CHAPTER 28

She took her last bite and sipped her juice and looked at Sean.
“I will be right back. I forgot to bring your present,” she said and escaped from her husband.
At this rate, he was going to find out what she was hiding all these past few weeks. When she entered her bedroom, she went to the closet and opened her safe where she keeps all her valuable. Inside was her envelop she recently got from the hospital. She smiled as she thought about what was inside, he will definitely like it right?
She took her envelope with her downstairs and spotted Sean who was busy talking with Victor. She mustered all her courage and walked towards him with a smile. He noticed her and he gave her a bright smile full of relief.
“I was about to send Vivian to go up and collect you,” he said as she stopped right in front of him.
“I had to pick your present,” she said as she stretched her hand so that she hands over the envelope to him.
“What is this?” he asked as he took it.
“You have to open it and see it for yourself. I really hope that you will like it and not be angry at me,” she said in a lower voice.
“You will never do anything that will make me angry at you,” he said as he tore open the envelope.
Silently and patiently, Selena clutched her hands together and waited for her husband’s reaction.

Sean was a bit nervous as he opened the envelope his wife had brought him as his present. This was one weird present, what if there were divorce papers stacked in there?
He wasn’t ready to lose her and yet he was curious as to what his wife had prepared for him. As a strong man he opened the envelope and exposed the documents that were inside.
At first, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing, so he blinked once and then twice. He read the documents one after the other and he looked at his wife who stood there scared as a cat.
Everything was now falling into place. He had so many questions that were not getting any answers all these past weeks and yet this envelope contained all the answers he needed.
He pulled up a picture out of the envelope and it happened to be a sonogram. He looked at it and found tears rolling down his cheeks. There was the proof that she was carrying his child and the baby looked so tiny in that sonogram. He was speechless, he didn’t know what to do except to pull her closer to him and he hugged her close.
The envelope fell into the hands of Victor but he didn’t mind. All that mattered was the woman who was in his arms; the woman who was carrying his child, his woman, his wife and the love of his love.
“Thank you very much,” he said as he kissed her all over her face.
He saw her tears streaming down her cheeks as he did that. He wiped those tears with his hands and he stared deep into her eyes.
“This is the best present I have ever received so don’t sulk anymore and rejoice with me,” he told her seeing how guilty she looked.
“I am sorry I couldn’t tell when I found about it. I didn’t want you to see as if I am blackmailing you with the baby,” she explained to him and he understood.
She was a very strong woman. She didn’t even say a word even when Cleo was in the picture. If it was some other women they would have used that card to make him stay with her and yet she kept quiet and patiently waited for him.
“I am sorry for making you go through that entire ordeal. I promise you that I will never let anything happen to you again and I will take great care of you and our baby,” he said as he placed his hand on her stomach.
She smiled at him and she stood on her toes and for the first time Selena kissed him in public.
This was a happy day and he was going to celebrate this joyful news with all that had attended. He scooped her up and he kissed her deeply ignoring that there were spectators.
It was after a while, hearing the people cheering and laughing that he put her down and smiled at her happily. Unable to contain himself with joy, he held her hand and he looked at the respective guests that had graced his party.
“I have an announcement to make. This is really a special day for me and I want to share this great news with you all,” he said looking at the guests and then back to his wife who was blushing so badly after the kiss.
“Tell them man!” Victor called out.
Sean looked at his friend who was now aware of the good news he was about to share and then back to the people he was addressing.
“I am proud to announce to everyone right now that my wife is eight weeks pregnant and we are expecting our first child together,” he said with joy and happiness.
Seeing how the guests were celebrating with him on this joyous event, he was really touched.
“Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations!” these came from the guests.
He stood there, his wife by his side as the guests began to congratulate him.
The process took a while but in that moment his wife was already complaining of hunger again. He now understood his wife’s weird cravings for food. Since he was now aware of what was happening, he was going to keep a lot of food stacked in the house so that whatever time she needs it she will get it. He didn’t want her baby to starve because he wasn’t taking good care of his wife and the baby.
“How about you go and take a seat there and I will have food delivered to you. I bet they are ready now,” he said as he instructed her to rest.
“Thanks,” she said and walked away.
