Chapter 25

Laura POV

"The cheers from the students echoed through the grounds, their excitement palpable as they competed in the inter-house games. But this was no ordinary competition - it required a strength that came from within, an inner wolf-like power that I hadn't yet tapped into.

As a non-participant, I watched with a mix of fascination and longing, eager to discover my own inner wolf and join the fray.”

'Laura, let's sprint a soft race together?' Her bright smile and sparkling eyes added an extra layer of enthusiasm to her invitation."A light-skinned lady with vibrant red hair gently nudged my shoulders and said,

"'No, I don't want to do that, okay?' I said, pointing straight ahead to indicate that I wanted to focus on what was in front of us, my gaze fixed on the path ahead and away from the persistent, red-haired lady."

As I focused on the path ahead, I could feel the lady's gaze still on me, her eyes burning with a curious intensity. I quickened my pace, my feet pounding the ground in a rhythmic beat. The wind rushed past me, carrying the scent of damp earth and new life.

Suddenly, a loud growl echoed through the air, making me jump. I spun around, my heart racing, and that's when I saw it: a massive wolf emerging from the trees, its eyes fixed on me with a fierce intent.

“Hey, look out!" I shouted, but she just smiled and said, "Don't worry, it's just my brother, Fred. He's harmless."

Harmless? I thought, my eyes fixed on the snarling wolf. Yeah, right.

“His transformation took a surprisingly humorous turn, and I couldn't help but stare. But as I did, I realized the entire school was now watching us. 'Laura, I'm so sorry,' Valerie rushed over to me, her hands rubbing my shoulders in comfort.

'I didn't mean to abandon you. Damian, my ex, was like that too - always startling me with his sudden shifts.' My voice cracked as I spoke, my thoughts drifting back to painful memories."

"Anyway, I'd be happy if we could find somewhere to sit," I said, my frustration evident. "My legs are aching already."

The lady's eyebrows shot up in surprise, and for a moment, she looked taken aback by my words. My anger flared up, misinterpreting her reaction. "Aching? Yes, aching!" I repeated, my voice rising as I took a step closer to her, my vexation evident. "How about that?"

"I mean, what was the moon goddess thinking, pairing a weakling like you with an alpha like Frank?" The lady's voice dripped with disdain. "You're not even worthy of him! He should have rejected you, not the other way around."

The students nearby murmured in agreement, their disapproval palpable. The air was thick with tension, and I felt like I was facing an angry mob.

I felt my face burning with shame and anger, but I refused to back down. "You know nothing about me," I said, my voice steady. "And you know nothing about my relationship with Frank."

She sneered. "Oh, I know enough. I know he's way out of your league. And I know you're just a pathetic little weakling who can't even control your own shifts."

The crowd around us grew more agitated, their murmurs turning into snarls and growls. I could feel the tension building, and I knew I had to get out of there before things escalated.

But before I could move, a loud voice boomed through the courtyard. "Enough!" The crowd fell silent, and we all turned to see Frank standing before us, his eyes blazing with authority.

"What's wrong with you all?" Frank's voice cut through the crowd's murmurs, silencing them. He's so pathetic, thinking I'd ever become his mate and Luna," I said, a radiant smile spreading across my face.

Valerie whispered in my ear, "It's Frank, duh." I know, I thought, my eyes rolling in exasperation. "You should stop," I hissed through gritted teeth, trying to restrain my anger.

"I've warned you before, and I won't repeat myself," Frank growled, his eyes fixed on the gray wolf. "No one, including you, should trespass on my territory. Laura is mine, and even if she rejects me a thousand times, I will still hold her in my heart. Did you hear me?" he snarled, standing face to face with the red headed Lady, his eyes blazing with a fierce possessiveness.

The lady, undaunted, held its ground, its eyes locked on Frank with a challenge. Laura there, are you okay? Frank turned his gaze on me, grasped my arms softly. Lau
