Chapter 87 - At last

***
Christina's POV:

"What?? How dare you arrest my mother!" Sawyer shouted, "Let her go!"

I felt tears well up my eyes. What was happening? I looked around. Heather looked sad but not shocked. She remained silent and stared at me. I looked at Ace. He stared at me, emotionless, hands in his pockets. I saw something like amusement linger in his eyes, his friends did same.
I turned to sheriff Bates.

"Bates what the hell are you talking about?! I'm innocent!" I screamed, angrily.

"Shut up, Christina. You're reaping what you sowed. Your past is catching up with you."

"I didn't do anything! The case was closed a long time ago, you idiot!"

The old brat smiled

"Yes, it was. But it was reopened. By someone who wanted justice. By someone who wants you to pay."

I turned to that so-called max.

"Sheridan! It's really you! You–"

"Ma'am, I said I am not Sheridan," he insisted.

I turned to Bates.

"That's not Sheridan, Christina. But it was Sheridan who reopened the case."

"What?? W– where is the real Sheridan??" I asked Bates, tears rolling down my cheeks uncontrollably. He didn't answer I turned to Max, "Where is he?? He's dead!"

"Ma'am, I do not know what the hell you're talking about," the Max continued to deny. I thought I was losing my mind.

I saw Keith and Christian chuckle a little.

How dared they laugh at me??

I looked at Ace, he had a smirk on, one that portrayed satisfaction. What was happening? How dared they laugh at me!

"Time to go, Christina," Bates stated and the officer behind me grabbed my arm and was about to pull me away.

"Uh sheriff, can I say a few words to her?" Ace suddenly asked. What did he want to tell me?

"Sure, son," he motioned the other officer over and they left the office. Leaving me standing there, my hands cuffed behind my back.

"What the hell do you want to tell me??" I asked angrily.

He smirked and approached me.

"I didn't know you were this stupid, Christina. So blind," he chuckled.

What?! How dared he insult me?

"Hey! Who do you take yourself for??" Sawyer stepped forward angrily, "Yes, you're the owner of this company now but who gives you the right to insult my mother??"

Ace looked at her, a provocative smirk on his face.

"Are you talking to me?" he asked, amused.

"Yes!" she turned to her sister, "Heather, you better warn him!"

Heather kept her eyes on the floor, arms folded.

"Heather?!" Sawyer called angrily.

"Hey, hey, hey. You got a prob with me. Not with her," Ace said.

Sawyer turned to him angrily.

"Just shut up you, dumbass," she insulted. Ace frowned. And he raised a warning finger at her.

"Careful. I've been waiting for an opportunity to slap you."

"Then go ahead!"

Ace smiled and pocketed his hands again.

"So you faint again?  No. I'm a man now. I don't hit women."

We stared at him, confused.

"Again? What do you mean by again?"

"The first time I slapped you, you couldn't take it. And soon enough, you hit the hay on the floor. Remember?"

My eyes widened and so did Sawyer's.

"W– what?!"

"Surprise!" he laughed, "Sheridan is in the building!"

Heather's POV:

It was really happening. Sheridan had just revealed his identity. The shock on my mother's face was similar to that of one who might have seen a ghost or something.vSawyer's eyes widened and she put a hand over her mouth. My mother took a step back.

"No. Y– you're lying," Sawyer stuttered, growing pale as fear consumed her before our eyes.

"You think? No, I'm not lying Sawyer. It's me. I'm alive and real! No, I didn't die in those woods," he turned to Christina, "That's what you prayed for right? Huh??" he asked angrily.

Sawyer looked at me, realising I wasn't as shocked as her, she asked:

"You– you knew about this??"

I simply nodded.

"Oh my–" she leaned on the table, preventing herself from collapsing.

"What did you think Christina? What?! That you would get away so easily? No. I'm back," Sheridan stated. He was clearly containing his rage.

My mother was speechless. She stared at him like he was a ghost, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"It was– it was you this whole time??" she stuttered in fear and shock.

"Yes, it was me. Do you wanna know how I survived and ended up here? Do you?!" he growled angrily, Christina shook in fear.

"Do you?! Let me tell you!"

