Dear Diary

Dear diary, April 30, 1911

Today that noble child caused trouble with me again, it annoyed me. After yesterday's fight, he called me a thief just because I shot birds in Duke Robert's backyard.

He shouted at me, continued to shout at me until we got into a fight. Duchess Margareth was angry with my mother, she pointed at my mother again.

At school, he and the noble boys in the class were whispering. They looked at me with disgust, but I didn't care, they had always been like that.

Why do I have to go to school? I don't like it, I just want to stop. When I told the Principal, he got angry and forbade me to stop because of Duke Robert's request.

So what should I do? They don't feel like I am, every day they are insulted by them. Moreover, since his beloved granddaughter Duchess Margareth entered class, things have only gotten worse.

Soledad thought hard, she had tried to survive at school, but it felt impossible. Even though Rachel is also a commoner like him, their treatment is slightly different.

Rachel's family was very prominent, her father was a music composer and music teacher, while her mother owned a very famous ornamental plant shop. Rachel is cute, her skin is white, her hair is straight, long and always neat, her clothes are also nice.

Soledad met Rachel for the first time when Duke Robert enrolled her in school about 3.5 years ago. Of the dozens of students who registered, almost all of them were children from noble families, while there were only three children from commoners, including himself, Rachel and one boy in a different class.

Since then, Soledad and Rachel have become close. Entering a noble school for Soledad was not luck. Because, quite a few children in the village felt jealous of him because Duke Robert already considered him a grandson.

Soledad fell asleep thinking about various things. He is a thinking type, who often thinks about many things, from small things to big things. All he thought, he was beyond his actual age. Soledad is a very intelligent, wise and brave child. Maybe that's what made Duke Robert love him like his own grandson.

Soledad's mother saw Soledad falling asleep while writing and immediately called her father to lift Soledad into the room.

With great affection, father lifted Soledad and laid her on the thin mattress, while mother covered Soledad who was fast asleep. Yes, Soledad didn't know what her parents did for her and how they had high hopes for her.

Soledad is the only child in her family who received an education at a noble school. Erwin, his eldest brother, disappeared several years ago and never went to school at all.

Elina, Soledad's 16 year old older sister, Elina works for a noble family as a seamstress. Meanwhile, 14 year old Jean was already working in Duke Robert's milk and cheese factory.

Tommy, Soledad's younger brother who is still 6 years old and has not yet gone to school. His family hopes that Tommy can also attend a noble school like Soledad.

Because he is the only one who goes to school, of course he is the hope of his family in the future. Her parents hope that Soledad's future will be better than her three older siblings.

However, for Soledad who is just a child. Expectations that are too big for him are a burden. Not to mention he has to face the cynical views and dislike of his friends at school.

Soledad didn't expect much, her wish was very simple. One day, he and everyone can live happily without any barriers that limit them. Everyone can sit together while enjoying a cup of tea and boiled cassava, without having to feel differences or injustice. Simple ? Yes, that's the dream.

One day, they will see the sun shining brightly with their heads tilted upwards. Where the morning breeze blows gently, carving a smile on their faces.

Soledad sat in her seat, she tried not to pay attention to the dozens of pairs of eyes looking at her in disgust. Of course, for him it was normal, but this time they were looking at him for a different reason. His open hostility towards the new kid.

Nicholas has been studying in this class for a week, not a single day has passed without arguing and fighting with the commoner boy who is very annoying to him.

Today is the same, even though class time hasn't started yet, the hot competition is already starting to be felt. Two days ago, Nicholas thought the natives were stupid and unintelligent, he said it loudly and deliberately. Soledad, who heard the insult, immediately became emotional and without further ado immediately took steps to punch the arrogant noble boy.

"You thug!" Once his classmates teased him apart from calling him a commoner butcher.

Rachel feels sorry for Soledad, who has been teased since Nicholas arrived. He tries to advise Soledad not to pay attention to them. Because, the more annoyed he gets and hits them, the more they will have jokes to make fun of him. Of course, this is all because of their differences in status.

"I don't care, I won't stop before they're all gone!" That's the answer. It doesn't matter to him being teased and insulted, he is used to it. But the most important thing is that he can reply to them all.

Nicholas walked past her seat, because Nicholas was sitting behind Soledad. For a moment their eyes met, conveying signs of war. Nicholas smiled arrogantly, he knew exactly that the person he was facing was on a much different level from himself.

Soledad responded with her eagle gaze, "Whatever it is, I'm not afraid,"  she thought defiantly.
