it will be just work .
Nothing more you will be the person to handle all the transactions ......
But what your father said when he came here,did you remember our wedding reception too ?
He Said nothing new , you can't get any alimony but there would ve a lot you will be getting moreover he did not say you can't work at the cooperation, did he?
I nod like a kindergarten pupil.
Very well then you will get dressed and go to the cooperation, there will be a board meeting today ,I already set everything up. You will go and make sure we keep the cooperation .
I don't know how you will do it but you have to do it she tells me .
I nod my head and then I put my hand in hers,she withdraws and say go and get ready .
I stand up and enter the shower ,I don't think I just wash up .
I get dressed and go downstairs ,I tap Freddy who is still asleep ,he turns to his side and I let him be ,we would talk when I get back ,he would know more about Archer Monroe ibtell myself it will be easy if I know more about the man .
I drive to the dale cooperation building ,the security at the parking lot greet me as I drive in ,even though I feel like a new face, they act like I was a regular here.
I enter the building and walk straight to the reception on the ground floor ,I wanted directions to the board room.
But I here someone call my name and as I turn ,I see a face I have never seen before .
I presume you are going to the board meeting she said.
How did you know that ?
Just a hunch she replied .
I know this is your first time ,so let me show you around before the meeting starts .
This place belongs to my wife's family,I tell her .
She smiles and xoeks her head to the side ,"really?
I never knew.
I have never seen a man brag about his wife owning a cooperation.
But as they say ,if you live long the world would come round .
I wasn't bragging I was just telling you that you don't need to do that .
Oh yes I need to ,you see as the new head of the dale cooperation you will have to know every knock and cranny of the place she said as she pressed the elevator button .

I don't answer,I don't know what to say,I don't know who this person is,and she hadn't taken the time to introduce herself.
As the elevator door closes I turn to look at her and then my eyes fall on her cleavage which her suit top is trying really hard to conceal.
I turn away and I hear her chuckle you want them don't you ?

You fan have them buy first you will have to show me you are also a good boy ,you do as I tell you ,I am all yours .
She says .
I am married I tell her .
I her her chuckle again and then she says ,that is between you and queenie.