He angrily told her how he survived the woods, met uncle Victor, travelled, changed identity, graduated and ended up working with her. She was very shocked. Her face was the palest I'd seen.

"That's how! And now I have what's mine, back. Christina you are going to pay," his eyes reddened and I knew he felt great pain.

He then turned to Sawyer.

"And you!" Sawyer shook, afraid, "Always defending your mother. Do you know she did??"

Sawyer shook her head, shaking her shoes.

"Oh, you don't?? You loved your father?"

"Of– of course I did. He– he was everything for me," she said, painfully. Tears rolled down my cheeks and I found myself sobbing.

"Well, your dear mother here, poisoned him! She killed him! Along with my father! Yes! She had your favorite uncle Paul, murdered!" I watched Sheridan yell angrily, his face red and his eyes beginning to water.

"No! It's not true!" Sawyer screamed in disbelief, beginning to shed tears.

"No?! No?? Ask her yourself!"

He grabbed Christina angrily by the arm. I gasped. I didn't want him to do something he'd regret. He forcefully made my crying mother to face Sawyer.

"Ask her then! Ask her yourself!"

The trembling Sawyer, eyes already swollen, approached Christina.

"Is– is he telling the truth?" she whispered in a shaky voice. My mom stared at her, without a word, "IS HE SAYING THE TRUTH?!" Sawyer screamed in her face.

My mother stared at her, though with tears rolling down her cheeks, she seemed not to be remorseful.

"Answer me!" Sawyer cried.

"Yes! Yes, it's true! There, I've admitted it!" Christina suddenly replied angrily.

I gasped. Though I already knew the truth, hearing her say it like that shocked me, causing me to sob again.

"Oh no," Sawyer gasped, crying, she stepped back in shock.

"Yes, I killed your father! Yes, I killed Paul! So bloody what?!"

"Why??" Sawyer asked painfully.

"Because! I needed money! And both of y'all should thank me! I made you what you are!"

"SHUT UP!" Sawyer spat on her face, "You're a witch! You killed our father! You killed innocent uncle Paul! For money!"

"Christina has always been a witch. The devil," Sheridan stated, tears rolling down his cheeks, "She stole my Father's property from me."

Sawyer cried. I too. The others watched in silent shock.

"And that's not all. You think she loves y'all so much? No. She was selling this company to use the money and run away with her long time secret lover, Rob."

I'd sobbed so much my eyes hurt. I looked at Sawyer, more broken than me. Unable to look at our mother in the face again, crying, she turned and walked towards me. I opened my arms and held her tight. She was still my sister after all. She cried, uncontrollably in my arms. I did same.

"You are gonna pay, Christina," Sheridan growled lowly, "You've lost everything, you witch. I hope you rot in hell. I hope you get killed in prison. Even if I would've preferred to kill you myself," I watched him slowly wipe away his tears, "You've just signed everything back to me."

They stared at each other with great hatred.

"You claim to be wise. You're nothing but a money hungry bitch. An easily manipulated fool. You didn't even suspect that I could be behind all this. You couldn't even understand that it wasn't I who slept with you that night."

Her eyes widened.

"And you'll never know who did. Remember when you told me that no woman would fall for an ugly brat like me?? Well, you were very quick to fall for me. Ironic," he stared at her with great hatred, "You said I would die, I'm alive. You said Heather would never end up with a bastard like me. Well good news, she's carrying my baby. We're deeply in love. Do you hear that?"

She stared at him in shock and also hatred.

"Go and rot where you belong," he smiled. "I finally got the last laugh, Christina."

Christina couldn't believe what was happening. Her eyes grew wide and she realised it wasn't a nightmare. It was real.

Sheridan stepped back and called the officers in. They entered.

"I'm done. Take her away."

The men grabbed her. Sheriff Bates smiled.

"You're crying, Christina? Don't worry, you're lover, Rob is waiting for you in the car. We caught him coming to see you."

Sheridan looked at her.

"Hope both of you actually, rot in hell."

We watched as they took her away.
Sawyer ran out of the office in tears.

Sheridan stood there, tears rolling down his cheeks again. His friend approached him and tried to calm him down. I walked up to him and we hugged each other tight. Seeking comfort.
