Chapter 73

***
Ace's POV:

I laughed to myself after leaving Heather's office. That had been a close one. Both sawyer and Rob could've walked in on us. The catastrophe would've been huge! That little moment was a hot one though. I still had a boner painfully straining against my trousers. I made sure it wasn't visible. I would control myself till my next meeting with Heather.

Heather's POV:

"Are you alright?" Rob asked me.

"Yes. Why?"

"You're flushed. Your cheeks are red and your breathing is a little uneven."

Of course! You interrupted a feverish session.

"Really?? Well, I don't know. But I've not been well. So, you have something to tell me?"

"Yes," he leaned in with a serious expression, " I guess you already know about your mother's financial situation. The company's situation exactly."

Hmm. This might be interesting.

"Yes?"

"Heather, I want you to convince your mother to sell this company."

I acted surprised.

"Why?"

"She's crashing. The products aren't selling. Before this company dies, she has to sell it! To save it! She can then use that money to start another family business with you both."

False! Both of you will use the money to run away.

"You're very right, Rob."

"Yes. Better she sells it now. Because the more it declines, the harder she'll find potential buyers."

"I get you uncle. I'll do everything to convince her."

He seemed relieved.

"I knew I could count on you."

"And you were right."

He smiled and stood up.

"Thank you."

We shook hands

"I'm happy you care about our mom's wellbeing," I lied.

"You're welcome. You are all family to me. Okay, I'll leave now. Keep me updated about what she'll say."

"Okay."

"And remember, we never had this conversation."

"Mouth closed!"

He smiled and left the office.

"Dumbass," I stood up to leave the office. I was going to tell Sheridan about our conversation and to finish what we'd started. Half of my mind was on it while I spoke to Rob.

I left my office and locked the door behind me. I was about to head for his office when another employee caught up with me.

"Ma'am?"

What now?

"Yes, Lara?"

"Your mother wants you in her office."

I rolled my eyes.

"Now?"

"Yes now, ma'am. She said it's important."

I felt like grumbling or whimpering. My legs were still quite weak. I couldn't wait to get to Sheridan. But I had to go meet my mother first. What was so important?

Ace's POV:

I looked at my watch. What were they talking about?

I was anxious and impatient at the same time because I wanted to know what he had to tell her and because I needed to make love to her. I went to my windows and looked at the city.

Sawyer's POV:

Strange things were going on in the company. A lot of employees had quit. The sales had dropped so much.
Seemed like mom had money problems. Serious ones.

I leaned into my chair. Phew! Thank goodness I had another job.

With time, I'd started a little modeling carrier. I was well paid. I wasn't as known or popular as Heather yet, nor had I begun going for international fashion shows. I was still a starter. But the money I was already getting was alright. I believed things would be easy for me because I had an international super model as elder sister. So in case the company was destroyed, I had my own money. Plus, I had Kevin on the side to provide for me, foolishly.

Heather's POV:

I entered my mother's office. She smiled at me. I didn't smile back. I loved her and hated her at the same time because of the type of human being she was.

"Good afternoon, darling."

"You called for something important."

"Yes uh, please sit."

I lazily took a seat.

"As it is evident, the company's not well. I'm even losing some employees. Aiden left this morning."

I folded my arms.

"I know. And?"

She stared at me for a while.

"I don't really have the money to pay the employees and the workers of our industries."

"What has that got to do with me?"

"I already got money from Ace, it didn't help me."

I raised a brow.

"So you need my help or what?"

"Yes. With your modeling career. You have enough money in your account–"

I stared at her.

"How much do you want?"

"At least a million dollars."

I had more than a million dollars.

But sorry mom, you would have to pay for your wrongs.

"I've not received my pay yet," I lied.

"So you don't have–"

"No, I don't have a million. If you need it so badly, wait till the end of the month."

That would make her panic. We were just starting a new month. She wouldn't wait till the end of the month, forcing her to sell the company.

"The end of the month??"

"Yes, ma. It's that or none"

She looked at me. She was clearly frustrated.

"Okay, dear. I'll try and wait. But I'll try asking Sawyer too. Please, call her as you leave."

Ha! Sawyer?

"Alright."

I stood up and left the office.

Sawyer's POV:

I made my way to my mother's office. She'd sent for me. I wondered why.
I knocked and entered the office. She asked me to take a seat.

"What's up?"

"You know about my financial situation."

"Yup. A lot have quit."

"Exactly. I need to try and save this company. You're my last hope."

I raised a brow.

"What? What exactly do you need ma?"

"I need a million dollars."

My brows shot up.

"Ha! Are you kidding me??"

Was she fucking serious?

"Sawyer, I'm serious."

I laughed.

"So? Did I ask you to manage late uncle Paul's company? I can lend you some money but a million? Hell no."

She frowned.

"Then what can you give?"

"If I even give you two hundred thousand dollars, then I'll be very charitable!"

Christina's POV:

Sawyer was a solid mess. I knew she had always been a selfish dumbass. I'd prepared for this reaction from her.

"I need more than that for this company."

"Sorry, ma. No way am I giving you a damned million."

I was gonna use the hard method then.

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Sawyer, let me tell you something. I made you just like I can destroy you. I have power and don't forget that. You wanna act like a bitch, I'll treat you like one."

She stared at me.

"That's right. Be careful. I can decide that you repay me all the money I've spent on you since highschool and university. And there's nothing you'll do about it."

"You're not serious," she said, sitting up.

"You know me. I am. Wanna try? I called to make you a model, just like I can call to get you fired," I was very serious.

She looked at me in disbelief. She knew I was very serious.

"So?" I asked.

"Fine! I'll get you the fucking money. Tomorrow after work, I'll pass by the bank."

"Good girl."

"You're a witch."

"Takes one to recognise another."

She stood up and stormed out of the office.
