CHAPTER 31

“You mean that. I wanted to apologize for her immature behavior, it will just pass. I received a call from mother today and she told me that she is doing fine. Can you believe that she went clubbing out of all things she can do tonight? I wonder what she will be doing there,” Victor said and Edward felt his heart suffocating.
It was as if he wasn’t breathing at all. So she went clubbing wearing that small thing? His head was aching; he took a bottle of water and drank half of it.
“Isn’t that reckless for a young girl like her?” he asked wanting to hear Victor’s opinion.
“I think it’s good. At least she will have some fun and later I will go and pick her up,” Victor replied.
“That is good then. It is very scary out there nowadays,” Edward said and his friend nodded.
“It is indeed. If you are done let’s go,” Victor said as he stood up.
“Sure, let me pack my things and I will join you.”
Edward packed his bag and he left the office with his friend. The whole journey was a hassle. In his mind he was imagining that girl at the club being gawked by a lot of men because of that red dress. She was supposed to be taken out of that place as soon as possible even if it wasn’t him.
They were having dinner at a restaurant when Victor received a call, he could tell from the look on his face that it was urgent.
“What is happening?” Edward asked.
“I have to meet a client right now and I can’t postpone it,” he answered sounding worried.
“Is it that bad?”
“The thing is I was supposed to pick up Vivian from the club before its late but now I don’t know what I should do. If she is later than that then she will get into trouble and mother will ground her for sure. I should just send a driver to go and pick her,” Victor said as he went through his contacts.
Edward knew just how much protective Victor was towards his sister, so if he was going to send a driver instead of himself going then it meant it was important.
“Just give me the address and I will safely send her back home,” Edward volunteered.
“Are you sure you can do that? I didn’t want you to feel awkward because of what happened. After all she is trying to forget about this crush of hers on you,” Victor said and he heard the heaviness of the issue from his voice.
“I am an adult; I will handle it so don’t worry. I will not let anything bad happen to her. I will call you when I find her so just go and do business,” Edward said assuring his friend that all will be well.
“If you say it like that then I am assured. I will leave her in your hands then. Thanks friend,” he said and left the restaurant.
Edward took a deep sigh. He was about to get himself in a red zone. He had been avoiding her for a couple of weeks and now he was going to see her alone. He had never been alone with her for much. He stood up and paid his bill. He went back to his car and drove for the club where Vivian was.
When he arrived he went inside and the place was so noisy. He could see all kinds of retarded people there. How could she go in such a place like this?
If he was Victor, he would have pulled her out before she even step foot in the club or just refused to let her even go in there. It took him a couple of minutes before he spotted her. She was walking gracefully coming from the direction of the ladies.
She looked stunning and for the first time she didn’t look a kid to him. He watched her as she walked towards the dancing floor. He noticed that he wasn’t the only one staring at her. She had managed to attract a lot of attention to herself.
He couldn’t stand looking at her for long; he took long strides towards the dancing floor. She turned around only for her to just stood there motionless looking at him. He could see the surprise and shock in her eyes. She wasn’t expecting him to be here, he could tell.
“What are you doing here?” she asked as soon as he stopped in front of her.
“Your brother sent me here to take you home,” he said lying to her.
He didn’t want her to know that he had volunteered to be here.
“It’s still early and I am not going back now. I am very sorry for wasting your precious time. You should be with that woman of your instead of coming here to pick me up as if I am your child!” he could hear her anger behind those words. She was still pissed at him, he understood her well.
“I am afraid I will not be leaving you here,” he said holding her hand.
“You aren’t supposed to do that to someone whom you turned down. You will only make things worse and make me misunderstand you as if you are making a move on me. So please leave me alone, when I am ready to go home I will call Victor or the driver to take me home,” she said and pried herself away from him.
He watched as she walked away from him and went to sit in the booth. She was mad and he didn’t know what to do to make that anger dissipates. As he was busy thinking of what to do something unexpected happened. He watched as this young guy walked towards Vivian.
He saw her smiling at him and just like that the other young man lowered himself and grazed his lips on her cheeks. He felt as if he was on fire after watching that. He was so angry and fuming.
He knew exactly what he was feeling, jealousy. The thought of her with another just made his blood boil. Without caring for anything, Edward made a choice as a man. He was going to suffer the consequences later but now he was going to claim what belongs to him.

“I will surely reward you for this,” Vivian whispered to her classmate who had helped her a lot during the night.
“You can do that by hooking me up with that senior you talk to,” he said and she smiled at him.
“That I can handle; I will arrange a meeting so that you two can meet,” she said happily.
“I wonder why you asked me to do this.”
“That won’t be necessary but you can leave now. I will see you on Monday,” she said as she chased her classmate away.
